Ashton Kutcher To Put On Steve Jobs’ Turtle Neck in Biopic ‘Jobs’

by Jonathan Weilbaecher, Apr 2 2012 // 3:00 PM

When Steve Jobs passed last year there seemed to be a big push to commit his life story to film. Job’s story is incredibly interesting, and he eventually was a key contributor in many cultural milestones.

Variety is reporting that the independent production, Jobs, has landed its lead:

The King of Twitter is now the King of Apple, as “Two and a Half Men” star Ashton Kutcher is attached to play Steve Jobs in the indie pic “Jobs,” which Joshua Michael Stern (“Swing Vote”) will direct from a script by Matt Whiteley… The film will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.

At first glance Kutcher seems an odd choice to play one of the most beloved CEOs of our time, but when you really think about it could be an inspired choice. Kutcher has a pretty obnoxious personality, but he is a capable actor who certainly looks the part.

Jobs is only one of several Steve Jobs related projects that are trying to see the light of day, so snagging a big name actor to star is a good first step in making the independent production relevant against other larger profile competition.

It’s the End of the Year as the First ‘New Year’s Eve’ Trailer Hits

by Sebastian Suchecki, Sep 29 2011 // 8:30 AM

As good as the movie was, 2003′s Love Actually had no idea what it was starting in the form of romantic comedies featuring a super ensemble cast. It was brought to the (more) public eye last year with Garry Marshall’s Valentine’s Day and now the ante is only getting upped with New Year’s Eve.

The film’s premise is relatively straightforward, but its the cast that really sells it.

“New Year’s Eve” celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.

Are you ready for a cast list to be reckoned with? Take a breath, because you’re looking at seeing Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank, and Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara join the cast of New Year’s Eve.

How the film isn’t going to be 12 hours long, we have no idea. Instead, you can check out the brand new trailer for the film after the jump. New Year’s Eve is set to hit theaters on December 9th.

Details on Charlie Sheen’s ‘Two And A Half Men’ Character Death Revealed

by Matt Raub, Aug 24 2011 // 8:00 AM

While all of the drama happened between former star of CBS’s Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen, the show’s creator, Chuck Lorre, and the new replacement, Ashton Kutcher, one question never got raised: How do you explain to the fans what happened to Charlie’s character on the show?

That’s one detail Lorre seems to have down all too well, as the details of Charlie Harper’s gruesome death have been revealed to those who saw the taping of the show. Needless to say, it’s not very funny. Here’s the report from ScreenRant.

Charlie is going to be murdered by being pushed in front of a subway car, and his body literally explodes from the impact.

According to those at the taping, here’s how Charlie Harper’s death happens:

• In the Two and a Half Men season 8 finale, Harper flew off to Paris with Rose – his neighbor/stalker.
• Harper and Rose got married (during the fictional summer), but the relationship took a turn for the worse when she found him with another woman in the shower.
• The day after catching Harper in the shower with another woman, they were waiting for the Paris subway when Harper “slipped” in front of a moving car where his body blew apart upon impact.
• It’s implied that Rose pushed Harper in front of the subway and got away with his murder.

Comedy Central Jumping on the Charlie Sheen Bandwagon with an Official Roast

by Sebastian Suchecki, Jul 6 2011 // 7:00 AM

Probably a bit too late for it to be popular, but Comedy Central has been scraping the bottom of the “who’s funny right now” barrel with Hasselhoff and Donald Trump being the last few names to grace the Comedy Central Roast stage. Now it seems they’re still trying to catch up with the viral webgoers, as Charlie Sheen has agreed to star in his very own roast. They even have a hashtag reserved!

NEW YORK, July 5, 2011 – COMEDY CENTRAL has secured one of Hollywood’s most notorious bad boys.  The network announced today that Charlie Sheen will be the next Roastee.  The “COMEDY CENTRAL Roast Of Charlie Sheen” (#SheenRoast) will tape in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 10.

The Roast will premiere on COMEDY CENTRAL on Monday, September 19 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

“You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this Roast for a while,” said Sheen.  “It’s time to light it up.  It’s going to be epic.”

The true hilarity of this whole thing is that the Roast is set to air on the debut night of Ashton Kutcher on CBS’ Two and a Half Men. Coincidence? We absolutely think not. Be sure to catch them (both) on September 19th.

Ashton Kutcher to Replace Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’

by Matt Raub, May 13 2011 // 9:00 AM

In an act that is sure to completely melt Twitter, it looks like Chuck Lorre and CBS Studios have found a replacement for the hard to work with Charlie Sheen, who was fired from Two and a Half Men back in March. That man? Former That 70′s Show star Ashton Kutcher.

