On this episode Chris and Joe move on from Horror and Halloween into a hell of a different kind: development. That’s right, this week the boys go deep into the filmmaking process and discuss how the sausage is made. In fact, they even talk about what’s inside the sausage before it gets stuffed into those tasty tubes.
Damn, now we want sausage. Or donuts. That metaphor works too. Anyway, this week’s episode gets into all the aspects of filmmaking including the development and pre-production process, production and a bit about post and distribution as well.
Believe us, it’s way more interesting than it sounds. No, really. And yes, they also discuss a lot, well, you know, more. It’s another great episode. Thanks for listening.

Two of my favorite sub-genres are Gladiator and Zombie movies. So, imagine my excitement when hearing the news that horror master Clive Barker, of Hellraiser fame, has been tapped to write a new film for Amazon Studios called, appropriately enough, Gladiators vs. Zombies.
That’s right horror fans, the Barkmeister himself is set to rewrite and direct the film which will center on a shaman who’s about to die. Before he’s killed he lets loose the first plague of zombies against Rome and it’s up to a group of gladiators to stop the hungry zombie hordes.
Sounds like a winner to me. Zombies are really popular these days, even showing up in the (spoilers) recent season finale of Game of Thrones. Plus, The Walking Dead is going as strong as ever so the zombie craze seems to have no end in sight.
Still, any movie is a risk and this could also end up being a huge disappointment. Anyone remember Cowboys vs. Aliens? Yeah.

No, we’re not talking about a posthumous sequel to Nietzsche’s philosophy book. For those of you who don’t remember, Beyond Good and Evil was a third-person action/adventure title released by Ubisoft way back when in 2003. While it didn’t sell especially well, it has remained a fan favorite even into the new generation of gaming; combining traditional action and platforming with puzzle solving, combat, and even some photography elements.
Ubisoft official Michel Ancel (creator of the Rayman series) announced recently that long-anticipated sequel was not shelved, but “In an active creation stage [and] at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can.” While no platform info or release date has been announced, it would seem that the game is being created with next-gen consoles in mind. Ancel added, “We focus on the game. We create it first, then we’ll see what can run it. We don’t say 2013 because we don’t know when it will come. We’re working to create a great game and it needs more tech.”
Check out the first (alleged) screenshot of Beyond Good & Evil 2 after the jump, as well as the official teaser that debuted early last year.

With the massive success of The Walking Dead TV series, it should come as no surprise AMC wants to stay in the Robert Kirkman business. Following that plan is the network’s announcement today that they are developing another Kirkman comic property, his recently launched Thief of Thieves, as a series with the writer and Walking Dead Exec. Producer Chic Eglee.
“Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals,” said Kirkman.
Thief of Thieves, which Kirkman reportedly based on his experience in the writer’s room of The Walking Dead, centers on master thief Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife and son, vows to walk the straight and narrow, only to discover he’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the “Thief of Thieves.”
The first arc of the comic is being written by Nick Spencer with art by Shawn Martinbrough. Eglee will serve as showrunner of the potential TV series and will executive produce alongside Kirkman and Walking Dead Exec. Producer David Alpert.
Sounds interesting. Although, it doesn’t seem like it will have the coolness factor that Walking Dead has. No zombies.
How about you guys? Excited for this new Kirkman venture or prefer his more horror-related stories?

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the closed doors and glass windows of a giant movie production company, wonder no more. In this awesome video from YouTube’s NathanGotsch you can finally see the exciting process of Hollywood movie and TV development at its finest.
In the video you can clearly see all the hard work, sweat, tears and creativity that goes into coming up with the idea for the next, big, Hollywood blockbuster franchise. Or, if you’re a bit more cynical, you can see this video as an indictment of the entire Hollywood movie making system. Either way, you have to admit, it’s pretty funny.
Apparently, executives at Disney have already seen this video and privately many of them agree it’s not only funny but spot on as to the process. Of course, they’ll probably never admit it publicly. It really doesn’t matter all that much because for most people, this is probably what they think happens in a pitch meeting anyway. Otherwise, how can we explain all the crap movies that come out each and every week?
Whatever your feelings about Hollywood or the process of filmmaking, funny is funny. So, check out this very funny video after the jump.

If you were one of the many Wonder Woman fans eagerly awaiting the debut of the new show featuring your favorite female Amazon, sad to say but you’re going to have to wait a bit longer. The TV reboot of Wonder Woman that we told you about previously is being postponed.
Set to be written and produced by big time TV guy David E. Kelley, the show had gone out to various networks after Kelly’s script was finished but as if often the case with high-profile and expensive projects like this (superheroes in WWII), the major networks decided to pass or couldn’t reach a consensus decision. According to reports, this is not a reflection on Kelly’s take on the material (which is said to be good) but more on the current state of network TV and the timing of the project.
Supposedly, here’s how things went. This will give you a bit of insight into how Hollywood works. The project was supposedly taken to the networks on Wednesday night. Fox and ABC passed and the CW couldn’t afford it. This left CBS and NBC. The execs at CBS could not make a decision and with no real person in charge at NBC yet (new chief of programming Bob Geeenblat has yet to start) it was a no go there as well.
So, for those keeping score, that was a pass (because we don’t like anything good), a pass (because we’re owned by Disney who owns Marvel), a too expensive, a we can’t make up our minds and a we can’t make a decision because we’re afraid to do so before a new boss starts. Yes, I added those little items in parenthesis but after being around Hollywood for many years I have learned to read between the lines.
Besides, between the lines is where all the interesting stuff happens anyway. And no, that pic of Lynda Carter has nothing to do with David E. Kelly’s Wonder Woman TV show. I just like it, so there.
