Often during the crush of events like San Diego Cmic-Con, the panel or screening you want desperately to see has a line that would test the patients of Job or you just can’t get in at all. Fortunately, if you’re clamoring to see panels and get more info on new Fall TV programs The Event or The Cape (featuring the beautiful and talented Summer Glau), our pals at NBC have got you covered. How? Well, read on.
This week, if you’re looking forward to these shows and are going to the Con, you’ll have a chance to win VIP passes to The Event panel and/or The Chase panel at this year’s Con. The winners get get VIP seating for the panel, get to view the pilot and the cast and crew interviews and experience the panel in style. Sadly, even with all this great treatment (and make no mistake you will get great treatment) there won’t be a cocktail waitress coming by asking if you want drinks. You can’t have everything.
The contest for The Event and The Cape is currently running NBC’s Fan.It site so anyone can enter. Be sure to enter early and often because the more points you have, the more you can “cash in” for chances to win. The contest ends Monday so what are you waiting for?

Sure, it’s great fun to watch your favorite shows on TV and experience them as a viewer. But what if you could actually participate in one of these shows instead of just watch?
Well, that’s possible now, especially if one of your favorite shows happens to be HBO’s True Blood. What am I talking about? The good folks at Charitybuzz, in conjunction with the show, are auctioning off a featured walk-on role in the series to the highest bidder.
As if that wasn’t enough already, proceeds from the auction will benefit GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Bidding is open through June 2 at Charitybuzz, which is one of the leading destinations for online charity auctions.
To get in on the action, head on over to the website for the auction and start bidding. True Blood Season 3 starts June 13th on HBO, so you better hurry.
For more on Charitybuzz and their other great auctions, which include meeting the cast of Entourage, hanging out with Chevy Chase on the set of Community and lunch with the cast of Mad Men, check out their site.

With all the movies coming out these days its easy to get lost in all the promotions by the studios. In an effort to get audiences interested in their particular film, they often deluge potential movie goers with a whole bunch of promotional stuff that due to the sheer amount, is often overlooked or just plain ignored. Sometimes, however, something comes along that’s kinda fun and deserves a bit of attention.
One such promotional tie-in is Universal’s current Get Him to the Greek song contest. To enter is simple, especially for all you budding rockstars out there.
Just record your cover version of Infant Sorrow’s (Russel Brand’s fictional band in the film) hit song “Bangers, Beans & Mash” and enter for a chance to win a trip to the world premiere of Get Him to the Greek at L.A.’s famous Greek Theatre. 20 runners-up will win limited edition Infant Sorrow merchandise, so don’t feel bad.
Get Him to the Greek features Jonah Hill and Russell Brand and is directed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘s Nicholas Stoller. It tells the story of a record company executive (Hill) with three days to drag an uncooperative rock legend (Brand) to Hollywood for a comeback concert. It also stars Sean Combs, Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne and Colm Meaney. It hits theaters June 4.

While you’re already getting your big Academy Awards party ready in time for the telecast on March 7th, we’ve got something for even bigger movie fans to enjoy. Of course, we’re talking about a movie marathon!
All month long, Turner Classic Movies will be running over 360 Academy Award nominated and winning films, back to back, with an interesting twist. In the vain of the game “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” each film will have a common actor or actress from the previous film.
For example, tomorrow night’s schedule consists of The Graduate with Anne Bancroft and William Daniels, which goes into Reds which stars Daniels and Jack Nicholson, into Chinatown with Nicholson and John Huston. Though we’re already about two weeks into the marathon, there are still plenty of great films to look forward to, including some TCM firsts like Gladiator, Titanic, Alien, and Trading Places.
We’re also going to be helping you celebrate the upcoming 82nd Annual Academy Awards on March 7th with a great prize pack, so be sure to keep an eye on our Twitter for details on how to win.
In the meantime, check out the schedule for this weekend’s films on TCM, and be sure to download the full schedule in PDF format. If not, you could always watch them blind and try to figure out the common actor/actress. Have fun!
