Who doesn’t love “shoot ‘em up” films? They’ve been instant favorites for their targeted male audience members since the days of John Wayne in The Searchers. Things haven’t really changed in half of a century, as we prepare for even more stuff to get shot at in this week’s release of The Losers.

Yesterday, we brought you two new clips starring some of the bigger names of the film such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, and Zoe Saldana. Today’s clip may only feature Zoe and Whiteout’s Columbus Short, but it does, however, feature a helicopter lifting a SWAT truck off the ground using a giant magnet. That do anything for you?

MGM is one of those staple studios that has been around since the beginning. To this day, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is one of the oldest studios that is still producing films, but sadly it looks like that won’t be for very long. The studio has been hemorrhaging money for some time, and when put up for sale, it hasn’t gotten large enough bids from other studios to consider a deal.

At this point, MGM obtained to sole distribution rights to one major franchise in James Bond. They teamed up with Sony to produce and distribute Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, but that didn’t seem enough to keep the studio afloat long enough to produce the next film.

In a recent press release from EON Productions Ltd., a production company who has worked with the franchise since Dr. No back in 1962, they seem to think this is the end of production for Bond 23.

“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on ‘Bond 23′ indefinitely,” the duo said. “We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release.”

Back in 1984, the nation was introduced and shortly developed a crush on Alyssa Milano, playing the daughter on ABC’s Who’s The Boss. Since then, Milano has practically grown up in front of the camera, doing Boss for 8 years, and then moving onto the WB’s Charmed for another 8.

Now, Milano is making her return to the multi-camera styled sitcom in Romantically Challenged. This time, she’s the lead, and not playing the typical straight-man. We got the chance to talk to Alyssa about the show and other things including her role in Ghostbusters and Charmed.

The Flickcast: With your brand new show, Romantically Challenged starting tonight, what can you tell me about the show?

Alyssa Milano: Well, it’s about a group of friends that are basically so bad at dating that they will make anyone’s love-life look good. It’s a show about people trying to find their “happily ever after”. What I love about it is that I think everyone will be able to relate to it.

I play Rebecca Thomas, a newly divorced mother of a 15 year old son who married her high school sweetheart, which means she never really dated. Overall it’s really just a humorous look at what single people have to go through every day to find love.

Warning: heavy spoilers for this episode ahead. In the world of Breaking Bad, this was a relatively quiet episode.  A lot happened, but it was mostly character driven, not action.

Once again, we begin with a flashback, this time we get to see how that ubiquitous RV was actually acquired.  Shortly after Walt met with Jesse to discuss going into business together, Walt (still sporting a full head of hair) hands over $8500 dollars (which is basically all his money) to get them an RV to cook in.  Jesse takes the money and immediately tries to find the best deal for them.  Nah, I’m just kidding.

Intoxicated by the cash burning a hole in his pocket, Jesse heads to a strip bar, and promptly proceeds to order $400 bottles of “Don-Perri-Don” as he calls it.  He’s cavorting with the now deceased Combo, and the two party their balls off until the sun rises.  When Jesse walks out of the bar, he is dismayed to find that he only has $1400 of the original $8500 left.  Where is he going to find an RV for that measly sum?  Fortunately, Combo knows just the RV, and the deal is done.

Flash forward to real time, and it looks like Hank has found his white whale RV.  He is casing the RV with partner Steven, and since all the windows are covered, he decides to climb up on top of the RV to look through the rooftop window.  When he peers down into the RV, he is greeted with screams by a half naked man and woman who are playing cards in the vehicle.  Doh!  Wrong RV.

This weekend, Warner Bros. will be kicking off this year’s epic summer blockbuster season with…you guessed it, a comic book film. Though this story isn’t a traditional comic book story. There are no capes, no costumes, just spies and renegades blowing stuff up in The Losers.

The film follows the Vertigo comic by Andy Diggle about a Special Forces team for the C.I.A. who are betrayed by their handler and left for dead. They decide to take revenge, uncovering a much bigger plot. It’s a regular who’s who of sci-fi and comic book film actors with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar), Idris Elba (Thor), and of course the ubiquitous Chris Evans, who’s in Fantastic Four, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and now the titular lead in Captain America.

Check out the first two clips from the film, in which you get a sexy-ish fight scene between Dean Morgan and Saldana, and some fun banter between Elba and Evans. Battle of the Bulge (1965) was an Anglo-American production directed by Ken Annakin (The Longest Day).  The film debuted at the Cinerama Dome Theater in Hollywood on December 16, 1965, which was the twenty first anniversary of when the battle began. Filmed in ultra Panavision 70mm, the film also boasts a cast which includes Dana Andrews (Col. Pritchard), Charles Bronson (Major Wolinski), Henry Fonda (Lt. col. Kiley), Robert Ryan (Gen. Grey), Telly Savalas (Sgt. Guffy), and Robert Shaw (Col. Hessler).

Even though the film was made with an expensive budget and tried to convey the essence of the battle and its effects on the beginning of the end of the war in Europe, the film failed to bring realism to the screen. Battle of the Bulge for me is a guilty pleasure film because it has a great cast, great battle sequences, and a great score, but the film does make me laugh at certain aspects for instance, trying to pass off the Spanish desert as the the snow covered wilderness of northern Europe, or passing off American Patton tanks painted grey like German Tiger Tanks. These were major gripes from veterans who were astounded that the filmmakers could overlook such important details.

