What You Missed: ‘Chuck’, ‘Trauma’, ‘Law & Order’ And More

by Heather Toshiko, Mar 23 2010 // 11:00 AM

In case you were busy last night and were not able to catch the great dramas on NBC, including Chuck, Trauma, Law & Order and more, we’ve got highlights from the shows for you today. Starting with one of our favorites, Chuck, the clips highlights a fight between our hero and some tough guys which results in a precarious predicament for Chuck.

On Trauma, Nancy realizes she’s got to do whatever it takes if she really wants to be a doctor. For Law & Order, Lupo and Bernard go head-to-head with McCoy after clashing over how to handle a case. Plus, we’ve got a preview of next week’s show featuring guest star Tony Hale in a dramatic role as a father involved in a bitter international custody battle.

Finally, on Jimmy Fallon, Human Target‘s Mark Valley drops by to talk about his love of Civil War reenactments and also he shows Jimmy how throw a fake punch. Being a pretty good action guy on the show, he should know.

NBC Wants More ‘Chuck’ But No More ‘Trauma’

by Cortney Zamm, Oct 30 2009 // 7:00 AM

NUP_111042_1145Medical drama Trauma has been on life support for quite some time, and although it had a glimpse of hope last week as its ratings improved, it looks like the show has flat lined. According to Hollywood Reporter, NBC will not be picking up the show after its 13-episode order.

Good news for NBC’s Chuck, as the show has been picked up for six more episodes. Chuck wasn’t slated to come back until after the Winter Olympics, but now its 19-episode run is rumored to start in January. This news should help patch things up between NBC and Chuck-producers Warner Bros., who recently butted heads over the cancellation of cop drama Southland.

Two other new NBC series, Community and Mercy, have been picked up for full seasons, along with Parks and Recreation, which is in its second season.

NBC Posts New ‘Trauma’ Video: ‘Cameron Boone’

by Matt Raub, Sep 28 2009 // 2:15 PM

Picture 1We’ve been pretty excited for NBC’s newest field/hospital drama Trauma, about a group of first responders in San Francisco, and the heroic feats they go through on a daily basis. Last week, we brought you a special sneak peak at the show’s pilot, and now there’s a brand new video podcast showing off Cameron Boone, one of the main characters of the show (played by Miracle at St. Anna’s Derek Luke).

The video podcast is a brief narrative in the voice of Cameron in which he talks about the things that go on for both him and the victims of a trauma. NBC has been on promotions overload with this new program, with the first four minutes of the premiere up on NBC.com. Also, they have stepped up the social networking of Trauma with both Facebook and Twitter pages for fans.

Along with Derek Luke, the show also stars Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die Hard), Anastasia Griffith (Damages), and Aimee Garcia (The George Lopez Show). The first episode premieres on NBC tonight at 9PM/8PM Central. Check out the first video podcast, Cameron Boon, after the jump.

More ‘Trauma’, ‘Mercy’ and ‘Law & Order’ Sneak Peeks

by Chris Ullrich, Sep 22 2009 // 7:55 AM

law-and-order-castOur friends at NBC have provided us with even more sneak peeks at their upcoming shows Trauma, Mercy and the returning juggernaut Law & Order, back this year for its landmark 20th season. We’ve got seven new videos to share with you today. The first ones come from Trauma and feature an action packed look behind the scenes giving you a first hand look at the role of the first responders. The second provides a closer look at the men and women who are first on the scene and run into the danger to help you.

The third Trauma video talks more about the “raw emotion” of the show and how its stories unfold with emotion and depth. Moving on to Mercy, the videos from that show give you more insight into the characters on this drama. First, the cast talks more about their characters and their stories. Next are interviews with Jamie Lee Kirchner and Taylor Schilling who explain their characters and why they love them so much. Finaly, we’ve got a video from Law and Order where the cast and series creator Dick Wolf talk about the legacy of the show now that its starting its 20th season.

