Hey folks, it’s time for a brand new episode of the occasional series The Flickcast. And no, we still don’t have a joke for this one. Besides, isn’t it a little late for jokes? We think so too.
On this week’s episode Chris and Joe discuss a bunch of stuff including more on The Expanse, Legion, Battlestar Galactica (old and new), Iron Fist, Ghost In the Shell, and much more. Plus, the usual even more.
No beer selections again this week (the boys are on the wagon at the moment) except to remind you to buy local, if you can. Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the novel Alone, by Scott Sigler, and Joe’s pick of the podcast Homecoming.

With the news dropping today that Syfy has decided to renew Helix for another season of 13 episodes, there’s no more excuses left if you haven’t watched it yet. Although, with the season finale being tonight, you probably want to start back at the beginning.
However, if you’ve been watching from the start as we have, then you’re already anticipating tonight’s finale. To help you get even more in the mood we’ve got some previews of the episode for you.
Tonight “The scientists battle the Scythe to save the world from ruins. Meanwhile, Julia searches for answers after discovering someone from her past is still alive.” Plus, as the series is coming back next year, we can probably expect some sort of cliffhanger ending. Can’t wait.
Check out all the stuff after the break. Look for Helix at 10/9C on Syfy. And, look for the show to return in the Winter of 2015.

It’s Friday so that means a new episode of Syfy’s Helix. And yes, we’re pretty glad about that. The show is fun and we enjoy it. So should you.
On this week’s episode as Jordan’s condition deteriorates, Alan and Julia travel to an abandoned satellite station for help. There they will learn more about the virus – and Hatake’s plans. Oh Hitake, you evil man.
We’ve got a preview for tonight’s episode for you after the break. Also, there’s an interview with series star Kyra Zagorsky who talks about filming one of the most difficult scenes for her character. Sorry, could be some spoilers.
Check out both videos after the break. Helix airs tonight at 10/9C on Syfy.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Helix is a fun show. It’s also quite good and scary. So, you owe it to yourself to watch.
To help get you interested, we’ve got another in a series of previews for the show. This week’s episode is called “Level X” and promises to be just as crazy as the last ones.
In it “the scientists will learn more information about the virus, after discovering a secret lower level within the research facility.” And you just know that can’t be good. . . for anyone.
Check out the preview, and more, after the break. Look for Helix on Friday at 10/9C on Syfy.

We hope you’re enjoying Syfy’s new sci-fi horror series Helix as much as we are. We really like it. It’s good. If you haven’t had a chance to catch it yet, now is the perfect time. Why?
Well, the network is having a marathon of the first five episodes starting tomorrow night. That should get you caught up enough to watch the brand new episode airing on Friday.
Of course, we have previews for all of this to share with you right now. Check them out, as usual, after the break.
Helix airs Fridays at 10/9C on Syfy. Look for the episode 1-5 marathon at 6/5C on Thursday.

Making TV shows is hard work. Making them good is even harder. Fortunately, the folks at Syfy’s Helix have managed to do both. And do them very well.
In addition to being good, the show is also one of the most successful on Syfy in its history. We’re glad to hear that because we really like the show. If you’re not watching, it’s time to check it out.
To give you a taste, we’ve got a preview for Friday’s all-new episode. In addition, we’ve got videos featuring series co-star Catherine Lemieux discussing last week’s episode and a compilation of the most shocking, head scratching moments from the episode.
Check out all the videos after the break. Helix, which stars Billy Campbell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kyra Zagorsky and Mark Ghanimé, airs Friday at 10/9C on Syfy. Check out the preview after the break.

There’s a lack of great Sci-Fi shows on TV these days. Sure, occasionally, one comes along, but for the most part, you don’t really see them much, or if you do, they don’t seem to last very long. The new show Helix on Syfy is both great and one we hope lasts a long time.
Coming from Exec. Producer Ron Moore (of Battlestar Galactica fame) and created by Cameron Porsandeh, the debut of the show was one of the most highly rated premieres on Syfy in its history. A new episode airs tonight and we, of course, have a preview of it for you.
In this one we see how things are going for the team sent to investigate a series of bizarre and deadly incidents at a remote research station. Needless to say, things don’t go as planned. In fact, things go really, really bad.
Helix, which stars Billy Campbell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kyra Zagorsky and Mark Ghanimé airs tonight at 10/9C on SyFy. Check out the preview after the break.

If you know anything about The Flickcast team, you know we’re huge fans of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. It was an excellent show and we are grateful that Syfy decided to run it for as long as they did.
We are also fans of BSG creator and Exec. Producer Ron Moore, so when he’s about to launch a new show, we take notice. That new show is called Helix and from the what we can see in this brand new trailer, it looks like it could become one of our new favorites.
Here’s more about the show, directly from Syfy:
Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control, led by Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell), who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation…or total annihilation.
Check out the brand new trailer after the break. Helix premieres Friday, January 10 at 10/9c, on Syfy.

Since Ron Moore’s Battlestar Galactica went off the air a few years ago, there have been plenty of fans with a critical response as to the way the storylines got wrapped up and had a less-than impressive ending.
Now, through the genius of College Humor, they have managed to sum up all 4 seasons of the epic sci-fi series into a simple RPG circa the mid 1990s. With all of the wonderful text-based options to boot.
So if you were a fan of the series, or not so much, you will thoroughly enjoy this video game satire. If only it were real…Take a look after the jump.

When Battlestar Galactica ended its run a few years ago fans were pretty disappointed. It was a great show that was enjoyed by a lot of people. One of the reasons for that enjoyment was the great cast.
Ron Moore, Exec. Producer and Co-Creator of the re-imagined series, tried to give fans something they’ve been wising for with the pilot for his series for NBC called 17th Precinct. Reuniting for the pilot were BSG alumni Jamie Bamber, James Callis and Tricia Helfer along with Caprica‘s Esai Morales. Sadly, no Edward James Olmos was in sight.
However, what we did get is a pretty interesting and inventive pilot which gives a new twist on the well-worn police procedural. It’s so fresh, in fact, that’s that’s probably the reason NBC decided not to pick it up. They would rather have a block of Whitney Cummings and Chelsey Handler shows and put Community on “hiatus” than have original programming.
But, I digress. Check out the pilot after the break while you still can. It might go away just as fast as it appeared.
