On January 24, 1984 the first Macintosh computer from Apple was launched. And the world was never the same again.
Regardless of your personal feelings towards Apple or its products, there’s no denying the company changed the personal computer world forever with the introduction of the Macintosh. And in the 30 years since, many of us here at The Flickcast (and elsewhere to be sure) couldn’t imagine going through our day, or getting work done, without one.
To commemorate this milestone, Apple has a special home page on its website and a video to celebrate “30 years of Mac innovation.” The company has also created a special section on its website dedicated to the 30 years of Mac.
On one of the many pages at Apple’s website dedicated to the Mac, there’s a quote from Steve Jobs which helps set the stage and encapsulates fully the lasting legacy that is the Mac.
“We’re just in the beginning stages of what will be a truly remarkable breakthrough for most people — as remarkable as the telephone,” said Jobs.
How right he was. Check out the video after the break. Happy 30th Mac!

He’s not Steve Jobs (obviously) but he plays him in a movie. Of course, we’re referring to none other than the ex-misses Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher.
While Kutcher is certainly no Steve Jobs and Josh Gadd, the guy playing Apple co-founder and Segway addict Steve Wozniack is no Woz, the duo will be taking to the stage at next week’s MacWorld | iWorld Expo at the Moscone Center in San Fancisco headlining a session about the iconic co-founders.
The best part? They will be doing the session in character as Jobs and Woz. Yep, you read that right.
The session, titled “Playing Steve & Woz,” will take place on the main stage, room 2005 on Thursday, January 31 at 9:00 AM Pacific. Oh boy, that can’t be good, right? Or, will it be so bad, it’s gonna be great? Who knows but it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Macworld | iWorld 2013 runs from January 31 to February 2 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. It’s a great event and definitely worth checking out.

It’s 1995 and your Steve Jobs. You’ve left Apple after a bitter struggle with the guy you brought in to help run the company. You’ve founded a new company, NeXT, which will one day become one of the main building blocks of the most successful tech company in the world.
But what are you thinking?
Well, if you’re interested in what Steve Jobs was thinking at that time, you’re in luck because Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview is now at iTunes for you to watch, enjoy and learn from. Here’s bit more on the interview itself:
In the interview Jobs talks about his pioneering days with Steve Wozniak, when they built a Blue Box and phoned the Pope; how they – “two guys who didn’t know much” — assembled the first Apple computer and went on to found the Apple company. “I was worth around a million dollars when I was 23, over 10 million dollars when I was 24 and over 100 million dollars when I was 25 – and it wasn’t really important!”

TNT will preempt it’s primetime lineup tonight at 8PM and 10PM E/P to run back-to-back airings of it’s 1999 original movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. This is the only movie, so far, to depict the rise of Apple co-founder and visionary Steve Jobs, who tragically died yesterday at the age of 56.
The film follows the race between computer rivals Apple and Microsoft and stars Noah Wyle as Jobs, Anthony Michael Hall as Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Joey Slotnick as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
I haven’t watched the film in quite some time but I’m sure I will be tonight.
