While the Pixar/Disney partnership has been one for the record books, one film that touches the hearts of anyone who has ever picked up a comic book is 2004′s The Incredibles. The film withstands it’s 7 years of release, and will now be getting a brand new breath of life as it makes it’s way to Blu-Ray this April.

The release is said to be a combo pack, which means you’ll not only get the Blu-Ray disc, but a standard definition disc as well as a digital download. The Blu-Ray disc will also be state-of-the art in high definition, bringing you 6x the resolution of a regular DVD.

In promoting this release, Pixar and Disney Home Video released a new trailer, featuring the voice of director Brad Bird reprising his role as the lovable fashionista Edna E. Mode. Check out the trailer after the jump, and get ready for the Blu-Ray combo release on April 11th.

Who doesn’t love toys? Whether they’re for kids or adults, most fans of film, TV, comics, or video games also become fans of toys. The cool part about being fans of film is that we have gotten some pretty cool toys inspired by films.

With this week’s major release of Toy Story 3 in both 3D, IMAX, and regular theaters, we felt it would be necessary to reminisce about some of our favorite toys from films, or even films inspired by toys.

Let’s be honest, we’ve played a lot of videogame adaptations of hit movie franchises here at The Flickcast, as we’re sure you have. And, let’s face it, they tend to not be of the highest quality. While I’ve played both games adapted from Toy Story and Toy Story 2, one on Genesis when I was seven and the other on PC when I was twelve, I was not excited for either of them as much as I’m excited for Avalanche Software’s Toy Story 3: The Videogame, especially after Kotaku posted the trailer up on their site earlier this week.

Along with some quality looking graphics and some fun gameplay featuring Woody, Buzz, and the gang, the trailer for Toy Story 3: The Videogame shows off the game’s innovative “Toy Box” mode, where you can create and customize your own levels and play through them with your favorite Toy Story characters. This feature looks incredibly in-depth, with the ability to place buildings, space aliens, or cowboys on racetracks, shooting ranges, or rainbow-colored paths in the jungle.

Toy Story 3 climbs out of the toy box and into theaters on June 18th, but you can pick up Toy Story 3: The Videogame on June 15th for Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, PSP, and Nintendo DS on June 15th. While you’re anxiously waiting like the small child you once were when the first Toy Story film was released, you can watch the trailer for the game after the jump.

Though Disney should consider their upcoming sequel to the smash hits Toy Story and Toy Story 2 an immediate success, it’s still nice to see that they aren’t pulling any stops with marketing. Even more surprising is that they’re actually going viral.

Nothing can really compare to some of the great viral marketing campaigns of past films like The Dark Knight, Cloverfield, or District 9, which all did pretty well in the box office. It seems that Disney is taking a different approach with two new trailers for the film.

In both trailers, you’re misdirected until the last 15 seconds of each promo into believing that you’re seeing a trailer for a new horror film or a commercial for some sleek new car. Ironically, you’re actually seeing two new trailers for Toy Story 3, which hits theaters in IMAX and Disney 3D on July 23rd.

About a month ago, we brought you news of the first new character to be revealed from Disney’s upcoming Toy Story 3. His name was Mr. Prickelpants, and he was a porcupine in lederhosen, voiced by Timothy Dalton. As if the characters couldn’t get any better than that, we just got word of the next four to be revealed.

Disney has even gone as far as to give descriptions of each new toy, staying in the context of the Toy Story Universe. Each of our favorites are still back, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Wallace Shawn as T. Rex, and John Ratzenberger as Piggy Bank.

While Disney may be closing it’s doors to one of their studios, we can expect to see plenty more from the giant as they plan for one of their biggest release years in some time. First up may be Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, but where some fans may be excited for that, there are many more for the upcoming Toy Story 3.

The upcoming sequel will be the first time that Pixar and Disney would return to the franchise since 1999, and nearly 15 years since it got kick-started with the first film. The whole gang will be back this time, with the exception of Jim Varney, who passed in 2000.

