While the world of film and TV awards get more and more jaded to the hardcore fans, it’s time to pay more attention to the forms of media that could, very soon, become the new medium to-be. I’m talking about the form of New Media, or “web series”, which is becoming more and more of what kids are talking about these days.
With that comes, of course, a cornocopia of popular awards to give accolades to these hard-working men and women. One of these is for the The International Academy of Web Television, a freshman organization that’s made to bring more attention to the growing medium.
Yesterday, the nomimations for the first year of awards was announced, and as expected, Sean Becker & Felicia Day’s popular web series The Guild, and the excellent drama series RCVR made out like bandits. From Variety.
“RCVR” racked up a dozen nominations. The show focuses on covert government agents that try to suppress the truth about extraterrestrial encounters and hunt humans selected by an alien species to act as channels for advanced technologies. “The Guild,” a long-running Web series that is arguably the field’s most popular, picked up nine nominations.
Voting is currently underway and the show hits on January 12th in Vegas the upcoming CES. Take a look at the full nominees after the jump.

With so much on the Internets these days, there are plenty of web series that get lost in the fray. Whether due to poor writing, bad directing, sub-par acting or whatever, many just don’t catch on. Some, however, do manage to catch the public eye. One of those few that do is The Legend of Neil.
The online sitcom comes from Sandeep Parikh, who fans of the genre may remember as “Zaboo” from the insanely popular web series The Guild. Fans of Guild will be happy to know that Felicia Day has a recurring role on the show as well, and this series even had a musical episode last season.
What is Legend of Neil? Well, if a drunk in his late 20′s got sucked into a game of Legend of Zelda and realizes exactly how ridiculous the entire concept is, that pretty much describes the show. There’s plenty of humor for video game fans, or even just fans of swearing.
Check out the all new teaser trailer for season 3, which premieres on July 24th just in time for Comic-Con, after the jump.

This week, we’ve been bringing you new clips from the upcoming Christmas episode of Community, which also happens to be the last episode of 2009. In the episode, the gang gets ready for the last week of finals and winter break, while guest star Anthony Michael Hall stops by to torment Joel McHale as “Mike the Bully.”
The show has been picked up for a full order of 22 episodes by NBC, and will be taking a several-week hiatus after the holiday. “Comparative Religion” marks the 12th episode of the season, and has been a flagpole for NBC’s new shows this season.
Anthony Michael Hall joins the guest cast, who’s names have ranged from Patton Oswalt to Eric Christian Olsen to even The Guild’s Sandeep Parikh. Check out the all-new clip after the jump in which Anthony Michael Hall disrupts McHale during his Spanish final.
Be sure to catch Community on NBC this Thursday at 9:30/8:30 Central.

Those who aren’t watching The Legend of Neil, the comedy web series spoofing the Legend of Zelda videogame, are absolutely missing out on a great time. The show was created and directed by Sandeep Parikh, who played Zaboo on the critically acclaimed web series The Guild, co-starring Whedon-favorite Felicia Day.
This show is about a regular screw up who gets sucked into the Zelda game and is not often confused for the main character. Antics ensue. The series originally started a year ago, then got picked up by Atom Films, a partner of Comedy Central.
The first season is out on DVD or online here, but season two seems to be where the action is. Episode 3 just went live, and it’s….a musical! The idea of an online musical seems a bit familiar, but it’s still a pretty impressive episode nonetheless. Each episode airs on Atom.com every Sunday and soon to be released on Comedy Central once the season is over.
Check out episode 3 after the jump and keep up with the NSFW comedic antics of Neil every week!
