Kiefer Sutherland Returning to TV In Fox’s ‘Touch’

by Chris Ullrich, Feb 23 2011 // 1:30 PM

If you’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of Kiefer Sutherland to TV, then today is your lucky day. After taking some time off to do a play on Broadway (among other things) Kiefer Sutherland is ready for a return to primetime TV.

The former star of 24 has reportedly closed a deal to be in the Fox drama pilot Touch, which was written/created by Heroes creator Tim Kring. In the show, Sutherland will play a father who discovers his autistic, mute son can predict events before they happen.

Naturally, once Sutherland’s character knows what’s going to happen, he’s obliged to take action. No, we don’t know if he shoots anyone in the leg during the first episode. However, we can only hope for some Jack Bauer-like action with this new show.

As we mentioned earlier, Sutherland is currently starring in a play, so expect to see Touch as a mid-season show. No word yet on other casting for the pilot (or if that title will change), but expect those details to come soon.

* By the way, we know that’s a picture of Sutherland as Jack Bauer, we just think its cool.

Black Widow Goes Nuts in a New Stop-Motion Fan Film

by Sebastian Suchecki, Feb 22 2011 // 1:30 PM

Who doesn’t love stop motion animation? Hell, Seth Green and Matt Senreich have basically made a career out of it, so what’s to stop fans from the web to continue the trend with their own whacked out storylines?

Enter YouTuber Patrick Boivin, who showed us who would win in epic fan-requested battles like Iron Man vs Bruce Lee and of course the timeless battle of Michael Jackson vs. Mr Bean. Now, Boivin brings us exactly what (he thinks) would happen if/when Iron Man 2′s Black Widow goes completely nuts and takes out some of our favorite fictional characters.

See if you can spot them all, but we definitely noticed Jack Bauer, Robert Patrick, Predator, and Michael Jackson. Needless to say, things get pretty intense, and all to a pretty killer baseline.

Check out the video after the jump.

Fan Film: Jack Bauer Interrogates Santa Claus

by Matt Raub, Dec 23 2010 // 1:30 PM

Many things can be argued about the past 10 years in popular culture, but hands down the most bad ass TV character in recent history has got to be 24‘s Jack Bauer. Maybe it’s how the character is written, maybe it’s just Kiefer Sutherland’s personality coming through the screen, but you wouldn’t want to come across Bauer in a dark alley on a bad day.

With that in mind, and the show being over, fans everywhere have had fantasy scripts and ideas of who Jack Bauer could interrogate and how amazing it would be. From Obama to Chunk from The Goonies, Bauer has been on a rampage of illegal questioning since his show went off the air.

Given the time of year, it only makes sense that Bauer would go after the Man of the Season himself, Santa Claus. How does he deliver gifts to good boys and girls all over the world in one night? How do his reindeer fly? Plutonium? Special Agent Bauer gets to the bottom of it all in a brand new fan film.

Check it out after the jump, and have a Merry Christmas!

Dear ’24′: I Quit You

by Shannon Hood, Feb 18 2010 // 2:00 PM

Dear 24:

When we first met in 2001, you were perfect for me. You were exciting, and dangerous, and knew how to show a lady a good time. But lately, the relationship has lost its luster. I know that this is the natural progression of any relationship, you can’t possibly keep up that same level of intrigue for all these years. After the seven year itch, I settled into a comfort with your familiarity.  I looked forward to spending time with you every Monday night.

But you just had to go and ruin things with all these other women. Rene and Dana ring a bell? Heck, I’ve even got a bone to pick with Chloe this season. I can’t deal with all these other women, and here is why I quit you, mid-episode last Monday, for good. Spoilers abound, so proceed with caution.

Sad/Bad/Mad Rene.  Actually I really like Rene, and I adore Annie Wersching in the role, but there are so many inconsistencies with her character this season, and her spunk has been  replaced with this misguided  self–loathing. Quite frankly, making Rene’s character into such a drag has really been a drag on the show.

I also can’t quite figure out the chronology of Rene’s storyline, which is really not helping the credibility of her story arc. Readers, perhaps you can enlighten me here. Weren’t we told that six years ago Rene went undercover with the Russian gang?  Wouldn’t that make it pre-season 7, in which she was still in uptight prissy mode?  Since President Allison Taylor is still in office, I am assuming this season did not skip forward 10 years because of Presidential term limits.

It’s Official, ’24′ Is Coming To The Big Screen

by Sebastian Suchecki, Feb 9 2010 // 8:00 AM

With the internet community and a few studio execs hinting that this current season of 24 may be the last, big news is now coming out of Twentieth Century Fox’s camp, as they have just announced a film adaptation of the series.

The studio was allegedly blown away by a pitch from screenwriter Billy Ray (State of Play, Flightplan), in which Jack Bauer goes to Europe, and they have already hired him to finish the script for production. From Variety:

Script is said to have come through “24″ star Kiefer Sutherland, who’s also an exec producer on the series — and is said to be eager to turn the long-running TV skein into a feature franchise.

Feature would be produced by the TV show’s key exec producers, including Sutherland. Series was created by Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, while exec producer Howard Gordon runs the show through his Real Time Prods. banner.

