I’m always happy to see what the office is going to look like each Halloween: Dwight’s going to be something topical (The Scranton Strangler—check); Angela’s going to be some kind of animal (a penguin—check); Michael’s going to be something hopelessly unfunny (MacGruber—well, you get the idea); and Jim’s going to be apathetic.

The costumes are always fun because they’re great reflections of the characters themselves—Kevin always tries desperately to be cool but never quite succeeds (this year he’s Michael Moore); Creed’s always a step behind the times (Dracula, the Mummy); Pam’s a dork (Olive Oyl—and is it a meta-joke that Jenna Fischer is waaaay too busty to pull off the outfit?), but this year’s standout is the weasely Gabe, who comes dressed, to many a cringe, as Lady Gaga.

On one level I can see him going for the popular choice (never mind the gender differences, or should they matter?) because of his fleeting hope to fit in, but on another, more plausible level, I said it’s because there’s a much darker side to Mr. Lewis.

I haven’t gotten much enjoyment from the season so far, but it was a nice touch to joke around with the characters’ personalities—that’s the kind of humor that made The Office a great show, and it’s either been missing or fallen flat for much of season 7.

But as for the actual episode, the bulk is dedicated to a rising tension between Michael and Darryl, who took an idea to have the warehouse workers/drivers suggest other products when making their deliveries straight to Gabe, bypassing his obligatory running it by Michael first. Michael had previously rejected the idea, and when he finds out that Darryl “Took him from behind” (“Went behind his back”), Michael throws a tantrum and pretty soon has ditched his MacGruber costume to dress up as Darry and ruin the Halloween party by openly mocking him.

What would a week be without yet another “confirmation” of the iPhone’s long rumored appearance on Verizon? A boring week we say! So, to make sure we get one in for this week, here’s the latest from the folks at Fortune Magazine.

In a profile on Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, the magazine has to, of course, talk about the iPhone. Noting Seidenberg’s success in making Verizon the number one wireless carrier in the U.S, Fortune notes that “every tech company” — including Apple — “must find a way to partner with it [Verizon].”

However, that’s not the really juicy part. Nor is it the part that will cause even more speculation and machinations among Apple loving and AT&T hating fans. This is the part: “Fortune has confirmed that a Verizon iPhone will be released in early 2011.”

With all the other evidence mounting that we will actually see a Verizon iPhone combined with this new evidence, it must be a forgone conclusion, right? Sadly, with a company like Apple, you can’t really count on anything except absolute secrecy until they are ready to make the announcement. They love to control the message.

Of course, there’s always the possibility some hapless employee will leave one in a bar somewhere. Hey, it could happen.

Imagine the raunchiness of Animal House mashed with the camaraderie of college football. That’s exactly what you’ve been missing out on if you haven’t caught Blue Mountain State on Spike.

Now entering their second season, the show promises to push the envelope even more this year, with some big names, crazier scenes, and more fun you can shake a stick at.

We recently got to sit down with one of the stars of the show, Darin Brooks, who plays Alex Moran, about some of the awesomeness we can expect to see this year, as Blue Mountain State tops off it’s full 13-episode season run. Check it out!

Darin Brooks: Oh, some awesome stuff. Things just get crazy. I know we have Denise Richards coming in for a cameo, and things get pretty steamy. Also, we have Frankie Shaw joining in as Sammy’s sister who has a bit of an obsession with Alex, so you can imagine how awkward things are going to get.

We’ve seen a slew of movies about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the fictionalized ones simply haven’t connected with the public.  Even last year’s Oscar winning The Hurt Locker couldn’t manage to pull in large numbers at the box office.

What’s unique about The Tillman Story is that it puts a face on the war, and consequently humanizes it.  You can’t casually dismiss the story of Pat Tillman and his amazing family.  This is not a fiction movie, this is as real as it gets. And it is ugly.

Pat Tillman was charismatic student-athlete who attended Arizona State University on a football scholarship, and later played in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals.  He gave up that career when he, along with his younger brother Kevin, enlisted in the Army shortly after 9/11.

The two eventually became Army Rangers, and Pat did a tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was during his second tour, in Afghanistan,  that Tillman’s life was cut short.

Initially Tillman was painted as a  hero who died valiantly trying to save his fellow soldiers during a Taliban ambush.  Tillman was praised and awarded the Silver Star posthumously. However, things did not add up to Tillman’s family. They realized that there was much more to the story.

It’s very rare that one can have Back to the Future and almost naked models on the same page. Thanks to Playboy.com (Just like Playboy magazine but with less page turning), you can finally merge those two things in your brain.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the first Back to the Future film, the online adult entertainment stop put together a themed photo shoot about all things BTTF. This includes a half naked She-Marty on a hoverboard, half naked Doc She-Brown hanging from the clocktower, and a whole bunch of half naked women hanging off of a DeLorean.

We can’t decide if this is a brilliant idea, or just bastardizing a timeless franchise. In a world where sexy costumes rule, and even the Raphael of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles isn’t safe, why can’t there be sexy scenes from Back To the Future?

Sadly, they missed a perfect opportunity to capitalize on the awkward relationship between Marty and Doc Brown around the campfire in BTTF 3. Maybe next time, Playboy.

Ah the Halloween special, long-honored tradition among sitcoms, when everyone—writers, directors, actors—can go hog wild and abandon the show’s official canon, tossing them into movie parody, having the cast pursue some horrific monster, or even killing them altogether.

