It’s Wednesday and that means we’ve got a brand new episode of The Flickcast for your listening pleasure. We worked hard on it (and got in done on time) so, please, enjoy.
On this week’s show Chris and Joe jump right in and talk all things Marvel including new Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, Dr. Strange casting rumors and more. They also discuss Edge of Tomorrow, and what’s going to happen to Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones. Plus, the ever-present more.
The guys also made picks this week. Chris’ pick is the latest Liam Neeson action/thriller Non-Stop and Joe’s pick is another podcast called Welcome to Night Vale . Listen to it, it’s pretty good.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or via email.

Liam Neeson is Bill Marks, a U.S. Federal air marshal with the obligatory checkered past and a delightful host of vices. Midway through a trans-Atlantic flight he receives a text message from an untraceable number that claims in 20 minutes someone on the plane will die…unless a $150 million is deposited into a special account. And Bill, with the help of stewardess Nancy (Michelle Dockery) and plucky passenger Jen (Julianne Moore) must uncover the identity of the potential killer/hijacker.
That’s all you need; if you want to know how the rest of the movie plays out, just imagine everything you can do with that premise, as the passengers gradually become more and more aware of the situation and Marks’s control gradually diminishes – or, better yet, see the film.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, Unknown) maintains a consistent feel of paranoia by keeping his camera close and confined to the actors’ faces, barely giving the audience a chance to breathe and, early on, lingering on a handful of passengers to playfully suggest that any one or two or all of them could be the culprit. Even before the mystery begins you’re already suspicious, and while I was hoping for the villain to be revealed as the little girl’s teddy bear (Spoiler: It’s not), it wasn’t too much of stretch, given Collet-Serra’s insinuation that everyone on this damn plane must be hiding something.

Time is , as usual, short so we’ll make this quick. Here’s another new episode of The Flickcast.
In this the third episode of 2014, Chris and Joe are back in business and on a roll. As always, they’ve spared no expense and pulled no punches discussing the topics of this week’s show.
Some of these topics include the Oscar nominations, casting news from the movies Ant Man and Dr. Strange and more in the continuing discussion of the evolution of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Of course, there’s whole lot of that more you’ve come to expect from a quality program like this, but we can’t give it all away, now can we? You’ll just have to listen.
This week’s picks include Chris’ pick of the TV show Helix and Joe’s pick of the comic Miracle Man from Marvel.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or via email.

Sure, okay, there’s a LEGO movie. But you know what, it doesn’t look that bad. In fact, it looks pretty darn good. Yeah, we were surprised too.
And now, Warner Bros has released a trailer for it for all to enjoy. Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman provide the voices and the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs team of Phil Lord & Christopher Miller wrote and directed.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for The LEGO Movie to hit theaters on February 7.

This won’t necessarily be a regular thing here at The Flickcast, but we seem to be seeing a lot of cool trailers this week, so we thought we would bring a few of them to your attention. Some of these cool trailers include Liam Neeson as a guy with a particular set of skills in Non-Stop and the next installment in the Paranormal Activity franchise, a spin-off called The Marked Ones.
We also have the trailer for Wes Anderson’s next opus and it’s called The Grand Budapest Hotel. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like he’s going to deliver an engaging and poignant story once again. We don’t get tired of watching his movies, and hopefully you don’t either.
Anyway, here’s three of the hot trailers out there right now. What do you think about these movies? Looking forward to any of them?

Superman. Michelangelo. Kobe Bryant. Where could you possibly see them all in the same movie? Well since the title of the article already spoiled it for you, I don’t have to leave you in suspense before revealing The LEGO Movie as the answer. Chris Pratt will lead an ensemble cast including Morgan Freeman as Vitruvius, an old mystic, and Liam Neeson taking the role as Bad Cop. As you’ll see in the teaser below, The LEGO Movie is far from your typical film.
In a world where continuity barely exists, tons of LEGO licenses are brought together in what may be considered an ultimate mashup style movie. Similar to the vein of Toy Story where the setting explains why this variety of characters would be together, The LEGO Movie has Pratt’s character Emmet who mistakenly finds his way into a fellowship of Master Builders including Freeman’s Vitruvius, Batman, Superman and the like.
They will be taking on Neeson and Will Farrell (who upgraded from President to Lord Business) in this CG movie. Interestingly enough, the movie is presented in a stop motion fashion even though it is obviously CG. Even more interesting is that there are collections of YouTube creators out there making actually stop motion that looks smoother than that of the trailer.

Well kudos to Taken 2, it was speculated in this very spot last week that the poor word of mouth and reviews would put a big dip into the action sequel’s take this weekend. The wrongness is strong with this one.
The Liam Neeson punch-fest held off the critical darling Argo for the top spot yet again in the box office trenches. The film brought in an estimated $22.5 Million over the three-day weekend with a relatively healthy dip of only 54.6%. For an R-rated action film with a built-in audience who presumably all went and saw it the first weekend, that drop is pretty strong.
Argo came up in second, with a still very respectable $20 Million weekend. The Affleck directed ‘incredible true story’ did about as well as a movie of this nature can reasonably expect to do, and with the heaps and heaps of love and positive word of mouth this film is getting it should play well for a few more weeks.

The consensus seems to be that Taken 2 is a lesser version of its predecessor, but in this day and age an opening weekend has as much to do with the reception of the last film than anything else. Which ends up being a very good industry trend for the Liam Neeson sequel as the movie racked in one of the biggest October openings ever.
Coming in at a cool $50 million, Taken 2 easily won this weekend’s box office tussle. The reviews and word of mouth have not been kind to the film, so it might have a big drop off next weekend, but at this point in time the movie is a win. If it some how finds some minimal legs amid the poor word of mouth, the movie can still get over $100 million and end up in the hit category.
Hotel Transylvania held very well to come into second place with $26+ million over the weekend. The success of Transylvania should be exciting to any one who claims to be a true fan of animation despite the celebrity-centric casting. The movie was the directorial debut of Genndy Tartakovsky, the mastermind behind Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars. With this film a hit hopefully we will be seeing much more from this animation great.

Let’s just stipulate for the record that Liam Neeson is a badass. This is even more impressive given the fact that Neeson is 60 years old, and age when most people are starting to take it easy.
Neeson apparently didn’t get that memo because he’s back with yet another action extravaganza. This time around it’s the sequel to his previous hit Taken. The film in question is, of course, Taken 2.
There’s a new trailer for Taken 2 out now and we’ve got it for you after the break. In the new film the bad guys turn the tables and come after Neeson’s character’s family, again played by Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen.
Olivier Megaton takes over directing duties from original helmer Pierre Morel. Fox releases the sequel October 5.

We don’t need to set this up or provide any commentary. All you need to know is that Liam Neeson kicks ass and takes lots of names and then goes and kicks those people’s assess too.
In short, he’s a badass. And no, there’s no wolves . . . at least not yet.
Enjoy the new Taken 2 trailer after the break. Look for the whole movie in theaters on October 5th.
