Warner Bros. has released the second trailer over at MySpace for the upcoming horror remake A Nightmare on Elm Street, which stars Jackie Earle Haley as the iconic Freddie Krueger. And folks, it’s a pretty damn good one.
Not only does this trailer give us a bit more insight into the look and feel of the film, it also provides more than enough horror and terror for three trailer. In short, it makes me even more interested in seeing this movie when it comes out.
The remake, directed by Samuel Bayer, in addition to Haley features Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, and Thomas Dekker as a group of suburban teens being haunted and killed in their sleep. See, this is why I try never to sleep.
Check out the full trailer after the break. A Nightmare on Elm Street opens April 30, 2010.

Are you excited for the remake of the horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street? If so, this post is for you. Today, a new poster for the remake was relased into the wild at MySpace and features a better look at Jackie Earle Haley in the iconic role of your worst nightmare Freddy Krueger.
As you probably know, the original film was directed by horror legend Wes Craven and released in 1984. It spawned several sequels and imitators and propelled the character of Freddy Kruger into infamy. The remake, which is directed by Samuel Bayer and hits theaters on April 30, features Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, and Thomas Dekker as a group of suburban teens being haunted and killed in their sleep.
Even though I’m not always a big fan of remakes, this one looks pretty darn cool. More and more Haley seems like an inspired choice to take over as Freddy Kruger. If he brings to the role the killer intensity he showed as Rorchasch in Watchmen, he might just be able to pull it off. The more I see of the new film, the more I hope he can.
Click through for a look at the full poster. Seeing this, what do you guys think of Haley as Freddy Kruger and are you excited for the remake?

The first trailer for the Platinum Dunes’ remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street popped online via MySpace last night just in time for Halloween. Well, a month or so before really but still, in time. While it’s not really a full trailer, it still manages to give you a lot of clues about Freddy’s origin and how it may be different — or similar — from what you’ve known in the past.
This teaser also offers us the first look at Freddy’s new make-up. Sadly, you don’t really get a very good look at Freddy in this teaser, but if you’re super curious you can always take a still from the teaser and manipulate it in your favorite image editing program for a better look. Or, you could just head over here and someone has already done the work for you.
The brand new A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters April 30, 2010. In the meantime, check out the teaser after the jump and remember, don’t fall asleep.

Even though Warner Bros. dropped these brand new posters during Comic-Con a day or so ago, that doesn’t mean everyone has seen them yet. Plus, they’re both pretty cool. So, for those of you who haven’t had a look, we’ve got the posters for both Jonah Hex, featuring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, and the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street, featuring a somewhat obscured shot of Jackie Earle Haily as Freddy Kruger.
Of the two, I find the Jonah Hex poster to be the more interesting — at least in terms of the way its designed and who it features. Obviously, if the movie is called Jonah Hex you need to show that character and the actor who portrays him on the poster. That’s pretty much a no-brainer. What’s funny is that the poster also features Megan Fox prominently and lists her above the title right next to Josh Brolin.
Why do I find this unusual? Well, according to Fox herself, she plays a minor role in the film — that of a world-weary prostitute — and isn’t really all that important to the story. So why is she featured so prominently on the poster? Well, as you’ve probably figured out already, she’s kinda a big name at the moment and Warner Bros. obviously wants to capitalize on her fame as much as possible. Makes sense, especially as Jonah Hex might be a somewhat difficult sell to a middle America who may or may not have ever heard of the comic on which its based. Seems like a smart decision by the Warner PR department to me.
Jonah Hex hits theaters on June 18, 2010 and A Nightmare on Elm Street arrives on April 30, 2010 . Check out larger versions of the posters after the jump.

Well horror fans, the wait is over. We’ve finally gotten a glimpse of Jackie Earle Hailey as Freddy Kruger in the upcoming reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Fortunately, at least from what we can see in this picture, it looks like the filmmakers of this new version are sticking pretty close to the original vision for everyone’s favorite killer who stalks their dreams.
Of course, as this picture is pretty dark, its hard to see exactly what the new Freddy really looks like, but at least the hat and sweater look exactly right for the character — not to mention the creepy mood lighting and the hand made of knives. Oddly enough, if I didn’t know this was Jackie Earle Hailey in this picture, I could almost guess that is was. Something about his posture and having just seen him in a similar hat while watching the Watchmen director’s cut makes it almost impossible not to think its him.
With any reboot or remake people are going to cry foul and decry that the original is always going to be better. Truth be told, I’m frequently one of those people, so I know how it is. Fortunately, it looks like I might have to give this movie a real chance — especially if it continues to follow this great start. The reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters on April 16, 2010.
