You knew it was bound to happen. After all, it’s been years since the last cinematic incarnation of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. You know, the one that featured Captain America‘s Chris Evans in his first Marvel superhero role: Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch.
Well, have no fear, there’s a new version of the Fantastic Four coming our way. In fact, the first teaser for it just dropped and we have to say, it looks pretty good. Sure, you could argue about some of the casting or story choices (especially certain family ties, or lack of) but that’s not really the point.
This is a movie based on a comic book series. It may not satisfy everyone, especially hard-core comics fans, but it might just be a good movie anyway.
We’ll find out when it hits theaters on August 7. Check it out after the break.

Okay, now we’re back on track. That’s right, two brand new episodes of The Flickcast in a row. No, no need to thank us. We just like to do nice things for you.
This week Chris and Joe take on some new topics and some old ones. Some of these include Hugh Jackman, the X-Men, the new Fantastic Four movie, St. Patrick’s Day myths and if beer is a good substitute for, well, pretty much anything. They also discuss a bunch of other stuff, but no need to go into it now. Just listen. You’ll enjoy it.
This week’s picks include Chris’ pick of the Hop Rod Rye IPA from the fine folks at Bear Republic Brewing Co. and Joe’s pick of the new TV series Crisis on NBC.

As crime fighting comic book families go, the Fantastic Four ranks as one of the greatest. Their exploits in the pages of comics and on the big screen have entertained millions of fans throughout the world. Now, Marvel is set to relaunch the team in a brand new comic series called, appropriately enough, Fantastic Four.
Here’s more from the Marvel’s mouth:
Cosmic explorers – heroes forever united as family. The world’s greatest comic magazine begins anew as Marvel’s First Family bursts back into the spotlight in FANTASTIC FOUR #1, from Eisner Award winning writer James Robinson and critically acclaimed artist Leonard Kirk.
The brilliant Mr. Fantastic, the compassionate Invisible Woman, hot-headed Human Torch, and the ever-lovin’ Thing return for a new ongoing series fraught with danger, excitement & intrigue. Only they won’t be met with new beginnings – but an untimely end!
“The team will be brought down,” says James Robinson, in an interview with Marvel.com. “Despite the fact these characters are a family and have always stuck together, there are forces that push them into directions you never thought you’d see.”
“Some rifts will be so big the Fantastic Four may never be the same,” added editor Mark Paniccia, “We’re talking about a serious, hardcore attempt at destroying them…not just on a physical level but emotionally as well.”
Check out the previews after the break. Look for Fantastic Four #1 to hit stores on February 19.

Even though the Fantastic Four movies weren’t all that memorable, at least we still have the comics to enjoy. And now, as part of Marvel’s new ‘Marvel Now’ initiative, there’s a new Fantastic Four comic just around the corner.
Written by Matt Fraction with art by Mark Bagley, the new series features, as Marvel puts it:
Four adults. Two kids. One FantastiCar. NOW! Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben – along with Franklin and Valeria – begin their epic journey through all of infinite time and space!
An all-new direction! All-new adventures! This is Fantastic Four NOW!
As usual, Marvel loves exclamation points. Who doesn’t?!!! Well, you get the idea.
Anyway, we’ve got previews for the new comic after the break so go and check them out. Look for Fantastic Four #1 to arrive in comic shops, and via digital download, on November 14.

We told you last week that Marvel and Fox were in talks to make a trade of sorts. Fox would get an extension on their Daredevil rights and Marvel would recoup certain specific character rights from the Fantastic Four universe, including Silver Surfer and Galactus. This seemed like a no brainer for both sides and was potentially step one for cross studio cooperation.
Of course when something seems to good to be true it often is. Word is now out that the talks have fallen through and Fox will lose the Daredevil rights and retain their full Fantastic Four catalog. This development is the very definition of a good news, bad news situation.
On one hand, any time Marvel Studios gets a chance to pull in the rights to one of its characters and their universe it is a good thing. It is unlikely that Matt Murdock will be fighting alongside The Avengers any time soon, but Marvel Studios is ever-expanding, and it is likely we will see a faithful Daredevil adaptation in some form or another eventually. Plus keeping Silver Surfer and Galactus with the Fantastic Four allows for the chance that a proper FF reboot can use two of their more important in-universe characters.

It seems as if every super hero project at Fox has to go through at least one director kerfuffle during it’s pre-production. So it is hardly a surprise to hear that Daredevil just lost its director.
David Slade has officially dropped out of the project that can ill afford any delays. If Fox can’t get this movie into production soon they run the risk of losing the rights back to Marvel. A pleasant prospect to anyone who doesn’t work for Fox.
Which is exactly why this is bitter-sweet news, because the fans ultimately win if Fox totally screws the pooch on this film and loses the rights.
That isn’t the only pertinent Fox based director news to hit today either. Josh Trank, who made the stellar super hero found footage movie Chronicle, has finally signed on the dotted line to take over Fantastic Four. Trank has been rumored for the job since the 8:00pm screenings let out on Chronicle‘s opening day, but it is nice to see the deal get inked.
While it would be nice to see FF get mired in the same sort of limbo that might bring Daredevil back to the Marvel Studios fold, I think Fox is capable of letting Trank make a Fantastic movie. Fox has done a lot to mend the fences with genre fans in the last couple of years with the resurgence of their X-Men and Apes franchises.

For most young boys growing up in the 90s, there were two very prominent things in the pop culture world. One of them was the overabundance of sexualized female superheroes in comics thanks to some beautiful art by the likes of Rob Liefeld, Jimmy Palmiotti, and others. The other thing was more and more big-breasted women popping up in the WWF, which gave the young boys losing interest in the dragging story lines something more interesting to focus on.
Little did we know that only a few decades later, we’d be seeing the two pubescent fantasies combine into one massive phenomenon, as Vivid has announced Joanie “Chyna” Laurer has been cast as the lead in Axel Braun’s upcoming superhero porn parody, She-Hulk XXX. Here’s the blurb from the press release.
Chyna plays She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters, cousin of Bruce Banner, best known to most of the world at The Hulk. When her emotional state is sufficiently high, she is the strongest woman in the world. She has been a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for hire, the Defenders, Fantastic Force and S.H.I.E.L.D. She-Hulk is also a highly skilled lawyer who has served as legal counsel to several of the superheroes when needed.
