The CW Announces Fall Schedule for 2011 – 2012

by Joe Gillis, May 19 2011 // 9:00 AM

Now that NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox have announced their Fall schedules, we’re getting the other, smaller, networks and all of their info. This time around its The CW and their slate of new and returning shows.

CW’s fall schedule includes 3 blocks of shows from top producers, with One Tree Hill being held for midseason. There will be a Josh Schwartz/Stephanie Savage block on Monday, with new medical drama Hart of Dixie airing after Gossip Girl.

Kevin Williamson takes over Thursday night with new teen witch drama The Secret Circle following The Vampire Diaries, and McG is the man for Friday with Nikita taking over at 8 PM for Smallville with Supernatural still at 9PM. 90210 is moving from Monday to Tuesday to help launch the new Sarah Michelle Gellar drama Ringer.

As sad as we were to see Smallville go its nice to see Gellar return to TV. Let’s hope her new show does her justice. It won’t be Buffy (obviously) but let’s hope its good.

Here’s the full release from the CW as well as the schedule and descriptions of the new shows:

The CW Network will unveil the schedule for its 2011-2012 season today at its annual upfront presentation for advertisers, affiliates and national media from Jazz at Lincoln Center. Electro hip-hop group LMFAO will stage a rousing flash mob dance and performed their hit song “Party Rock Anthem” to open the show. The announcement was made by Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment, and Mark Pedowitz, the new President of The CW.

“We’re thrilled to present the most exciting primetime schedule The CW has ever had, comprised of shows that feature bold concepts, proven TV stars and up-and-coming, breakout talent,” said Ostroff. “In just five years, we’ve built an instantly recognizable brand that resonates with both viewers and advertisers and is known for being smartly provocative, culturally current, emotionally authentic and a leader in digital and social media. This upcoming season will continue to establish The CW as a premier destination for our viewers, especially women.”

All-Star Cast Announced for ‘COD: Black Ops Escalation – Call of the Dead’ Including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo and More!

by Chris Ullrich, Apr 26 2011 // 3:49 PM

It’s interesting when the cast of a downloadable map pack for a video game is cooler than casts for most of the movies being released these days. What the heck am I talking about? Why, its the eclectic ensemble assembled for Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation “Call of the Dead” map pack of course.

Some of the names featured in this release include Robert England, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker Danny Trejo and legendary zombie master director himself George Romero. Oh, and did we mention that this map pack is chock full of flesh eating zombies? Who doesn’t love that, amiright?

It’s cool that Michel Rooker is involved in this seeing as how he’s become such an important part of AMC’s The Walking Dead series. Also, nice to see Sarah Michelle Gellar back in action as well.

Check out the full press release after the jump. In addition, we’ve got a new trailer and more screenshots for the map pack too. Check ‘em out!

Restore Joss Whedon And His Ass-Kicking Chicks

by Chris Ullrich, May 6 2010 // 10:00 AM

In case you’re not familiar with the story of actor Steven Baldwin. He’s had a long career, was pretty popular and did some decent movies, including The Usual Suspects. But now, according to reports, he’s broke and needs money.

So, what do celebrities do when they’re broke and need money? They turn to the Internets of course. Although, according to the site established by a Christian ministry for Baldwin he didn’t commission them to put it together, they are just doing it to help out the actor.

What does all this have to do with Joss Whedon and his ass-kicking chicks? Glad you asked. Watch the video after the jump and all will be revealed in a pretty hilarious way.

Enjoy and don’t say we never gave you anything good.

Buffy Swan Refuses to Suck

by Diane Panosian, Mar 16 2010 // 12:00 PM

As I was watching the new Eclipse trailer, out of sheer boredom and a hint of curiosity, I found myself wondering why in the world two super-powered boys would fight it out over a girl clad in American Apparel who’s a hell of a downer.

How is there an entire film series devoted to one girl’s delusional obsessions of a fairy tale ending with a born-again killer? Sparkely vampires want to kill you, strapping werewolf shape-shifters want to keep you safe.

Do these Edward fans have a death wish and a yearning for abandonment? Is Bella Swan so heavily marketed as mesmerizing that it erases the history of the brazen blonde that came before her?

A long time ago, otherwise known as the 90’s, there was a series called Buffy the Vampire Slayer where a feisty girl from the southland slayed Urban Outfitted demons. This legendary show paved the way for multi-tasking girls who cheer by day, slay by night, and every once in a while hook-up with a tormented blood sucker.

Buffy Summers Vs. Edward Cullen

by Joe Gillis, Jun 21 2009 // 6:00 AM

buffy-and-edward

One of the great things about the Internets is you often find lots of creative people with time on their hands. Some of them even have talent. In those cases, we are often lucky enough to get some great videos put together and then shared with the online world at large. This is one of those cases.

In this very clever video by RebelliousPixels, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer at Sunnydale High. According to the folks that made this video: “It’s an example of transformative storytelling serving as a visual critique of Edward’s character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy’s eyes some of the more patriarchal gender roles and sexist Hollywood tropes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed in hilarious ways.”

Sounds good to me. Let’s get to it. Check out the video after the jump.
