In an effort to keep things out of the hands of those who made the characters popular, major studios such as Sony, and now Regency and Fox, are rebooting their recent Marvel films in order to retain the rights so they don’t default back to Disney owned Marvel. Sony is doing so with the reboot of Spider-Man, while Regency and Fox have recently announced that they’re doing the same with Daredevil.
Originally made in 2003, and starring Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell, the film isn’t even a decade old and it’s getting a complete revamp. This time, the writer behind 2008’s The Day The Earth Stood Still, David Scarpa, will be penning a script, and the story will more than likely scrub the previous films’ continuity.
It’s unfortunate that studios resort to these childish ways. If the franchise eventually ends up in the hands of Marvel and Marvel Studios, this could mean great film cameos from some of our favorite heroes. A perfect example is what Favreau, Brannagh, and Joe Johnston are doing with the Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America films, and it’s all like a fanboy’s greatest dream.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! The fall of the Hulks begins, Mogo dishes out his brand of justice and both Geo-Force and the Sentry lose their marbles. As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
Dark Avengers #13
Marvel Comics – $3.99 US
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mike Deodato
Score: 8.5/10
The Marvel Universe has seen better days. While the disassembling of Earth’s mightiest heroes led to the breakout of a civil war, a secret invasion became the catalyst to Norman Osborn’s dark reign, and with the siege of Asgard on the horizon, surely things couldn’t get worse (see what I did there?), could it? The Sentry’s true origin is revealed, answering once and for all that, yes, things can get worse…much worse.
Just when I thought all the pieces were on the table, Brian Michael Bendis takes the much-maligned Sentry and turns him loose. With this latest revelation of how the Sentry came to be – not to mention how he’s more unstable than anyone thought – Bendis has taken a tragic figure and made him the definitive x-factor for the Siege event. Whether or not the character winds up saving the day or becoming the most dangerous player is still up in the air, and that’s just a tad frightening.
This issue is all about the eyes. Artist Mike Deodato nailed every beat of this issue by letting the eyes of the characters tell the story, which really focused on the horror of what resides within the Sentry’s mind. From the Sentry, the Sentry’s wife, Lindy and even Osborn himself, the eyes served notice that something wicked this way comes. For even more justification, take a gander at that last page.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! The latest mutant milestone issue gets top billing, Spidey winds up in the wrong sandbox and Guy Gardner sees a whole lot more than just red. As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
X-Factor #200
Marvel Comics – $4.99 US
Writer: Peter David
Artists: Bing Cansino, Marco Santucci, Karl Moline
Score: 9.5/10
X-Factor Investigations makes the move from Detroit to New York in hopes of wrangling some new clients of the super-hero variety, but when their first client winds up being Franklin and Valeria Richards – the children to Reed and Sue Richards of the Fantastic Four – the team realizes that all is not what it seems.
Long-time X-Factor scribe Peter David continues to mix jaw-dropping plot bombs with great characterizations and intelligent humor in this over-sized anniversary special. The mystery of the missing Invisible Woman, on it’s own, is a great story, but throw in Monet’s father being abducted by terrorists, Siryn’s shocking rendezvous with an old flame (hint: he’s nuts) and Layla Miller’s surprising allegiance to Latveria, and you’ve got one hell of a jump-on issue.
The art team of Bing Cansino and Marco Santucci do a great job of pacing this mammoth story, and their takes on the characters are both familiar and fresh. With a title that relies heavily on many speaking scenes, which should come as no surprise to current readers, their art is right on the money, but they also flex their proverbial muscle in the action scenes, especially where the Thing is involved.

