This weekend may be a tough choice at the box office for most theater-goers. But if you’re looking for a film that will blow your eyeballs right out of your sockets, it looks like Rogue Pictures’ Skyline may be that film.
Directed by the team of Colin and Greg Strause, the SFX brothers who have worked on films like Avatar to Iron Man 2, the film is setting itself to be an epic alien invasion movie in the vain of Cloverfield, Independence Day, and War of the Worlds. Just imagine if Roland Emmerich or Matt Reeves knew, from personal experience, what was possible in the scheme of digital effects.
There isn’t much to the story that we haven’t seen before, but the element to keep an eye out for here is the use of CG effects and how an entire film can play into that world. We’ve got two spoiler-free clips for you to check out after the jump.
Be sure to catch Skyline in theaters everywhere this Friday.

Horror master Wes Craven is back with another scary film called My Soul To Take. Although some of here are not big fans of 3D, we will still give due respect to the man responsible for the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and so many other great horror films.
Craven knows his way around the horror genre and with this new film he’s telling a new story in a new way. To illustrate that, we’ve got a clip from the film to share with you today that’s almost two minutes long.
To set it up, this film concerns a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again.
Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer — and you might also from this clip.
Click through to check out the scene after the jump. My Soul to Take, which features Max Thieriot, Denzel Whitaker, Zena Grey and Emily Meade, hits theaters tomorrow.

So it may have been tried before Sukiyaki Western Django and The Good, The Bad and the Weird, but this time, the genre mashup is making it’s way to the big screen via Rogue Pictures. Also, if you’re still a bit weary, you can expect to see some familiar faces in the film as well.
Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth, and Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) join the cast in what looks to be an incredible film. Here’s the official synopsis.
The Warrior’s Way, a visually-stunning modern martial arts western starring Korean actor Dong-gun Jang who plays an Asian warrior assassin forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands.
The film turned enough heads that Lord of the Rings producer Barrie M. Osborne helped bring this film to plenty of screens across the country this December.
Check out the first official trailer for the film after the jump and catch Warrior’s Way in theaters everywhere on December 3rd.

Every year, one film likes to stand out as the tiny indie flick that comes out of left field and turns heads everywhere. Last year’s is most memorable, as Paranormal Activity blew up in the box office and kept people awake for weeks. Now it looks like Rogue Pictures’ Catfish may do the same.
For those not in the loop, here’s the official synopsis:
In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel’s brother, Nev. They had no idea that their project would lead to the most exhilarating and unsettling months of their lives. A reality thriller that is a shocking product of our times, Catfish is a riveting story of love, deception and grace within a labyrinth of online intrigue.
The film plays itself like a classic tale of romance, with a modern social networking twist, and then turns into something completely different. We’ve got four new clips to prove that point, served up just for you.
Take a look at the clips after the jump, and catch Catfish in limited theaters on September 17th.

This year at Comic-Con, one of the cooler features of the show didn’t actually take place on the con floor, but just outside of it, as Universal set up a machine outside that released several people-shaped bubbles into the heavens. Nobody had any idea what this meant, or what the movie even was, until now.
The first trailer for Skyline directed by The Brothers Strause, visual effects masters involved with such films as Iron Man, Jonah Hex, 2012, Bedtime Stories, Avatar and more, has hit the Interwebs. And we, of course, have it for you to watch.
Basically the film is about two guys who, hungover, walk outside after a late night party to see their world overrun by alien spacecrafts. People are drawn outside of their homes by a light that then sucks them up into the air.
The imagery itself is quite impressive, so we’ll see if the rest of the film can carry the weight. Even though the brothers have little directing experience, at the very least, you know the film will look pretty.
Check out the first full trailer of the film after the jump. Be sure to catch Skyline in theaters everywhere on November 12th.

Since Tarantino and Rodriguez reintroduced the allure of the Grind House genre to an unsuspecting worldwide audience, original films and scripts from that time have been fair game for studios to snatch up and update for the modern audience. Rogue continued that trend last year by rebooting Wes Craven’s classic Last House On The Left. It opened with moderate success, and now it’s Anchor Bay’s turn, with a reboot of 1978’s I Spit On Your Grave (also known as Day of the Woman).
For those not in the know, this is basically the ultimate revenge flick, updated for the modern, jaded youth with ultra sex and hyper violence. Need more? Here’s the film’s full synopsis.
Writer Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler) takes a retreat from the city to a charming cabin in the woods to start on her next book. But Jennifer’s presence in the small town attracts the attention of a few morally deprived locals who set out one night to teach this city girl a lesson. They break into her cabin to scare her. However, what starts out as terrifying acts of humiliation and intimidation, quickly and uncontrollably escalates into a night of physical abuse and torturous assault. But before they can kill her, Jennifer sacrifices her broken and beaten body to a raging river that washes her away. Against all odds, Jennifer Hills survived her ordeal. Now, with hell bent vengeance, Jennifer’s sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her… only much, much worse.
Just hitting the web is the trailer to this frightening remake, and we can honestly admit that this remake plans on doing the original film justice.
Check out the full trailer after the jump, and be sure to catch the full film in theaters and Unrated on October 8th. No word on how a lack of MPAA rating will effect distribution, but be sure that we’ll be the first in line when this flick hits our local theater.

Though our vote may have already been cast for Hot Tub Time Machine to go down as the “Comedy of the Year”, we are still early in the running, and by the looks of it, MacGruber may put up quite a fight.
We got our first look at the film back in January, with matching green and red band trailers. Since then, things have been a bit quiet while the film debuted at SXSW last month. Nothing but rave reviews have come from that screening, and we’re all pretty excited to hear more.
Before we get closer to the film’s release date, however, we’ve got some great new marketing for the film on the way. Starting with an awesome new iPhone app which comes with some great tools like The Mullet Generator, Bomb Defuser Challenge, a cool soundboard, and more.
MacGruber is also now trolling around on Twitter, being outrageous, and only a little inappropriate. Finally, there’s a brand new red band trailer, this time focusing more on Val Kilmer’s “Von Cunth” character.
Check that out after the jump, and be sure to catch MacGruber in theaters on May 21. By clicking through you certify you are eighteen years of age or older.
