Get a Sneak Peek At Syfy’s ‘Urban Legends’ Season 3 Premiere

by Joe Gillis, Apr 14 2011 // 10:00 AM

Syfy has already hit it out of the park with reality shows like Destination Truth and Face Off, but there is one show that we can’t wait for, which returns next week. That show is, of course, Urban Legends.

We’ve got a sneak peek at the upcoming season 3 premiere, titled “Best Laid Plans”, but before we get to that, here’s a breakdown of what you can expect to see.

In the Syfy series, underscoring the art of storytelling, Urban Legends asks its viewers to decipher fact from fiction.  Three tall tales are dramatically recreated and the audience must decide which is real from these stories of astronomical proportion. In the sneak peek clip of the Season Premiere of Urban Legends, a man is held at gunpoint on his own living room floor by men that look to be on the SWAT team based on their gear and clothes.

The man being held against his will can’t figure out the reasoning for the invasion in his own home, and soon realizes his two dogs have been killed and his mother-in-law has been thrown to the ground.  He sees police standing outside of his house and realizes this is no ordinary invasion while trying to reason with the masked men in telling them he hasn’t done anything wrong and that he’s the mayor.  The masked men think he must be crazy for claiming such a thing, and it all leads to an unmarked box.

Enticed? Take a look at the preview after the jump and catch the upcoming premiere on Monday at 10/9C on Syfy.

Syfy Holding Open Casting Call for ‘Face Off’ Season 2

by Heather Toshiko, Apr 6 2011 // 10:00 AM

Ever dreamed about being a big time Hollywood special effects make-up artist? If so, you’re probably aware of Syfy’s recent show Face Off, which highlighted a contest between several make-up people with the winner getting $100 K and a potential career in Hollywood.

What you might not be aware of is that the show was a hit for Syfy and will be getting a second season. But wait, there’s more. The network will be holding an open casting call looking for a new crop of contestants for season two and that is all happening this weekend in Los Angeles and New York.

Who knows, it could be your big break. If you have any desire at all, it could be worth it. Besides, what have you got to lose?

Get a Sneak Peek At This Week’s Season Finale of ‘Face Off’

by Matt Raub, Mar 14 2011 // 2:30 PM

Hard to believe it, but Syfy’s newest venture into reality TV, Face Off, is finally coming to an end. We’ve seen some drama, some annoying characters come and go, and some awesome makeup challenges, but this week it all comes down to one last competition, and one final winner.

In this last competition, the final three contestants are taking it back to fairy tales as they reimagine some classic stories. From Syfy:

In this second sneak peek clip of the Season Finale of Face Off, the final four contestants recreate their favorite fairy tales in their last attempt to prove their talent.  A werewolf, witch, and other creatures are being finalized.  There seems to be a positive overall tone among the contestants as they head down the final stretch, but it wouldn’t be the finals without something going awry.  Conor’s final creation appears to have a malfunction and his opportunity at being crowned the winner of Face Off may be over.

Check out the clip after the jump, and enjoy the Face Off season finale on Wednesday at 10pm, 9pm Central.

Breasts Get Handled In A New ‘Face Off’ Sneak Peek

by Matt Raub, Feb 21 2011 // 11:30 AM

Say what you will about reality TV, but SyFy has managed to find the happy medium between the world of trashy television and the geek culture with their newest competition show, Face Off.

The show takes a group of up and coming effects makeup artists trying to make it in the business and pits them against one another in difficult, and ultimately cool-looking makeup tasks. Here’s the rundown for this week’s show.

In the next all-new episode of Face Off, Gage and Sam decide to take a major risk with the task of creating old-age makeup pieces.  They both re-assure each other that based on the last challenge, you can’t play it safe.  They’re both trying to come up with two full-face renderings in just two days which other contestants practically claim the feat as an impossibility.

We’ve got a brand new clip from this week’s show, in which the ancient art of “boob crafting” is practiced, and some of the contestants worry about going too far with their art. Check it out after the jump, and be sure to catch Face Off this Wednesday at 10/9pm Central on Syfy.

The Face Off Challenge, Catwoman, Pee Wee’s Return to TV and Retired Asian Super Heroes Are All ‘On The Radar’

by The Flickcast, Jan 21 2011 // 3:00 PM

Welcome to another edition of  On the Radar where we delve into all corners of the entertainment, tech and geek Internets for news, views and whatnot that may have escaped our regular coverage during the week. Let is know if we missed something interesting.

Let’s get started!

• Will Smith is currently working on a remake of Annie with his daughter Willow taking on the titular role and having Daddy Warbucks played by himself. Nepotism Shmepotism.

• Let’s face it, horror is IN! Even Syfy is getting behind their newest reality show Face Off with a killer swag contest.

• Take a look at one of the ads Fox rejected for the SuperBowl. The sad part is that it isn’t even very clever, or very good…it just has cheating.

• In case you missed it, Pee Wee made his triumphant return to TV last week, as a guest star during SNL’s Digital Short. To say the least, he’s definitely not the classic Pee Wee we grew up with.

• Gamers rejoice as the world of portable gaming and 3D finally align with the Nintendo 3Ds. The only question is…where do I put my Avatar tail?

• In case you have trouble seeing Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises. This may help you visualize it.

• Tarantino fan? Porn fan? Then this one is for you. The Reservoir Dogs porno.

• We love animated shorts, and this one, titled I’m a Monster is definitely one not to miss.

• There’s a brand new film out of China about a married couple who are also retired super heroes. The best part? Their names are Mr. and Mrs. Incredible. This…sounds…familiar…

The 100 Cheesiest Movie Quotes Of All Time

by Chris Ullrich, Jan 26 2010 // 2:00 PM

showdown_in_little_tokyo

Sometimes a video needs an explanation so you can better understand its significance or its substance. Other times, a video needs no introduction and can stand on its own. This video is one of those second ones. But I’m still gonna give it one anyway.

Containing what could arguably be called some of the cheesiest movie lines of all time, the video captures what’s best and worst about the movies we love and helps us remember, at least in some small way, why we love them.

Movies, like life, are often imperfect. But that doesn’t stop them from being a hell of a lot of fun most of the time.

Click through to enjoy this video from YouTube user hh edits, which was first featured at Pajiba. I know I did.
