Back in January we reported on the breaking news that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was coming. Yes, we know it was kind of a no brainer but it was great to see it was actually happening! Now we are proud to bring the first official trailer to the Flickcast faithful.
In the trailer below, check out the first official look at LEGO Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Deadpool and Black Widow who will be amongst the “more than 100 memorable characters to choose from, each with their own unique powers and abilities, players are in for a brick-smashing adventure”. Those actual gameplay isn’t shown, one can assume it will probably be similar in style to that of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. The trailer also gives a pretty good indicator who one of the game’s big bads is going to be.

After the recent sad news with layoffs happening at High Moon Studios following the completion of the Deadpool game which is set for June 25th release for the XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, there was a PR blip that went out late yesterday getting into detail with the Deadpool preorder incentives. Obviously, the team behind the Deadpool PR is still working hard at keeping Deadpool at bay when he gets his hands on their press releases.
Below, you’ll be able to check out the list of presale incentives from GameSpot and Amazon for those who are picking up this Marvel merc at the budget price of $49.99. Make sure to check out all the new screens below as well!
intimidated invited Activision Publishing, Inc. and High Moon Studios to make a video game starring Marvel’s most Marvel-ous character, me. And you being a gamer of unquestionable good taste wish to pre-order that game. Well I say bravo – you deserve some awesome rewards for putting your trust in Deadpool.

Happy Presidents Day Everyone! Or, those of you in the U.S. anyway. For the rest of you, happy Monday. You might find this interesting too.
In honor of the U.S.’s founding fathers (and those that have filled their shoes since) we are going to take a look at some of the most famous Presidential appearances in geek culture.
The Dead Presidents in Deadpool
With the most recent volume of Deadpool coming from Marvel’s “Marvel Now” campaign, Deadpool becomes an unofficial agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. to do the things that the agency needs done but cannot be officially affiliated with. In this first arc, Deadpool finds himself taking on the dead Presidents of the United States.
Not just one or two, but all of them. Teamed up with the ghost of Ben Franklin, the Merc with the Mouth chases down a wheel chair riding zombie FDR, dresses up as Marilyn Monroe for zombie JFK and goes head to head in a MMA ring against zombie Abe Lincoln to stop the dead Presidents under the leadership of zombie George Washington from taking back the USA.

Like much of the news in the gaming world, this bit was broken to everyone through Game Informer. Despite the fact that a print magazine is getting exclusives still amazes us, it is still exciting news none the less. It looks like Traveller’s Tales is already well underway to make the LEGO Marvel franchise a reality with the official announcement of a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game.
Spider-Man. Hawkeye. Wolverine. Hulk. Magneto. Iron Man. Thor. Loki. Deadpool. Magneto. Captain America. From the looks of the early footage from Game Informer behind the scenes at Traveller’s Tales, it looks like this full list will be getting the LEGO treatment. It is worth noting that all these guys have already had LEGO figures made and there is potential for hundreds more Marvel characters to be brought into this brick world.

As of this moment, the PR on Deadpool may be the most fun of any comic book game for any journalist to cover. Instead of the same standard PR blips from developers or agencies, Deadpool (or someone who is doing a heck of a job impersonating him) is doing his own promotions for the game. With the Deadpool movie in development hell, it only makes sense that the poor guy would have the free time to handle gaming PR.
Most recently, Deadpool announced that he would be including Domino of X-Force fame in his upcoming Mature rated game. The two characters are quite familiar with each other, both being long time associates to both Wolverine and Cable, as well as both being members of recent incarnations of X-Force together at one time. And with Deadpool being (a self described) ladies man, it only makes sense that he would invite one of the finest pieces of Marvel comic booty into his game.

Since the abomination that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, word has been that a Deadpool movie would be on its way. Since Wade Wilson’s appearance at the beginning of the movie was pretty much the only salvageable part of the film (and we can all just pretend that everything at the end didn’t happen), it does make sense to bring Ryan Reynolds back to take on the role. In current Marvel continuity, Deadpool has lost his healing factor which means the scars that cover his face are gone and he can appear as a normal person.
This is a huge asset to any film with a known actor taking on the headline role as it gives legitimacy to him being seen without the full costume on at all times. Frankly, no one was really looking forward to seeing the fully scared up Deadpool face on screen when the mask came off anyway. But in some ways the actor portraying Deadpool is low on the list of concerns in regard to what is needed to make this character actually work for a full feature length film.
One of the most challenging aspects of Deadpool is going to be his inner dialogue that goes on between Wade and the two insane voices in his head. One reason it works so well in comics is the visual cue. Deadpool has his own distinctive speech bubble and each of the two voices has their own design to their respective caption box as well. Even when ‘Pool is talking under a mask, it is easily identifiable which of the three is talking. The problem that appears in a movie is that when the film is in motion and Deadpool is talking under a mask, it is going to be a challenge to identify three different voices on screen.

