Last time on Weekly Link Love we featured some YouTube creators who’s work we enjoy watching and learning from. This week we’re switching it up a bit and giving you a heads up about cool Twitter accounts we enjoy reading and think you’ll enjoy too.
That’s right, it’s time for another edition of Weekly Link Love. As we’ve done before, this is place where we highlight websites, blogs, videos, socials (including cool Twitter accounts) or other people & places we think you should know about.
Sure, Twitter can often be a shitty place filled with meandering “hot takes” and people who’d rather argue than make an actual point, but it’s got some good things going for it too. It’s not all bad, especially now that certain people have been asked to vacate the premises. That means more cool Twitter accounts left to follow!
You may have heard of none, some, or all of these Twitter users. And yes, we know we featured a few of them in previous Weekly Link Love posts, but they’re worth your time so we’re link loving them again!
So that’s that. As always, don’t forget to spread the love.
Now, on to the links!
Alex Segura – We love Alex’s work, especially his Pete Fernandez series and recent Poe Dameron: Freefall book, but it’s his positive attitude and how he helps the community of writers that we’re especially fond of. Alex is good people.
Alison Martino – We love Alison’s look at Los Angeles from the past. That town has changed (in some ways not for the better) and it’s great to see it during the “glory days” when anything seemed possible.
Ashley Warren – Writer, content creator, teacher and all-around cool person, Ashley is a great writer herself and can help with your writing too. Plus, she makes some great D&D stuff. We love that.
Chuck Wendig – Another one of our favorite writers on Twitter. Chuck’s novels, especially Wanderers (which is our favorite) are great and his writing advice, gentle or otherwise, is top notch. Follow him and you won’t be sorry. Plus, you just may learn something too.
Deborah Ann Woll – We first noticed her because of her amazing work as an actress on True Blood and Netflix’s Daredevil. Now we follow her for great D&D tips and adventures and because she’s just really cool.
Dyson Logos – This guy draws some of the best D&D maps we’ve ever seen and he shares his knowledge freely. We like that.
Gail Simone – One of the best writers working in comics today. Also, one of the funniest and nicest too. Definitely worth a follow.
James S.A. Corey – We love The Expanse books and TV series, so this account is a must follow for us. Plus, his info and opinions on science, writing, space, life and more are first rate. And, he doesn’t suffer fools. We appreciate that.
Javier Grillo-Marxuach – A terrific writer and television creator who also takes time out of his day to help other writers be better at their craft. What’s not to like?
John Scalzi – We can’t highlight people to follow on Twitter without mentioning Scalzi. We love his books, his blog, his Twitter account and his no-bullshit attitude towards certain topics and individuals. Definitely worth your time and a follow.
Jon Enge – One of our favorite creators and a damn fine Dungeon Master too. Check him out (along with our own Chris Ullrich and John Carle) on Twitch every Sunday night.
Keith Ammann – Author of some of our favorite D&D books about monsters, characters and how they fight.
Scott Weinberg – We know a lot about movies, but Scott kinda puts us to shame, especially in the horror genre. Plus, he’s pretty funny too.
Seth Rogen – You may not love him or his movies (we do, btw). We think he’s funny as hell, especially when he’s proving just how dumb certain other Twitter users are. You know what we’re talking about, right? Of course you do.
Swear Trek – If you ever wanted to see what various Star Trek characters really think, follow this account.
The Spaceshipper – Do you love cool space ships and more from classic sci-fi shows, movies and more? This is the account to follow.
That’s enough for today. But don’t worry, we’ll do this again soon. We follow a lot of cool people on Twitter.
Did we forget one of your favorites? Who do you enjoy following on Twitter? Sound off in the comments or hit us up on Facebook, Instagram or, magically, on Twitter. We’re there too. Amazing, right?
Happy Twittering!

That’s right. It’s time for a brand new episode of The Flickcast. And because we still don’t keep to a regular schedule these days, let’s say this one (like last week’s) arrived right on time. Cool? Cool.
On this week’s show Chris and Joe continue to discuss Captain America: Civil War, the next Ghostbusters movie, the new Star Trek series, the DCU shakeup, Superman v. Batman, Warner Brothers, Agent Carter and Joe finally watches Deadpool and is prepared to talk about it. Plus, a whole lot more.
Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the new AMC series Preacher and Joe’s pick of the original Independence Day.

New Bat time! New Bat channel! Well, the same channel, actually. But yes, a new time (and day). That’s right, it’s another new episode of The Flickcast on its new day: Wednesday!
Fortunately, you’ll still get the same great show, just on a new day. So don’t worry. And yes, it’s still free.
This week Chris and Joe are back with a whole slew of new and recurring topics. Some of these topics include new casting for Superman vs. Batman (Lex Luthor!), the adaptation of Preacher for the small screen at AMC, John Scalzi’s Redshirts on its way to FX, The Walking Dead returns and whatever else they can think of to talk about.
That’s right, the ever-present more. And, 9% more sincerity this week. Sorry, that’s all we have. The move took a lot out of us.
This week’s picks include some awesome stuff. You’ll just have to listen to find out.

