Not a lot of people are holding out hope for Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet. There seems to be a general consensus from both the studio and the critic community that the film looks pretty awful, to the point where Sony has already attempted to save the film by converting it to 3D and pushing back the release date to a less active weekend.

It just seems that the film is destined for Jonah Hex-style obscurity. With that said, you should know exactly what to expect when going into the film. You could end up having the time of your life if you have little-to-no expectations, and the film could end up surprising you entirely.

The newest trailer lends to that theory. Written by Rogen and Evan Golberg, the same team who did Superbad, the film is a comedic send up to the classic pulp hero. Inglorious Basterds’ star Christoph Waltz even steps in as the film’s baddie, which should raise the film’s geek cred.

Want to be in an episode of the critically acclaimed AMC series Mad Men? Well, thanks to the cool idea men at JibJab, you can now fulfill that dream and star in your very own episode — sort of.

JibJab is a cool internet experience that is best known for creating custom videos of your face over the bodies of either animated or live action videos. The company has been using their services for company parties, e-cards, and more for a few years now, and has been growing in popularity exponentially. Their annual “Year in Review” videos even made it onto Leno’s Tonight Show a few times.

Now their expanding even more by allowing you to star in some awesome popular properties like Star Wars, Soul Train, and now Mad Men. You can star as or alongside Don Draper in a fun little video. Also, if you’ve got some friends or family you’d like to send back into the 1960′s, there are plenty of other roles for them to fill.

Hard to believe but next year will be the 30th anniversary of Sam Raimi’s original cult horror film Evil Dead. The tiny film that he and a few friends shot in the woods would later become the springboard for he, partner Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell to join the world of multi-million dollar production budgets and billion dollar film franchises.

Now, that tiny film can be immortalized into the modern era of HD with two separate conversions to the Blu-ray format. The film is getting two brand new 1080p anamorphic transfers that will flash forward the cult classic into today’s world of 60 inch plasma TV’s.

The film is said to also have some great new features, including an all-new audio commentary from Raimi, Tapert, and Bruce Campbell. The Blu-ray is set for release on August 31st, and will run for roughly $30.

It’s not all movies and TV here at The Flickcast. We also love to play video games. Some of us have also, at one time or another, been musicians or played an instrument or two. So, we’re obviously big fans of games that let us do both.

Case in point Guitar Hero and Band Hero, both of which allow you to feed your inner rockstar and jam to your favorite hot tunes. Now, that selection of tunes just got a bit hotter with the announcement from Activision that you will be able to get a whole slew of additions for both games this Summer.

Some of the new tracks and content for the games comes from bands like Queen, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Shinedown and more. All in it looks to be a great Summer of rock and roll gaming.

Let’s be honest, there weren’t very many decent sci-fi TV shows made in the 1980s. Sure, there were some laughable shows that we look back on with nostalgia, such as Greatest American Hero and Galactica 1980, but none that really held up through the years. Luckily, Max Headroom is one of those shows.

Based around the concept of the futuristic “cyberpunk”, a concept that was blowing up in the late 80′s, Headroom follows the life of journalist Edison Carter (Matt Frewer) who has to solve crime in the ultra high-tech future where crimes are fought with computers, rather than on the streets.

The show only lasted 14 episodes, over the span of two seasons, and then faded away into obscurity, until now. Shout Factory has just announced that the complete series will be released on DVD on August 10th, and it will be more than enough for the average Max Headroom fan to squeal over.

I just saw Knight and Day and in a summer notably lacking in quality, this one stands out as being the worst film in terms of the script and editing. The 2 and a half minute trailer was better than the entire film. In the film a rogue FBI agent, Roy Millerand the FBi, steals a never-ending battery that looks like the generic D Energizer kind. June, a hapless bystander, gets caught up in the action. Together they must keep the battery safe while on the run from arms dealers and the FBI.

In editing class you’re taught that if a movie is well edited then you won’t question the loopholes until hours later when you’re at home, hence the term refrigerator moment. Quite apropos when you consider Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. In Knight and Day, however, I started questioning the flick while it was still playing.

For starters, whenever characters would mention anything of importance, it was never once brought up again or answered in any kind of way. None of the characters had any semblance of a back story. There was no time limit set for the mission, no sense of urgency, and no one saved anything, much less the world. In essence the film lacked discernible goals. This film brings new meaning to the term, “We’ll fix it in post”.

What follows is a list of questions. I would say there are spoilers, but since there are absolutely zero twists, turns, or creativity in the script, there are no spoilers. Anyone who can answer these questions solely based on the film will receive a highly valued, Flickcast Certified No. Prize. Go ahead smarty pants, make my day.