At Comic-Con in San Diego, we got the news that Deadpool would finally be getting his own game. After making cameos and having supporting roles in titles like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 or Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the cult favorite is on the verge of mainstream success (if the movie ever gets made). Now, Deadpool is getting the opportunity to further break his way into the average American household.
High Moon Studios, most recently gaining recognition working on the Transformers franchise, have shown an understanding for licensed properties both in visual style and in capturing the voice of a character. While Deadpool’s visuals may be pretty standard comics action, his voice is anything but. Having to work with a character that has a voice separate from an inner dialogue that he communicates with all while breaking the 4th wall is no short challenge. Only some of the best comics writers have been able to nail this but hearing that Daniel Way is going to be working with High Moon on the game gives us tons of faith.
Now normally, we’d never just copy and paste a fact sheet but when the PR company makes this much effort to make it entertaining, it’d be a shame not to share it with the Flickcast audience.
Check out the screens just released from Gamescom and the full fact sheet after the break. Keep tuned to The Flickcast for more on Deadpool and his upcoming release from Activision and High Moon Studios.

Right at the start of Comic Con we reported on a rumor that the next game coming from Activision was going to be the Hit Monkey game. While we were all hoping from our Flickcast offices (a.k.a. our San Diego hotel rooms) that this rumor would come to be false, nothing surprises us anymore and if Hit Monkey was on its way, we would have dealt with it.
Luckily during Saturday’s Marvel gaming panel, everything changed. Instead of getting a monkey with guns, we got the Merc with the Mouth. Deadpool is coming to consoles in the aptly titled Deadpool: The Game. Seemingly voiced by the same actor who took on Deadpool’s role during Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Deadpool will be joined by the inner dialogue that plagues his insanity ridden life in the comics.
This game also looks like it will follow the trend of recent mature comic book games like Batman: Arkham City or Wolverine: Origins where “s**t gets real.” This isn’t a happy-go-lucky web-slinger cracking jokes and tying up bad guys for the cops to come get them. This is going to be a guns blazing and head chopping lunatic making jokes that are not safe for the office.

Sneakers are a big deal, a person’s shoes say a lot about them and quality sneakers are a bold statement. Up until now the sneaker world has pretty much been the realm of sports stars, with a couple tiny detours into general entertainment.
Now Reebok is looking for another brand of recognizable heroes to draw their foot apparel inspiration, Marvel Super Heroes. As opposed to the comic themes chucks we have seen in the past, these shoes draw inspiration from specific characters but don’t have specific comic imagery all over them. In fact, only the Captain America pair, with the giant A on the front, come across as immediately comic book based.
Eight total pairs have been announced thus far, with the shoes representing Captain America, Wolverine, Black Widow, Emma Frost, Deadpool, Sabertooth, Chamber, and the Red Skull. All of the shoes also seem to be in a range of styles, which will hopefully broaden the appeal of the sneakers and make the set more popular.
Aside from these eight, Marvel.com also alludes to a Spider-Man themed pair as well that should be announced sooner rather than later. The shoes will be released in waves, with the first sneakers based on Black Widow and Emma Frost available this July.
Take a look at a full gallery of the shoes after the jump.

We know a good internet video trend when we see one. Since the turn of the new year, the new one seems to be taking a satirical (and 100% accurate) look at specific things that a group of people tend to say adnauseum.
Whether it’s Girls, Broke People, Blind People, or even White Girls, the trend is absolutely at an all-time high right now. With that, where is the cracks on people like us? The NERDS?
That’s where Jawiin on YouTube comes in. Daylighting as our very own comic reviewer Jason Inman, Jaawin put together this little tribute to the “sh*t people say” trend by bringing it home for the comic book fans.
So if you’ve ever been in a comic store, convention, or even know someone who’s a dedicated comic fan, this video will certainly apply to you. Check it out after the jump.

As always, one of our favorite parts of any convention is the sights and NYCC was full of them this year so we had to share them with the Flickcast audience. The level of dedication by the men and women who attend the con every year is staggering.
Some are picture perfect renditions that rival movie quality costumes like the Anakin Skywalker we saw wandering the floor. Others come from careful collection of legitimate television costumes and props like the classic Power Rangers Green Ranger. Still others take their own imagination and run wild with custom Mandalorian battle armor for both human and giant chicken alike to life sized Castle Crashers.
One of the things this gallery sadly doesn’t do justice is give an idea on just how huge NYCC was this year. Though it is yet to overtake the surrounding neighborhood like SDCC does, the New York Comic Con feels every bit as big and as important as its west coast counterpart.
The entire Javitts Center was filled with every major comic company to movie studios and video game publishers in every corner. This year the Flickcast was only able to spend a day on the Con floor but if things keep looking up for NYCC, we may have to tackle this show the same way we do San Diego Comic Con or E3.
Take a look below to get just a glimpse of the many sights at this year’s convention. See you next year New York!