The deal is supposedly all done but no official announcement from CBS has yet to appear. However, several sources have all but confirmed it  From THR:

Two sources close to the deal-making tell The Hollywood Reporter that the actor is putting the final touches on a deal to replace Charlie Sheen as the star of TV’s No. 1 comedy. CBS, studio Warner Bros. and Kutcher’s reps at CAA declined to comment on the situation but a deal is said to be all but signed. The exact dollar figure he will be paid is not known but a source says Kutcher is getting a “huge payday” to join the hit sitcom.

The deal came together quickly in the wake of Hugh Grant passing on the opportunity to join the show. Now sources say Men creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio. “It’s really funny,” says one source. “People are going to love it.”

The news comes as barely a surprise and more of an “I can totally see that!” for most fans of either Men or Kutcher’s previous work in the sitcom world. No word on how this will effect Sheen’s current “Torpedoes of Truth” world tour, but you can expect between Kutcher’s 7.6 million Twitter followers and Sheen’s 3.8 million, people will be pushing their 140-character limit over the next few days as the deal is finalized.

Box Office: The ‘A-Team’ Needed a Plan B

by Bob Starr, Jun 14 2010 // 8:00 AM

In absentia of our diligent box office reporter Shannon Hood I’m stepping in to bring you up to speed this week. The top three spots were taken by two remakes and one sequel, the former making me feel like I’d gone through a time warp back to the ’80′s.  It was exciting and a little disconcerting all at the same time.

Taking the top spot was the remake of the 1984 classic The Karate Kid.  For the purists out there you can rest easy knowing the producers did not use the same characters from the original.  While the premise is basically the same Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) have been replaced by Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan). Personally, I thought Jaden Smith was too young to portray the character properly but the audience seemed to disagree with me.

The Karate Kidwent onto make $56 million in its opening weekend.  Given that the budget was $40 million this is certainly decent returns and I have no doubt will lead to a sequel, if not a trilogy.  Way to go Jaden!  Your superstar dad, Will Smith, must be very proud.

Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman Will Be ‘Friends With Benefits’ For Ivan Reitman

by Elisabeth Rappe, Mar 18 2010 // 9:00 AM

When I went to bed last night, lulled by the barrage of television spots for The Bounty Hunter, I had only one thought — the world needs more romantic comedies! I mean, we only have one coming out this weekend! And then we have to wait an entire week for The Last Song! You’re killing me Hollywood.

Thankfully, Ivan Reitman senses the need, and is coming to the rescue.  According to Variety, Reitman will be helming an untitled romantic comedy for Paramount. He’s lured Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher to star, and it already has a release date of January 7, 2011.

Penned by Elizabeth Meriwether, the script has the working title of Friends With Benefits. (If IMDB is to be believed, it had an even raunchier working title that rhymes with Muckmuddies.  I can’t imagine why they had to change that.) The story is being kept secret, but it revolves around how much easier it is to fall into a sexual relationship over something with emotional bonds.

In other words, friends with benefits. Reitman feels this is untapped territory when it comes to the genre of cute people in love.  “It’s an issue ripe for discussion.”

January 7, 2011. The day when Portman, Kutcher, and Reitman became pioneers in the field of cinematic romance. Mark your calenders. History will be made.

Review: ‘Valentine’s Day’

by Shannon Hood, Feb 12 2010 // 1:00 PM

I liked this movie quite a bit  when I first saw it in 2003, and it was called Love, Actually.  This is nothing but a watered down and americanized version of the British movie, and it is mired in mediocrity.  Just think of this as the ugly stepsister of Love, Actually.

Despite a massive ensemble cast (Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacClaine, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Emma Roberts, and George Lopez) the film lacks any real zip, and for a film about Valentine’s Day, it lacks heart. Don’t let all that star power fool you.

There are a myriad of storylines woven throughout the movie, which takes place on Valentine’s Day, in Los Angeles.  Most of the principals are connected to one another in one way or another, and their connections are slowly revealed throughout the movie.  Some of the stories work quite well, and others just don’t work at all.

Ashton Kutcher plays Reed, a florist who proposes to his less than thrilled girlfriend Morley (Jessica Alba.)  His best friend Julia (Jennifer Garner) is giddy over her new boyfriend (Patrick Dempsey), who is actually a two timing married man. Her best friend Kara (Jessica Biel) is the desperate and lonely career girl with no one to spend Valentine’s Day with.