This time around, the toys find a new home as Andy moves to college. They find out what life is like from the clutches of toddlers in a day care…and it’s not pretty. With a script from Little Miss Sunshine’s Michael Arndt, the film is set for a release (in both IMAX and Disney’s trademarked 3-D) on June 8th.

Moviefone has gotten access to a new still from the upcoming Disney/Pixar Animation film Toy Story 3 showing the whole gang in their new setting. The immediate thing that sticks out to me is the cinematic scope that the image gives us – possibly inherited from the steps forward that PIXAR has made in its recent films, such as Wall-E and Up, where they’re presenting a more realistic, if still stylized, reality.

It could also be part of the effect of the movie being shot for 3-D, so it’s giving us that deeper sense of space and immersion into the environment. Wanting to see what the differences are in look, and possibly style, that director Lee Unkrich might be bringing to the series, I looked up these other stills/production shots from the previous two movies in the Toy Story franchise.

As predicted, Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are seemingly dominated the Box Office with $32.4M.  It played on a whopping 3,700+ screens, including IMAX screens, for a per-screen average of $8,693.  Sounds decent, but figure in the reported budget of $100M, and it looks like it may be a bit of a climb for the movie to be profitable, at least while in theaters.

The ultra-violent thriller Law Abiding Citizen boasted a very respectable $21.25M, and a $7,353 per screen average, which actually shows it performing very close to WTWTA.  It played in substantially fewer screens (2,890), and if  WTWTA had not had the benefit of IMAX prices, this would have been a much closer race.

The unstoppable juggernaut that is Paranormal Activity continued its trajectory scooping up another $20.1M on only 760 screens!  That puts its per screen average at more than $26,000, nearly three times what WTWTA averaged.  Pretty impressive.  It will expand further next weekend.

Couples Retreat dropped off 47.7%, but still made $17.9M, bringing its total to $63.3M over two weeks.

Those who were able to get out to the theaters over the past week to catch Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D got a glimpse of the brand new trailer for the third installment of the franchise Toy Story 3. The trailer is now online, and it may have just been worth the 11 year wait.

The film picks up years after 1999′s Toy Story 2. Andy has grown up, and is now heading off to college. He realizes he won’t be able to bring his beloved toys with him, so he’s forced to sell them to the highest bidder. It just so happens that the bidder is a local day care with unruly kids.

The toys decide to rebel and attempt an escape in what looks to be a great revisiting of the beloved characters. Though Jim Varney has passed way, everybody else is back for the ride this time, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, John Ratzenberger, Don Rickles, and Wallace Shawn. Joining the cast this time is Michael Keaton, R. Lee Ermey, Bonnie Hunt, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Overall, it was not a particularly impressive weekend at the box office, with the top films boasting relatively modest numbers. Sony Pictures should be smiling, though, because their studio nabbed the top two spots. According to Box Office Mojo, Zombieland lurched over the competition, raking in an estimated $25 million in its opening weekend.  The horror comedy has already recouped its budget, and will likely be a big success story this year, buoyed by positive reviews and good word of mouth.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs continues to impress and took in another $16.7 million for a cumulative gross of $82 million. The unusual move to release Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D drummed up some impressive interest, netting $12.5 million.  Disney is no doubt salivating over this, because Toy Story 3 is set to be released next summer.

The Invention of Lying from  comedian Ricky Gervais had a unimpressive opening of $7.3 million. Its budget was only $18 million, so it should be profitable anyway. In contrast, last week’s Surrogates also made $7.3 million this weekend. Its cumulative total is only $26.3, nowhere close to its reported $80 million budget.

Capitalism: A Love Story, and Whip It both earned $4.8 million, but Whip It played in almost twice as many theaters. Whip It is probably the biggest surprise of the weekend. It had good reviews, a likable and recognizable cast, and was highly promoted. It had to be a big disappointment to Drew Barrymore, who directed the movie, her first.

Recent holdovers Fame ($4.7), The Informant ($3.8) and Love Happens ($2.7) rounded out the top ten.