Once again, we’re back with another character profile from Marvel’s animated show for kids (and kids of all ages) Super Hero Squad. This time around, we’ve got a profile video of another character on the squad, the Falcon. Be sure to check out this new video after the jump.
And also, as we do, here’s the “official” word on this character directly from Marvel:
Falcon
Falcon flies with wings made of “hard light” (a solid type of hologram). He’s upgraded them with Stark-built “feathers” that shoot out as projectiles. Falcon communicates telepathically with birds, particularly his pet falcon REDWING. He can even “see” through their eyes, which comes in handy when the team needs recon. T
he original adrenaline junkie, Falcon loves anything that moves fast, flies high or causes severe motion sickness. Passionate and optimistic at 17, he’s a born hot-dogger who’s finally made it to the big leagues. Beneath his jokester persona, he’s got a lot to prove.
Falcon’s going to figure out, over time, that he’s as powerful a hero as any and it’s got nothing to do with how much he can bench-press (260, if you must know). The others are going to learn that his tactical judgement is approaching that of his mentor, Cap.

Since the official announcement came out that Marvel Studios was going to make The Avengers movie, I’ve maintained this would be the biggest comic book film ever. Coordinating the efforts to bring so many Marvel characters together, specifically Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, is something that just hasn’t been done before. It’s a massive endeavor and while we know who the heroes will be, the film’s antagonist still remains a mystery.
Speaking with MTV, Hulk star (and The Hulk himself) Edward Norton gave his thoughts on the matter, “In the comics, there was always a tension between the rest of the superhero community and he was always this problem… They treated him as this problem.”. Further, “Norton said he could definitely see the Hulk character becoming something that the rest of Marvel’s superheroes joined forces to battle.”
I agree making the Hulk a “problem” in the upcoming film is necessary as he was the anti-hero of the group; causing as many problems as his alter ego Bruce Banner solved. Perhaps more importantly he was technically a founding member of the team so his inclusion cannot be overlooked. That said, is the Hulk enough to be The Avenger’s sole antagonist? In my opinion, no.
While we have only seen Iron Man and the Hulk on the big screen so far it’s already apparent these heroes are powerful. Very powerful. Once you add Captain American and Thor to the roster you’re going to end up with an incredibly strong team who needs a villain that can equally that might. Also, with Thor dealing with actual Gods like Loki as enemies in his upcoming film, The Avengers will need something major to oppose them. Hulk just isn’t it.
At this point, even I’m still guessing as to who, or what that enemy could be. Have an ideas? Let us know in the comments.

Previously, we brought you the first of our two new video game trailers for today. That one was for the upcoming Electronic Arts and Double Fine game Brutal Legend, featuring the voice and likeness of Jack Black. This time we’ve got the brand new launch trailer for the highly anticipated sequel Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 from Activision.
In this trailer, you get the most complete look at the game ever released and can see just how cool its going to be. I’m particularly excited for this game because of all the great Marvel characters you get to play as. Plus, after having played it a bit during Comic-Con in San Diego, I can say for sure that its pretty damn fun.
The game is “the greatest Super Hero action/RPG of all time is back with the world’s largest army of heroes and villains in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Incorporating elements of the acclaimed Marvel Civil War storyline, players must choose their side and team up to battle or interact with returning favorites and all-new characters, including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Deadpool, Venom, Green Goblin, Iron Fist and Captain America, whose powers can be combined to unleash astonishing new attacks.” Once again, awesome is the word of the day.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 ships to stores on September 15th for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP and DS. Until then, click through to watch the awesome (See what I did there?) new launch trailer.

Last summer’s Iron Man had fans rejoicing after the ending credits when a surprise visit from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury planted the seeds for the upcoming Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, and Avengers films. MTV Splashpage recently caught up with Don Cheadle, and asked the Iron Man 2 star what fans can expect after the credits have rolled.
“Thor and Hulk both make an appearance in this film. They work at a diner,” Cheadle reveals, “You heard it here first. Thor is actually in the movie. He eats Tony Stark. He consumes him into his godlike belly and spews him into the world. He turns into stars actually.”
Fans will have to wait to see how much of Cheadle’s humorous assertion will show up in Iron Man 2, but given the Thor’s 2011 release date, it seems feasible that the thunder god will have some kind of reference point in the film. Hopefully, it won’t include eating Tony Stark.
“It’s a strange twist. I don’t know that they’re going to stay with it. It may not make it to the final cut, but it was cool to see filmed,” Cheadle joked.
Iron Man 2 opens on May 7, 2010.