That would be like trying to recreate George Washington’s famous crossing of the Delaware River to capture the Hessian garrison while doing so on landing craft. In those days, it was hard to film on actual battlefield locations, or try to acquire many armaments, so the production designers had to do whatever was necessary. In my opinion, they should have tried a little harder for realistic landscapes and suitable German tanks.

Granted, we tend to take many things with a giant grain of salt around here, especially news and photos claiming to be anything coming from Apple that hasn’t been officially announced by the company. With Apple’s well known obsession with secrecy and controlling the message leaks, especially of this magnitude, just don’t usually happen.

So, it was with that giant grain of salt that I took a look at the photos and specs of the supposed new iPhone which is now being showcased by the gang at Gizmodo. The new iPhone, reported to have been “found in a bar” and then given to the site, has a radically different design and features that seem, at least on the surface, to be real.

Although, I do have a hard time believing any Apple employee with this kind of access would accidentally leave something like a new iPhone in a bar. I personally know several people who work for the company and have met many more over the years and I’m pretty sure none of them are that stupid. Still, I guess anything is possible.

So, if we concede the iPhone is indeed real, here’s what Gizmodo found is new and different about it:

What’s new
• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

Last year, the world was introduced to a brand new series called Deadliest Warrior on the Spike Network which helped answer questions people had been fighting over for decades such as “Who would win a fight between a Pirate and a Knight?” or a “Spartan vs. a Ninja?” Tomorrow night, the show returns for a season that is deemed to be “bigger and bloodier bloodier.”

The show was able to give the audience a definitive answer for the first time, using simulated algorithms from data collected by weapons, settings, and training. The research team is made up of three men. Max Geiger, the simulations programmer who analyzes and enters all of the data into the computer, Dr. Armand Dorian, the medical expert who determines exactly how much damage each weapon inflicts on it’s victim, and host Geoff Desmoulin, the biomedical scientist and high-speed camera operator who introduces the audience to each of the warriors and helps us determine who is deadliest.

We recently got to sit down with Geoff to talk about Season 2 of Deadliest Warrior, as well as some potential ideas and match ups for upcoming seasons of the show. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

It was a shocking and unusual weekend at the box office. Fanboys (and girls) are all scratching their heads trying to figure out how Kick-Ass got its butt kicked by a four week old dragon. That’s right, How to Train Your Dragon claimed the number one spot by a narrow margin of about $250,000, which means we may have a repeat of last week. If you recall, when I wrote the box office piece last week, Date Night was the winner, but by the time the final numbers came in on Monday, it turned out that Clash of the Titans had edged out Date Night by a cool million.

How to Train Your Dragon fell only 20% (remarkable for four weeks in release), and now has made $158 Million. Early numbers are showing about $20 Million for the weekend. Other films that actually seemed to gain momentum during their theatrical run were A Christmas Carol, and Avatar. Dragon was well received by critics and audiences alike, and is truly family friendly, but to win the box office your fourth week out is rather rare. Dreamworks has got to be thrilled.

Kick-Ass got some pretty solid critic reviews (78% on Rotten Tomatoes as of Sunday evening), but it seems like audiences just didn’t connect with the movie, and much as it pains me to say so, it appears movie and comic nerds are not a strong enough force to prop a movie up.

Last week, Fox’s Glee returned with a bang picking up a series high of 13.7 Million viewers, which was 44% more than those who watched the pilot last year. Fox boasts that this is the highest viewership of a freshman series, so why wouldn’t they continue the trend with a huge episode this week in “The Power of Madonna”?From Fox:

Mr. Schuester is concerned that the girls in the glee club are being disrespected and bullied by the guys. Looking to Madonna and her musical message of equality as inspiration, he challenges the entire team to choose Madonna songs as their next assignment in the hopes that the girls embrace her strength, independence and confidence and that the guys will see the error of their misogynistic ways.

The glee club takes the assignment to heart as they perform some of Madonna’s greatest hits, including “Express Yourself” and “Like A Prayer.” Meanwhile, Kurt and Mercedes give Sue a vote of confidence with a makeover that is definitely in “Vogue.”

Marvel continues end credit Easter Eggs in Iron Man 2

In keeping with tradition of recent Marvel flicks this Summer’s Iron Man 2 will allegedly have extra footage post-credits.  While it’s hard to confirm just what exactly will be included this time around, speculation surrounds possible appearances by Thor and/or Captain America.  This of course leads into those two films hitting screens next Summer.  So, make sure to hang around after the film.

Michael Bay set to destroy your TV

I suppose it was only  a matter of time before Michael Bay decided to get into the television production game.  While the reality TV project probably won’t have as many explosions as the Transformers films, it definitely sounds like a premise only Bay could conceive:

“For my first television project I wanted to do something that had never been done before, and I believe that ‘One Way Out’ accomplishes that,” Bay said. “Combining unique twists, death-defying challenges, and stunning visuals, we are reinventing the genre, showing just how far people will go when they are stripped of their bare necessities and forced to do whatever it takes to survive.”

That description sounds vaguely familiar.  Maybe this series is just re-edited behind-the-scenes material from his movie shoots.  If that’s the case, I’m totally on board with this show, too bad no network has picked up the project yet.  Come on guys, this is Michael Bay, master of explosions, what could possibly go wrong.  Boom!