We like to find things from around the Internets and bring them to you here at The Flickcast. Sure, we tend to cover larger events, movies, TV, Comics, games and all that, but we also want to make sure to let you know when we find cool stuff that doesn’t get much, or any, coverage.

Like last week’s trailer for Space Battleship Yamato, this new trailer is also from our friends in Japan. This time around, however, the fight isn’t in space, it’s on earth and it features a band of Ninjas pitted against a seemingly unstoppable alien bent on their destruction. Obviously, when we find a video that not only has Ninjas but Aliens and features some pretty decent martial arts action, we need to bring it to you.

With Inception hitting theaters next Friday, and expected to be one of the biggest films of the summer, you can believe that Warner Bros. won’t be pulling any punches when it comes to promotion. We’ve already seen some pretty intense trailers, which have made the epic tuba noise a ringtone for thousands of fans. Now, the film is taking to building-sized posters to bend our minds.

Only two new advertisements have been spotted so far. Both in New York City, and both pretty cool. The first shows a flood of water shooting out each of the windows. The second, and arguable the cooler advertisement, shows the side of a building being peeled back to reveal the offices inside.

The film, directed by Dark Knight’s Christopher Nolan, is about the world of dreams, and how fragile each of us can be inside of them. Check out the two full building advertisements after the jump, and be sure to catch Inception in theaters on July 16th.

In news that will most likely be met with meh by the major cable outlets, production company Relativity Media announced that it will make a deal with movie rental giant Netflix to stream its content via the service. While that may not sound impressive, the other part of this deal will see Relativity bypassing traditional home video routs and cable stations like HBO or Showtime and going directly to Neflix’s streaming movie service.

With the backing of backing larger companies like Lions Gate Entertainment, Sony Pictures, and Universal Studios, Relativity will grant Netflix first rights to stream popular movies that are typically sent to premium cable channels like Starz, HBO, and Showtime following the movie’s DVD release. This arrangement is seen as a major development because it’s the first time a major movie producer has turned to online distribution for its movies and not gone the traditional route.

Could this be the start of a trend? We’ll see. It would probably seem like more of a big deal (at least to me) if the movies were a bit more impressive and if HBO and Showtime didn’t seem more concerned with creating original programming than showing movies. Still, it is an interesting development to be sure. Time will tell if it has an impact on other companies and if they join in.

The deal is set to launch with movies Skyline and The Fighter, featuring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, with more titles to follow soon.

With the 4th of July now behind us what better way to celebrate getting back to business than with some new comics? Fortunately, Marvel has you covered this week and is releasing a a whole bunch of new titles for your reading pleasure.

During The Flickcast’s set visit to USA Network’s new series Covert Affairs we spoke with Exec. Producer Doug Liman about the origins of the show.  Following that we had the opportunity to speak with three of the show’s regulars, Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty, Harper’s Island), Anne Dudek (House, Mad Men) and Piper Perabo (The Prestige, Coyote Ugly).  All the interviews took place on the Covert Affairs sets in Toronto, Canada.

Christopher Gorham plays Auggie Anderson on Covert Affairs.  The resident technology expert, the role lends itself to being the bridge between the audience and how the tech on the show works.  Based on this, one would think Gorham was a natural geek, but according to him that’s not the case:

The Flickcast: Being surrounded by that, being that kind of character on the show, how well versed are you in technology?  Like, are you anywhere near what Auggie is, or are you-

Chris Gorham: Nowhere-first of all, nowhere near.

TF: No?

CG: Second of all, nowhere near what I wish I knew.  Thirdly, nowhere near where I need to be, because my kids are getting older quick.

One would think getting your head around hi-tech gadgets would be a challenge but that pales in comparison to one important element of Gorham’s character-the fact that he’s blind.  In preparation for the role Gorham worked extensively with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB):

“I was working on a film in Michigan right before the pilot, and literally came straight here from there. So I hadn’t had any time at home to really do the research that I would normally do. So I called ahead and found the – well, I found the CNIB on the Internet, and called ahead to the production office and asked them if they could hook me up with somebody over there.

And they did – a lovely woman named Leslie McDonald who came out. And we had two sessions during the pilot, where the first one she came out and just went over things like sighted lead, and working with the cane, and a lot of just behavioural things about how to get around.”

Having seen a number of actors take on roles in which they portray blind characters I can tell you Gorham is exceptional.  Be that as it may, Gorham is quick to emphasise that while Auggie is blind that does not diminish him in contrast to other characters:
