It’s fun when we can laugh about a totally unreal scenario where a popular iPhone or Android video game gets adapted into a big budget film. Unfortunately, the window between us laughing at a satirical fan trailer and the film getting actually produced is quite small.
While we’ve got the time, we can still laugh at what the guys at Rooster Teeth (the folks who made Red Vs. Blue one of the most popular things amongst boys 18-35) put together in honor of the popular strategy game featuring birds and green pigs.
Some great cinematic spoofs in here as well, as Michael Bay and just about any disaster movie of the 90′s is a target in this short but sweet fan film.

Here at The Flickcast we get sent all kinds of videos made by fans. Many of them are, sad to say, not very inspired. Some, however, like the ones from Freddie Wong, are indeed awesome.
This most recent one has been around for a bit but we just got a chance to take a look. In it, creator msignore takes the familiar tale of 300 and moves it to the only other place we can see that story ever taking place: a bowling alley. Yes, you read that right, a bowling alley.
It’s a pretty interesting tale full of danger, suspense and, of course, shirtless bowling in slo-mo. We look forward to seeing what else this guy comes up with.
Previously, we told you about Freddie Wong and his gang of pals who make cool videos featuring great visual effects just because they can. On that occasion, the video in question featured one of our favorite actors: Spartacus himself Andy Whitfield.
The video was awesome but also a little sad because now Whitfield is ill and won’t be returning to Spartacus. But fear not, we’ve got a new video for you today that’s full of more amazing visual effects and even a little humor that will help make the sadness go away. This one, called Epic VFX, features just that — some epic visual effects made all the more epic by some funny commentary.

We show a lot of trailers here at The Flickcast. Most are for movies you will actually be able to go out and see once they hit theaters. Some, like the one we have today from YouTube user blankenheimrobert, are for movies you probably won’t ever see.
Still, that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth watching. In fact, this trailer for the imagined sequel to the classic sci-fi film E.T. is pretty impressive in that the filmmaker had to borrow from so many different movies and add CG touches of his own to make it work. Sure, the visual effects are not exactly perfect nor do all of the scenes exactly fit together without some looking a bit out of place, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t pretty fun to watch.
Plus, you really have to appreciate the shear amount of work that must have gone into making this. So, for that reason and because we love to encourage this kind of thing, check out the full trailer after the jump.
Many things can be argued about the past 10 years in popular culture, but hands down the most bad ass TV character in recent history has got to be 24‘s Jack Bauer. Maybe it’s how the character is written, maybe it’s just Kiefer Sutherland’s personality coming through the screen, but you wouldn’t want to come across Bauer in a dark alley on a bad day.
With that in mind, and the show being over, fans everywhere have had fantasy scripts and ideas of who Jack Bauer could interrogate and how amazing it would be. From Obama to Chunk from The Goonies, Bauer has been on a rampage of illegal questioning since his show went off the air.
Given the time of year, it only makes sense that Bauer would go after the Man of the Season himself, Santa Claus. How does he deliver gifts to good boys and girls all over the world in one night? How do his reindeer fly? Plutonium? Special Agent Bauer gets to the bottom of it all in a brand new fan film.

We all love fan edits. Some have been pretty awesome, which have inspired some pretty lame copycats. Thankfully, YouTube user GenRocks (real name Gen Ip) is not one of those lame copycats.
This clever editor has managed to not only compress some of the best scenes from out favorite films of the past year, but he’s/she’s managed to do so in a musical manor, making it almost seem like a catchy music video…with some of our favorite 2010 films.
He’s got a list of every film (a whopping 270 different ones!) used in the clip, which you can check out after the jump, but in the meantime, check out this guy/gal’s amazing video and relive some of your favorite cinematic moments of the past 11 and a half months.
Those who grew up, or even had a TV in the mid 90′s probably remember one of Nickelodeon’s most popular animated shows, Doug. The show was about a tween-aged boy who tries to make it through junior high school troubles of an evil bully, a weird older sister, and impressing the girl of his dreams. The show lasted 4 seasons until Disney bought the rights in 1996 and rebooted it. It was downhill from there.
Now, fans of the original Douglas Yancey Funnie and his gang of multicolored pals can now be seen in a new fan trailer from YouTube comedian DrCoolSex. Not only do we get the return of some nostalgic characters, but they’re even played by real folks! That’s right, a live action trailer.
Think of it like Doug meets Garden State as an older Doug returns home to reunite with his previous friends and family. Some great comedic moments in this one, so be sure to check it out after the jump.
It’s no secret that we’re all pretty big fans of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World around the Flickcast offices. We proved that with our review of the film, handful of clips we presented, and disappointment we showed in it’s performance at the box office. Now we’re taking solace in other fans like us taking to the internets with creativity and ingenuity.
The running theme with fan films as of late has been a so-called trailer “mash-up” where the audio from one trailer overlays the visuals from another, making it into a cool new concoction of geek and hilarity. This, of course, shouldn’t be confused with the brand of “trailer mash-ups” that swept the web a few years ago which brought us some gems like Scary Poppins or the immortal Shining trailer. These new mash-ups are a bit less imaginative, and slightly more lazy, until now.
Enter YouTube user AEmovieguy, who has taken that style of mash-up to a new level by matching up the visuals to the audio and getting the actors to actually look like they’re speaking the lines. It doesn’t sound as impressive as it looks, but we assure you, it’s pretty amazing.
Check out what he did with a few minutes of footage from all three Matrix films and the audio from the Scott Pilgrim trailer after the jump. You won’t be disappointed.
Video games will always be the a constant go-to when it comes to geeks. There are geeks that follow comics and movies, but almost all of them still consider classic video games as their source of geekdom. So when we get a fantastic fan film tribute to Time Crisis starring Spartacus: Blood & Sand’s Andy Whitfield, there’s plenty of reason to celebrate.
Now, Wong has teamed up with legendary TV action star Andy Whitfield to give us a great sendup to the classic arcade game Time Crisis. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to those who haven’t played the game, but for the rest, even the rapid-fire trigger technique towards the end brings back memories.

Often around the Internets you find many different kinds of videos. Some are produced by people who obviously have no business using a camera to do anything except filming their vacations.
Then, you find those rare gems produced by people who obviously have talent and know what to do with it. Often these filmmakers don’t have a lot of money but what they lack in funds they more than make up for in sheer creativity.
Case in point is the awesome new Batman fan film City of Scars. Produced by the team of Aaron and Sean Schoenke through their Bat in the Sun productions this film shows, once again, what talented people can do with a little money and a lot of imagination and creativity. It is well worth the time it will take you to watch it and the time it will take to sit through the commercial beforehand.

Sometimes when you’re looking around the far reaches of the Internets you find a lot of videos and whatnot that are, well, not really that interesting. For every Star Wars Kid there’s a USA Busty Adventure #3 that just doesn’t sit right. Fortunately, this time around we’ve found quite a treat for you.
Seeing as how we’re big fans of Sam Raimi’s work and loved the Evil Dead series of movies we’ve always wondered how they could possibly be improved upon. One thing we never thought of was to do Evil Dead in 60 seconds using clay. Fortunately, filmmaker Lee Hardcastle has done just that and shared his claymation creation over at Vimeo.
The video tells the entire Evil Dead story in a minute and allows you to experience the film in a new and funny way. Plus, claymation Bruce Campbell rocks.
We’ve been known to be kind of hard on James Cameron’s Avatar, given how much money and praise it’s gotten over the past two months. Given that, there are some die-hards still out there that believe that “Pandora” is the greatest place in existence, and wish it was real. Leave it to the internet to find a way to make that humorous.
