It may be about a month over, but that hasn’t stopped the marketing machine for James Gunn’s Super from bringing us some great internet material to enjoy while still pimping out the film.
In this case, said marketing is in the form of both Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page (the film’s heroes) fighting crime in Austin, TX for this year’s South by Southwest film festival.
The film stars Wilson, Page, Kevin Bacon, Michael Rooker, Liv Tyler, and Nathan Fillion in a very dark, very hilarious look at a regular nobody who decides to take justice into his own clenched fist.
Take a look at the clip of Wilson taking to the streets of Austin after the jump, and catch Super in theaters everywhere and on demand via Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner, and Bright House.

We’ve been waiting months and aside from an occasional clip here or there, we’re finally getting the first official look at James Gunn’s upcoming raunchy, real-life superhero comedy Super, which features a huge (and very eclectic) cast. Now that we’re getting an idea of how the film is going to play out, we can see that tonally, it’s going to be quite different than Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, which seems like a parallel story on paper.
Not only that, the cast alone, which includes Rainn Wilson, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Ellen Page, Michael Rooker and Nathan Fillion, should be enough to sell this film to fans everywhere. Here’s the official synopsis:
Rainn Wilson stars as a normal guy named Frank who decides to become a crime fighter when his wife (Liv Tyler) leaves him for a drug-dealer (Kevin Bacon), taking on the identity of the Crimson Bolt and agreeing to let a young overzealous comic shop employee (Ellen Page) to be his sidekick Boltie.
Together, they fight crime in the most violent manner imaginable.
There was a worry for a while whether we’d ever get to see this film or not, as things were quiet on finding a distributor. Luckily, IFC Midnight was able to pick up the slack and they’re bringing the film to theaters on April 1st.
Check out the trailer after the jump and join Rainn Wilson as he exclaims, “Shut Up, Crime!”

If you’re like the rest of the nerds around The Flickcast office, then you took your 30 minute lunchbreak on Tuesday to run out and grab Inception on Blu-Ray so you can relive all of Chris Nolan’s dreamworld madness. Of course, with the instant (and legal) accessibility of the film, come the bad ass fan edits.
We haven’t seen any cool Inception lightsaber fan edits like we have for Princess Bride, but there is one video that’s been floating around the Internets that needs to be shared as much as possible. Youtube user Weikang had the great idea (and was the first) to edit all of the dream worlds side by side at once, showing how they all played together.
Mind you, some worlds run faster than others because they are dreams inside of dreams (doesn’t sound as cool when you explain it, sorry Nolan). Check out the cool fan video after the jump.
Expect to see plenty more Inception fan films hit the web as more and more folks re-watch the psychological action flick over and over again. At least we hope so.

Ever since the first footage of the film crept it’s way through the tubes of the internets, fanboys everywhere have been clammoring for more of James Gunn’s upcoming super hero comedy Super, and it looks like we’re finally going to have a date to drool over.
In keeping with his constant fan service, Gunn gave us the scoop on his official blog, as well as reaching out for people to request the film in their towns.
It’s true: SUPER will be opening on April 1st, 2011. That first week we will be in only Los Angeles and New York. However, on the following week, April 8, 2011, we will be in fifteen to twenty of the twenty-five biggest markets in the United States. Around that same time, we will also be available on VOD. And, after that, only God knows – perhaps more cities, perhaps not. It depends a lot on what you guys demand and want.
There you have it. And yes, if you live in a small town and want to see Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Nathan Fillion, and Michael Rooker in this hilariously violent super hero comedy, be sure to keep an eye out and demand that it comes to you as soon as you can.

Mum has been the word as to the look of James Gunn’s upcoming superhero comedy Super starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page. We know what a few of the costumes look like, and we know who is in the flick. But as to the tone and visual style, we haven’t gotten many clues. Until Now.
Just about one week after the deal was struck for IFC Films to purchase distribution rights for the film, the very first clip has surfaced showing off both Wilson and Page in their full superhero garb, and it looks pretty cool.
The clip may not be 100% SFW due to language, but it’s surely 100% hilarious. The premise is a bit simple. After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills. Include a psychotic sidekick (Ellen Page) and you’ve got the full scope.
Check out the first clip from the film after the jump, and be sure to keep your eyes open as we see more from the film and even get a release date from IFC Film’s Midnight banner head.