All in all lots of great info on some new shows and a new insight into a show that’s been around for quite some time. Be sure to check out all the videos after the jump. Trauma premieres on Monday, September 28th, Mercy on September 23rd and Law & Order returns on September 25th.

New Sneak Peeks at NBC’s ‘Trauma’ and ‘Mercy’

by Chris Ullrich, Sep 11 2009 // 4:30 PM

michelle-cliffNBC seems to be pulling out all the stops promoting its new Fall shows. Well, at least some of them because they keep sending us new promos for the shows pretty much weekly and, of course, we’ll keep putting them up so you can get a look at them. This time around we’ve got a couple looks at both Trauma and Mercy — two of the networks freshmen medical dramas — for you today. In these clips, more sneak peek at actual things going on in the shows than traditional promos, we get further information about the characters and situations that we can expect when watching them.

Its been a while since I really liked a medical drama having given up on shows like Grey’s Anatomy and ER long ago. But after seeing all the promos and such for these two shows I’m still kinda interested in both of them. Each has its strengths to be sure such as interesting casts — Taylor Schilling and Michelle Trachtenberg in the case of Mercy and Cliff Curtis, Derek Luke and Jamey Sheridan in the case of Trauma — and somewhat unique perspectives on the medical drama. But in the long run I guess before I can really make a determination, I’ll just have to watch them. Of course, I will — especially if the kind folks at NBC send over some screeners.

Trauma hits the air on Monday, September 28th and Mercy on September 23rd. Check out the new sneak peeks after the break.

Brand New Promos for NBC’s ‘Heroes’, ‘Mercy’ & ‘Trauma’

by Chris Ullrich, Aug 17 2009 // 1:30 PM

hayden-shotgun-heroesOur good friends at NBC have sent us a whole bunch of brand new promos for their upcoming shows debuting this Fall. One will look familiar to you and the other two are brand new, but all three look to try and up the ante for scripted network drama this season.

First up are a couple of promos for Heroes, returning for its third season on Monday, September 21. In these, we get to see which characters are coming back this time and also watch as Peter takes on a new and dangerous power. Next, there’s a couple from freshmen drama Mercy, which tells the “traditional” hospital story in a new way: from the POV of nurses including Iraq vet Veronica (Taylor Schilling) and newcomer Chloe (Michelle Trachtenberg). Mercy premieres on Wednesday, September 23rd.

Finally, we’ve got a couple promos from another freshmen drama called Trauma. In this one, a team of first responder paramedics help people by land, sea and air and also deal with the pressures of their jobs and everyday lives. This one features Cliff Curtis, Derek Luke and Jamey Sheridan and hits the air on Monday, September 28th.

Check out all the new promos after the jump.

New Promos for ‘Trauma’, ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Community’

by Chris Ullrich, Jun 23 2009 // 4:15 PM

community-show

The good people at NBC have seen fit to send us some promos for three of their upcoming Fall tv series. The shows, Parenthood, Community and Trauma, each have recognizable and likeable casts, good production value and look to be worth checking out. Here’s a bit about each show.

Parenthood – From Imagine Entertainment’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, writer/executive producer Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights), and Emmy Award-winning director Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing) comes this contemporary re-imagining of the blockbuster film Parenthood, focusing on the everyday challenges that modern families face while raising children and starting over.

traumaCommunity – From Emmy Award-winning directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Arrested Development) comes a smart comedy about higher education…and lower expectations. Community focuses on a band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talkin’ lawyer whose degree has been revoked (Joel McHale, The Soup). They form a study group and, in Breakfast Club fashion, end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work.

Trauma – From executive producer Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights), Trauma is the first high-octane medical franchise to live exclusively in the field, where the real action is. Trauma is an intense, action-packed look at one of the most dangerous medical professions in the world: first responder paramedics.

Be sure to check out all three promos after the break. For all the latest news on NBC’s upcoming Fall schedule, go here.
