Good news for comics and Sci-Fi fans: Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski, who’s no stranger to the world of comics having penned several titles for Marvel, will be taking over DC Comics’ Superman and Wonder Woman titles on an ongoing basis, starting in July.
According to the DC Comics Blog:
Starting in July with SUPERMAN #701 and WONDER WOMAN #601, superstar writer J. Michael Straczynski—a man who’s created layered and compelling characters and worlds on the big screen, on television and across the comic book spectrum—dives head-first into the DC Universe by taking the ongoing writing reins for two-thirds of the fabled DCU trinity.
Straczynski himself is very excited to take on these two iconic characters. According to the writer:
“For as long as I’ve been doing conventions (starting in the early Cretaceous period, when it was just me and a handful of pterosaurs on a panel debating whether or not mammals with opposable thumbs were really necessary to the writing of quality comics, a point still hotly debated today), there has always been the same question from folks in the audience: “Is there any one character who is your dream character to write for?” The answer has always been the same: Superman.
When I first came over to DC, that dream was realized in part by Dan DiDio’s gracious invitation to write the first of potentially many Superman original graphic novels. Now the dream has come fully true with the opportunity to write for the mainstream title, in a story that returns Superman to his roots in a way that will have the whole country talking about him in ways that we haven’t seen in a long time.

Welcome to Episode 10 of The Flickcast. We’re very happy to have reached this milestone and thank you, the readers and listeners, for making it happen. We appreciate you. Okay, enough pats on the back, let’s get on with the show.
Previously on The Flickcast, Chris, Matt and Christina discussed various topics including a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie without Joss Whedon, the reboot of Flight of the Navigator, and the merits of Terminator: Rise of the Machines.
This week the team is back once again and ready for action. In this episode, they discuss a broad range of topics including the Twilight phenomenon, the MTV Movie Awards, the success of Pixar’s Up, the merits of Drag Me to Hell, some cool Deadpool and E3 news, Danny McBride’s new movie project, the Megan Fox as Wonder Woman “controversy”, who we think should star in a Wonder Woman movie and that Matt, for some reason, doesn’t seem to like Jessica Biel or Hallle Berry.
Plus, there’s some new picks this week including Matt’s favorite new horror movie, Drag Me to Hell, one of Christina’s favorite movies, Closer, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Chris’ favorite video game where you get to kill terrorists, drive fast, shoot machine guns from an airplane and blow stuff up.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques or offers of sponsorship, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter and at Facebook, MySpace or via email.

You may have figured out we’re fans of Megan Fox here at The Flickcast. We’ve not made a secret of it for sure. And yes, even though her obvious physical charms far outweigh her acting abilities (At least for the time being. She’s still improving), we still like to suggest her for upcoming roles we feel she would be perfect for. One such role would see the comely Ms. Fox playing the Amazonian warrior princess Wonder Woman in any feature film that eventually gets made. We think it would be a great role for her.
Sadly, at least according to The Times Online, it doesn’t look like our dreams for Ms. Fox are inline with here own. In fact, she has no desire whatsoever to play Wonder Woman and even goes so far as to call the character “lame.” According to Fox: “Wonder Woman is a lame superhero. She flies around in her invisible jet and her weaponry is a lasso that makes you tell the truth. I just don’t get it. Somebody has a big challenge on their hands whoever takes that role but I don’t want to do it.”
The Times Online also claims Fox turned down the chance to take over for Angelina Jolie in the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, so don’t expect to see her doing backflips, firing two giant guns while wearing skimpy shorts and a clingy tank top any time soon. You hear that sound? That’s the sound of fanboys everywhere sighing in dissapointment.
Check out the larger, fan-made, Megan Fox as Wonder Woman poster after the jump and enjoy it because that’s the closest you’re gonna get.

Over the years there’s been quite a few films adapted from the pages of comics such as Batman, Superman, the X-Men, the Hulk, Spider-Man and Iron Man. But with all of these films and with quite a few more coming up, there’s never been a live-action Wonder Woman movie — at least so far.
With all the rumors and false starts in the last few years concerning the live-action Wonder Woman, its sometimes difficult to discern fact from rumor, with many bits of info and discussions sparking a great deal of controversy among fanboys and girls. One of the biggest points of contention when talking about a Wonder Woman movie is, of course, who will play the Amazon heroine.
Lots of names have been bandied about previously and now, according to MTV’s Splashpage, we can add one back to the list of potentials: Jessica Biel. During an interview with MTV promoting another film, Biel was asked about Wonder Woman and if she would consider the role after reportedly passing on it in 2007. Her response?
“If Wonder Woman had the right script and it was really powerful and emotional and interesting, I would be into that kind of thing,” said Biel in the interview. “I feel that sometimes the character development gets thrown to the wayside in those movies, and I’m really interested in that kind of thing,” she said.
“So if both the elements could be there—the physicality and a real developed character, whether it’s a Wonder Woman thing or a Justice League thing—I’m open to it,” she concluded.
Well, there you have it. Are you listening Warner Bros.?