In what Deadline is describing as a “major deal’ IFC Films has picked up the rights to James Gunn’s latest film Super. The deal happened late last night during the currently running Toronto Film Festival and is reportedly of the seven figure variety.
In the film, Rainn Wilson plays Frank, a man who’s wife (Liv Tyler) leaves him for a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon). Because of this, Frank decides to don the guise of a superhero called Crimson Bolt to wreak havoc on villains everywhere.
With his trusty sidekick Boltie (Ellen Page) Frank takes to the streets to stop evil doers and in the process tries to regain his self-respect and the affections of his wife. Plus, he uses his plumber’s wrench to good effect and crushes a few bad guys skulls in the process.
No word yet on IFC’s release plans for the film but we’ll bring it to you when we know. In the meantime, for more info on this deal check out the full press release from IFC after the jump.

I guess statistically speaking, it was bound to happen. If you see enough movies, eventually you are going to witness a great movie that just doesn’t do it for you. Such was the case with Inception. I was poised to love the movie and declare it a cinematic masterpiece, if not one of my favorite films of the year.
I walked out seeing people high five each other and hug each other in a joyful embrace, no doubt exalted by the awesomeness of the film that they had just witnessed. How I envied them.
I left frustrated, angry and annoyed. I desperately wanted to belong to that group of blissfully happy movie-goers, but I couldn’t fake it. I just didn’t enjoy the movie.
Is that to say that it was not an excellent film? Of course not. On a purely technical basis, the film is amazing. It is also wildly imaginative, smart and original, all the things I clamor for during the summer film schedule. Try as I might, though, I couldn’t get engaged in the story. I never connected with any of the characters, and as a consequence, I never felt any urgency or peril regarding their situations.

It looks like we can add Oscar winner Diane Keaton to the list of actors making the transition from big to small screen. According to EW, she will be teaming up with Ellen Page for a new HBO half-hour comedy called Tilda.
The show, which in produced by Bill Condon, centers on a powerful and much-feared Hollywood blogger who may or may not be based on Deadline’s Nikki Finke. It will also feature Page as Carolyn, Tilda’s “morally conflicted” assistant.
The case reportedly came together after months of negotiations. What finally sealed the deal may never be publically known but whatever it was, HBO must have offered quite a lot to secure Keaton’s participation. Not to take anything away from Page but as stars go, Keaton is on another level entirely.
Tilda will start shooting next month in Los Angeles with a planned launch on HBO sometime early next year.

Inception, acclaimed director Christopher Nolan’s next project since the box office smash The Dark Knight, has had buzz surrounding it since it was greenlit at Warners. And while numerous trailers and a poster have been revealed, the details are still vague about this upcoming psychological thriller…until now.
The first full trailer has just hit the web, which finally gives us some more insight on Dicaprio and Ellen Page’s characters. We now know that the story surrounds the world of corporate espionage, with a sci-fi twist. Also revealed online was a brand new poster for the film, giving us a deeper look into the dark and twisted tone of Nolan’s world.
While the first poster just featured Leonardo Dicaprio, alone surrounded by a sea of water and buildings and vaguely reminding us of the The Dark Knight posters, this new IMAX poster features more of the cast. While Leo’s still at his prominent point front and center, other characters walk along the walls and upside down. This film has a really strong ensemble cast so it’s great to see the other actors and actresses of this film on this poster, like Cillian Murphy and Marion Cotillard, as the trailers have all featured Leonardo Dicaprio and Ellen Page.
Written and directed by Christopher Nolan and starring the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Berenger. Check out the new poster and trailer (courtesy of TrailerAddict) after the jump and catch Inception in theaters and IMAX on July 16th.
