Tales from the Crypt, the campy-yet-excellent horror staple of the early 90s television, is back in news as producers are hoping to reignite that spark once again with a modern reboot. After 15 years of being off the small screen, the horror series will be returning to television.
The new series is being developed by Gil Adler, a producer on the original HBO series, and Andrew Cosby, best known for his work on Eureka. The hour-long series will be based on the comics. Unlike it’s predecessor, the new series will not follow the anthology format, but will follow a standard series format using the characters in an ongoing storyline format.
Those of you who read the original comic books will see this is a strange turn of events as the comics didn’t have much in the way of returning characters. Other than The Crypt-Keeper, The Vault-Keeper and The Old Witch, all other characters and the “victims” of the stories always changed. It is also being reported that The Crypt-Keeper, The Vault-Keeper and The Old Witch are not going to be part of the new series.
The original HBO series, which spawned collectibles and movies through out the 90s, ran for seven seasons. It attracted an impressive stable of directors and actors including Robert Zemeckis, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Buscemi, Tim Curry, Whoopi Goldberg, Teri Hatcher, Kirk Douglas, Joe Pesci, Brad Pitt, Ewan McGregor, Malcom McDowell, Bob Hoskins, Brooke Sheilds, Benicio Del Toro, Demi Moore, Martin Sheen, Richard Donner, Walter Hill, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks, William Friedkin, Tobe Hoober and Michael J. Fox.

Excited for the upcoming SyFy adaptation of Lweis Carrol’s classic Alice in Wonderland tale? Well, if so you’re in luck because we’ve got a preview of that two-part drama for you right here. According to the network, this version of the story will be “an entirely new look at “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass.”
For this re-imagined adaptation, writer/director Nick Willing “mines the bizarre ingenuity and twisted logic of Carroll’s work to create a daringly different, boldly colorful and delightfully skewed dreamscape of his own.” Well, that does sound interesting, doesn’t it?
I wonder what Tim Burton would say about that? He’s been known to create a few different and bold dreamscapes himself. Oh well, I guess we’ll get a chance to compare this version with Burton’s when his hits theaters.
Until then, check out the preview for this Alice after the jump. Alice, which features Kathy Bates, Tim Curry, Colm Meaney and Natasha Calis, premieres this Sunday at 9/8C on SyFy.

We’ve been bringing you quite a lot of coverage of next month’s release of Brütal Legend, Activision’s newest explosion of heavy metal and fantasy video games. Jack Black, Tim Curry, Lemmy, and Ozzy Osbourne are just some of the names that lend their talents to this epic video game, and there’s more gore and humor than you can shake a stick at!
The plot is about Eddie Riggs (Jack Black), the world’s greatest roadie, who can rig or fix just about anything in the world. He gets transported to a mystical world where rock is REAL and used to vanquish evil foes. You follow Riggs as he takes down demons and dragons using his epic axe and electric guitar.
The game is quite a lot of fun, and we’ll be sure to have a review up for you to check out soon. But for now, you get an exclusive peak at the intro video from the game that sets up the story. An interesting tool used throughout the game is an option to choose gore and profanity over censored violence and dialogue. This allows some of the older fans to take advantage of the brutality of Brütal Legend, while also appeasing parents who don’t want their children subjected to such things.
Check out the video after the jump. Brütal Legend hits game stores on Rocktober 13th.