I’ve had, for some time, the suspicion that the current comedy troop of Rogen, Hill, Cera, and Franco would eventually get to the point where, instead of a script, they would just sit around and talk. Now we have This Is the End, and if this isn’t the logical conclusion of the gang’s comedy, it’s damn close.
The premise is that Jay Baruchel is in LA to visit his friend Seth Rogen. Their friendship has been on the skids, and Rogen’s insistence that they attend a party at James Franco’s house instead of, I don’t know, hang out and smoke weed. doesn’t help. At Franco’s they meet up with Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, and several others within or slightly out of their group’s ever-expanding radius, such as Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Martin Starr, Chritopher Mintz-Plasse, and now, I guess, Emma Watson.
Freak disruptions start to occur all over the place — sinkholes swallow up many of the party-goers, others are lifted to heaven in columns of blue light, fires explode across Hollywood, and the five find themselves barricaded in Franco’s house — until Danny McBride shows up and makes their sixth.

April Fools Day is usually a day that brings tons of fake news, including trailer releases (like that Legend of Zelda trailer that will never be made into a movie *sadface*). But this year, April 1st was the release date of the red band trailer for the unbelievably star-packed action comedy This Is The End starring James Franco (who has had an already packed 2013 with the release of Spring Breakers and Oz The Great and Powerful), Seth Rogen, Emma Watson, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, and that’s just the supposed “main cast.” From just watching the trailer, expect appearances by Michael Cera, Rihanna, Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Mindy Kaling, and more. Holy freaking casting!
The main plot of the movie is simple: James Franco is throwing a kick-ass party and invites all his friends (because celebrities always party with tons of other celebrities) to have a crazy good time. Until the apocalypse happens. Los Angeles is engulfed in fire and brimstone, monsters and aliens are running rampant, people are looting and killing, mass hysteria basically.
Eventually, the main cast barricade themselves in what’s left of Franco’s house and try to survive. At one point, Emma Watson breaks in with an ax (a freaking AX) to try her hand at some looting, which looks to be successful based on the apparent self-testimonial video that is shot by the guys who are documenting what’s going on during the end of days.

While doing the promoting rounds for Season 9 of The Office, series mastermind Greg Daniels has been pretty open about the fate of the show. The upcoming season will be the last hurrah of the Dunder Mifflin staff we all know and love.
Daniels is also telling people to expect a more ‘arc-heavy’ season with several long-standing recurring ties finally being answered. Perhaps some of the more intriguing of those ties will be the ultimate reveal of who the documentary filmmakers are, and of course the final revelation of who the Stanton Strangler is.
At some point during the last season we will be introduced to Dwight’s extended family and the stars of the spin-off series, The Farm. Casting is underway now to film a back door pilot during the season that will lead to the show most likely premiering next fall in place of the departing Office.
People have expressed some issues with the show since the departure of Steve Carrell, but I honestly feel the show has maintained a really solid core of characters you can care about in interesting situations. That said, the show has always had a good track record of bringing back former cast members for important stories, so hopefully we can see Michael Scott return and make everyone happy one more time.
Stay tuned to The Flickcast for any more Fall TV news as the new seasons fast approach.

I’d almost forgotten that the last time Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn teamed up was in 2004’s Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and if you asked me why I like that movie so much and am pretty indifferent on The Watch, I’d be hard-pressed to explain why. Both have very simple premises, feature largely improv performers, and The Watch has the added benefit of Jonah Hill — playing a younger, more broad version of Walter Sobchek.
Then again, Dodgeball had cleverer jokes, Vaughn in the lead (instead of Stiller), and Rip Torn, who trumps pretty much everything in the universe. It also seemed to be having a lot more fun. The Watch, on the other hand, is kind of like the unpopular kid at the playground that’s consigned itself to the tilt-a-whirl: functioning on autopilot and trying to find bits of entertainment when they come. Even the trailer has no qualms revealing the twist of aliens coming to earth, and since there’s not much else after that, for the first half hour or so, we follow Stiller around waiting for the movie to get going.

It may be difficult for some to think of Seth Rogen as a romantic leading man. However, in this particular film, that’s okay because he’s actually the other guy. He’s the husband that hottie wife Michalle Williams is bored with and considers cheating on.
All of this happens in the upcoming film Take This Waltz. We’ve got a trailer for it to share wtih you today. Here’s more about the film from its official synopsis:
When Margot (Michelle Williams), 28, meets Daniel (Luke Kirby), their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction; she is happily married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook writer. When she learns that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters.
She and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, TAKE THIS WALTZ leads us, laughing, through the familiar, but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves.
Take a look at the trailer after the break. Look for Take this Waltz to arrive in theaters on June 29.

There wasn’t much going on this Saturday, so I figured I might as well take the Brown Line up to the Western stop, then catch the 1:10 viewing at the Davis Theatre. I wasn’t much in the mood to head downtown to one of the AMCs, so I decided to venture uptown.
The Davis is one of those theaters that looks like it’s been around for years. It has the old-style theater sign with the letters descending in vertical order. I’d been there once before to see The King’s Speech with a friend who lives around the area, but I didn’t remember the distinct smell of urine that pervaded everywhere, from the box-office to the screening room itself.