New Clips From The ’24′ Season Eight Premiere

by Matt Raub, Jan 7 2010 // 3:33 PM

24-Ep801_Sc155_0175We’re all pretty excited about the upcoming 8th season of Fox’s 24 next Sunday. We broke the very first trailer back in October, took you behind the scenes earlier this week, and now we’ve got some more goodies to get you excited for Jack Bauer and his upcoming adventures.

A few new clips have recently become available, showing off mostly Keifer Sutherland as Bauer, transporting an informant that may have details on an upcoming assassination attempt. Fans of FX’s The Shield may recognize Jack’s informant, as well.

There aren’t many details about how this season’s “day” will unfold, but we do know that Jack has retired; Kim has a daughter; They both live in New York City, and CTU has been completely revamped, with the addition of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff to the team.

Check out the clips after the jump, and catch the action as the eighth season of 24 kicks off on January 17, only on FOX.

Go Behind The Scenes Of ’24′ Season Eight

by Joe Gillis, Jan 5 2010 // 2:30 PM

24_WalkingNYCstreet_djV3_comp6We’ve already talked about January being a big month for Fox with Human Target starting up in a few weeks, and American Idol following shortly thereafter. One huge factor in Fox’s potential ratings success this season will be the return of 24 for it’s eighth and possibly final season.

This season takes place in New York City, which is a first, with Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) just about to get cozy for a life of retirement. Just as that happens, he gets a new mission dropped in his lap, with very little room to continue his life of leisure.

This season promises to have exciting new character archs, including new cast members Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica). A few new surprises, and plenty of Jack Bauer beating up on terrorists.

Check out an all-new behind the scenes featurette on the new season after the jump, and be sure to catch the season premiere of 24 on Sunday, January 17th.

First Trailer for ’24′ Season Eight

by Matt Raub, Oct 29 2009 // 7:00 AM

Picture 2In 8 years, Jack Bauer has become one of the strongest heroic icons on TV. Each year, Keifer Sutherland outdoes himself by pushing his character to new depths and heights. From the looks of the newest trailer, it seems like Jack’s next feat may have to be….grandparenting?

That’s right, 24 is making it’s way back to Fox’s airwaves on January 17th with an all-new season, and Jack Bauer gets brought back into yet another national crisis to save everybody’s butts.

There has been plenty of speculation whether or not this will be the final season of the show, but one thing is almost definite: this may be the last season for Sutherland. He has stated in the past that he’d like to move on to other projects, as much as he loves the show and what he’s done with Jack Bauer. Even a line in the trailer helps guide us in that direction with “Jack must survive one more day”.

Check out the first full trailer for season eight after the jump, and be sure to catch 24 on FOX coming January 17th.

Katee Sackhoff Joins Jack Bauer On ’24′ Next Season

by Chris Ullrich, Jun 8 2009 // 4:50 PM

katee-sackhoffGood news for all you fans of Battlestar Galactica and 24, you can now have both of those great tastes together in one great show. What the heck am I talking about? Well, Katee Sackhoff, who, of course, played Starbuck on BSG, will be joining the cast of Fox’s 24 next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apparently, negotiations have been ongoing for several weeks but are now finished with Sackhoff’s deal done. According to THR, Sackhoff will play CTU expert data analyst Dana Walsh who also has a secret past. She’s also involved with CTU agent Davis Cole (The recently cast Freddie Prinze Jr.) and you know on this show that never seems to go well.

In addition to Prinze, Jr., Sackhoff joins fellow new 24 cast members Jennifer Westfeldt, Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd and Chris Diamantopoulos for the Fox powerhouse’ 8th season. Looks like 24 is putting together quite a large ensemble for next season. Now that Starbuck is on boad the 24 train, who else do you think the show will surprise us with? Personally, I’m hoping for some Grace Park action — but I’m not holding my breath.

Freddy Prinze, Jr. Joins Fox’s ’24′

by Chris Ullrich, May 28 2009 // 2:01 PM

freddie-prinzejrThere’s a few things I can’t seem to get enough of: good beer, fast cars, cool movies, fun comics, first person shooter video games and tv shows where the main character shoots guys in the leg, electrocutes suspects and threatens to stab bad guys in the eye with a pen in order to get them to talk. Of course, I’m talking about the super cool show 24 featuring a great character named Jack Bauer.

24 is one of those shows that’s often over the top but you just gotta love Jack Bauer and his “take no prisoners” attitude. He will do anything to save lives of innocent Americans. And I mean anything. Now, we can potentially add another interesting character to the mix at CTU next season because, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Freddie Prinze, Jr. is joining the cast of the show as a regular character — an ex-marine named Davis Cole who runs CTU Field Ops and wants to follow in the footsteps of Jack Bauer.

I know what you’re thinking and I sorta agree. I’m not sure Prinze, Jr can bring it to the table to play an ex-marine Field Ops guy. I don’t know if he’s got the acting chops. However, I had the same feeling when both Rick Schroder and Mark-Paul Gosselaar joined the cast of NYPD Blue and both of them managed to convince me. Perhaps we should give Freddie a chance to do the same?

Fox’s 24 has begun filming its 8th Season and barring any issues (drunk driving, headbutts, etc.) should premiere next Fall.