Roseanne comes to mind as having some of the best Halloween Specials (one favorite had Roseanne and Dan competing at the annual Lanford costume party and introduced with the great line, “Well, it wouldn’t be Halloween unless the Conners overdid it”); The Simpsons Halloween specials are pretty much the only episodes I watch anymore (I suspect I’m not the only one); and who doesn’t look forward to seeing what everyone will wear on The Office? (Incidentally, this week’s episode takes the cake with Angela’s Sexy Nurse outfit—yikes!)

And now we have Sunny’s inaugural Halloween episode, “Who Got Dee Pregnant?” And it’s no schumlp. In fact, it even adds a new twist with theRashomon-esque story.

But I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. The episode opens with Frank, Mac, Charlie, and Dennis discussing their plans to spend the night in an eerie mansion/warehouse/swamp/insert any Scooby-Doo-inspired location here before taking a quick break to mock Sweet Dee’s recent sandwich binge only to find that she is, in fact, pregnant, and…you ready for this? One of them is the father (OoooOoo!). Even before it’s out of the gate, Sunny gets points for hinting that it’s going down the usual cheesy fantasy route most sitcoms use for their Halloween Specials before taking an abrupt turn to something truly horrific: unwanted pregnancy.

This Sunday may be a big day for most who love to dress up and eat candy, but for others it’s a huge day for zombie fans everywhere, as the very first episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead airs across the country.

While not much is known about what’s changing from the comic series by Robert Kirkman, there is plenty known about the production itself. We know that Frank Darabont is directing the first episode (of 6), who the main cast is, and any of the scenes we’ve gotten from the trailers and photos. Outside of that, we’re pretty much blind. Until now, that is.

We got our hands on a very rare clip from this Sunday’s episode, entitled “Days Gone By”. In it, we get a bit of the epic hospital scene that was so memorable from the comic.

During the month of October, there are a smorgasbord of horror movies to watch on cable and network television.  One of the best parts about this is that we get to revisit perennial favorites, including horror anthologies, which have dwindled in the last decade.

Now comes word that the horror anthology might be making a comeback.  Arrow in the Head is reporting that a powerful slate of international horror directors might participate in a new anthology based in Paris.  The film is tentatively titled Paris, I’ll Kill You.

Joe Dante, Paco Plaza, Vincenzo Natali, Xaviern Gens, Christopher Smith, Ryuhel Kitamara, Julien Maury, Alexandre  Bustillo, and Joern Heitmann will all be contributing stories for the film.  That is exciting news indeed, as these are the talented  men that brought us Gremlins, Rec, Splice, Frontiers, Midnight Meat Train, and more.

It is possible that this film could be the first in a franchise, each movie honing in on a certain “horror city.”  This could certainly be an exciting way to infuse the horror world with fresh blood, so to speak.

Outside of the Three Extremes franchise, we can’t recall many anthologies as of late.

Remember when we brought you video of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly in the never before seen footage from his short lived stint in Back to the Future? Well. we’ve got more interesting tidbits from that film to share with you now.

This time it’s not Marty McFly, but rather  his father George, we’re concerned with. In the film George is played by the talented Crispin Glover and seeing the movie once it was released and subsiquently, there seems no other actor better suited for the part.

Of course, that wasn’t always the case and, like many other actors, Glover had to audition for the role and screen test to prove he could handle the complex nature of George McFly both young and old. In these two videos, we can see Glover working on his characterization of George McFly along with co-stars Lea Thompson and Thomas F. Wilson and an unknown actor playing Marty.

The footage is not of the best quality but it does give us a peek into how actors do what they do and also demonstrates that Glover is an extremely talented guy who should get more work.

It’s a glorious day Apple fans as Verizon is now selling your favorite touch computing device the iPad. It can now be purchased online or in stores so if you’re getting ready for the full transition away from AT&T, this is a great place to start.

You may notice the pricing of the device is the same for both Verizon Wireless and AT&T (16GB: $629, 32GB: $729, 64GB: $829) despite the fact that AT&T sells the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G and Verizon Wireless is only selling the iPad with Wi-Fi. How can this be?

Well, it’s because Verizon is bundling a MiFi 2200 with each iPad. However, in a bid to stay competitive with AT&T, Verizon will not require a contract. Instead, the carrier is offering month-to-month data packages of 1GB for $20, 3GB for $35 or 5GB for $50. AT&T’s data packages for the iPad remain unchanged at $15 for 250MB/Month, $25 for 2GB/Month, or $30 for unlimited if you were one of the lucky ones to have had the deal prior to the change.

As someone who already has an iPad, this won’t really have much effect on me. However, it does bode very well for the future as Apple and Verizon solidify their relationship in time for the company to begin selling the iPhone next year.

With not even one season under its belt, SyFy has decided not to renew the struggling Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica for a second season. Not only that, they will stop airing episodes immediately and the remaining five for this season will air sometime in 2011 and, you would imagine, be included on any eventual DVD release.

“We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series,” said Mark Stern, Syfy’s EVP of original programming. “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”

Never a ratings hit, the show debuted with relatively low ratings at the beginning of the year and once it returned for the second half of the season, the ratings were even lower. In fact, the show had only 889,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating with adults 18-49 so speculation about cancellation began almost immediately. Now, that speculation is proven correct.

Even with the show’s cancellation, there’s still one bright spot for fans of the BSG Universe. As we mentioned previously, SyFy still has plans to go forward with at least a pilot for another BSG prequel called Blood and Chrome. This show, which will deal with a young Willliam Adama during the first Cylon war, will hopefully fare better than Caprica.

So long Caprica, we hardly knew you.
