Obviously, we’re big fans of Battlestar Galactica around here. It was a great show that, at least in our opinion, went away too soon. We’re also fans of the pioneering band The Beastie Boys and have always thought these two things should come together somehow and if they did, the results would be awesome.
Well, our wish has been granted because an enterprising person out there in the world (aka YouTube user katamaran78) has decided that it should be so and has created a cool video combining BSG with The Beastie Boys mega hit “Sabotage.” The result is very cool and very entertaining and in every way as awesome as we thought it would be.
Sadly, as good as the video is, it does remind us once again how much we miss BSG. Fortunately, we’ve always got Caprica to dull the pain. Check out the video after the jump.

With many of the female Battlestar Galactica alumni like Katee Sackhoff, Grace Park and Tricia Helfer making deals to appear in other tv series, it was only a matter of time before more of the men did as well. Today, Syfy announced that James Callis, perhaps best known as Dr. Gaius Baltar on BSG, has joined the cast of Syfy’s original series Eureka.
On the show, Callis will play Dr. Grant, a scientist and former resident of Eureka whose unexpected return is cause for serious alarm. Plus, his romantic romantic interest in Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) also causes significant friction with Sherriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson).
This is great news for fans of Callis and BSG. Seeing some of your favorite actors from the show get new roles on good shows is always a welcome development. Now if we can just get that sitcom starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnel off the ground we’ll really be set.
Production on season 4 of Eureka begins March 18th with all new episodes beginning to air on Syfy on July 9.

Dear 24:
When we first met in 2001, you were perfect for me. You were exciting, and dangerous, and knew how to show a lady a good time. But lately, the relationship has lost its luster. I know that this is the natural progression of any relationship, you can’t possibly keep up that same level of intrigue for all these years. After the seven year itch, I settled into a comfort with your familiarity. I looked forward to spending time with you every Monday night.
But you just had to go and ruin things with all these other women. Rene and Dana ring a bell? Heck, I’ve even got a bone to pick with Chloe this season. I can’t deal with all these other women, and here is why I quit you, mid-episode last Monday, for good. Spoilers abound, so proceed with caution.
Sad/Bad/Mad Rene. Actually I really like Rene, and I adore Annie Wersching in the role, but there are so many inconsistencies with her character this season, and her spunk has been replaced with this misguided self–loathing. Quite frankly, making Rene’s character into such a drag has really been a drag on the show.
I also can’t quite figure out the chronology of Rene’s storyline, which is really not helping the credibility of her story arc. Readers, perhaps you can enlighten me here. Weren’t we told that six years ago Rene went undercover with the Russian gang? Wouldn’t that make it pre-season 7, in which she was still in uptight prissy mode? Since President Allison Taylor is still in office, I am assuming this season did not skip forward 10 years because of Presidential term limits.

Last week, Fox aired a special 2-night, four hour premiere of the eighth season of 24 to record ratings, and a groundbreaking plot that will keep us enthralled for most of this season. Now it seems things are heating up even more for for Jack Bauer and the CTU team.
Tonight will be hours 8PM to 9PM, which is already the fifth episode of the season. Now that Jack and CTU are based in New York City, things are already getting intense for the East coast. From Fox:
Four explosive hours after being unwillingly drawn back into action, Jack Bauer reteams with a risky Renee Walker to track some very dangerous leads. Meanwhile, back at CTU, a desperate Dana Walsh faces tense and untimely circumstances, and emotions escalate when President Taylor learns of a larger looming threat that jeopardizes the peace accord with President Hassan.
Check out four brand new clips from tonight’s episode, and be sure to catch the episode “8:00pm-9:00pm” of 24, tonight on Fox.

We’re all pretty excited about the upcoming 8th season of Fox’s 24 next Sunday. We broke the very first trailer back in October, took you behind the scenes earlier this week, and now we’ve got some more goodies to get you excited for Jack Bauer and his upcoming adventures.
A few new clips have recently become available, showing off mostly Keifer Sutherland as Bauer, transporting an informant that may have details on an upcoming assassination attempt. Fans of FX’s The Shield may recognize Jack’s informant, as well.
There aren’t many details about how this season’s “day” will unfold, but we do know that Jack has retired; Kim has a daughter; They both live in New York City, and CTU has been completely revamped, with the addition of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff to the team.
Check out the clips after the jump, and catch the action as the eighth season of 24 kicks off on January 17, only on FOX.

We’ve already talked about January being a big month for Fox with Human Target starting up in a few weeks, and American Idol following shortly thereafter. One huge factor in Fox’s potential ratings success this season will be the return of 24 for it’s eighth and possibly final season.
This season takes place in New York City, which is a first, with Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) just about to get cozy for a life of retirement. Just as that happens, he gets a new mission dropped in his lap, with very little room to continue his life of leisure.
This season promises to have exciting new character archs, including new cast members Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica). A few new surprises, and plenty of Jack Bauer beating up on terrorists.
Check out an all-new behind the scenes featurette on the new season after the jump, and be sure to catch the season premiere of 24 on Sunday, January 17th.

Katee Sackhoff will join the long line of celebrities that are taking a stab at comic books, a medium that Hollywood seems to be more in love with than “traditional” literature. Along with Rosario Dawson, Tyrese Gibson and Rashida Jones, Sackhoff will be teaming up with a co-writer named Sxv’leithan Essex on a comic book called Versus, which in a recent interview with TV Guide Magazine, she said would be announced at next year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
In the interview, Sackhoff also explained her love for much of Jeph Loeb’s comic work, and in particular just about everything he’s done with Superman. Sackhoff didn’t have much to say about a publisher, artist, or when we could expect to see the book hit shelves, but she assured that all will be revealed next year in San Diego.
Sackhoff, who most famously played Starbuck on the reboot of the Sci-Fi Channel series, Battlestar Galactica, will be appearing in the upcoming season of 24. Her co-writer, Sxv’leithan Essex, has a couple of credits to his name including a horror film called Bled, a series of Metal music videos, and an upcoming werewolf fight club film titled Growl.

I suppose I should disclose a couple things about me, in particular, writing this article. The first is that I haven’t watched the last couple seasons of 24. Furthermore, for all the fanfare the show gets, it prescribes to the same cookie cutter formula every season. That’s why I dubbed the show “twenty-formulaic.” Every season is just as good as the last; which basically means the series has been exactly the same since season two. Oh, I can just hear angry 24 fans starting to write emails to me.
The second point is that I’m still pretty angry from the laughable conclusion to Battlestar Galactica. Yes, I’m one of those guys who thought Ron Moore and company pretty much gave up trying to provide logical closure to the show in favor of whatever you want to call that mess that was the end of the show. Again, I can hear you typing.
Now, even with those points noted there’s nothing to say I can’t provide a very objective take on Katee Sackhoff’s new gig on 24. Alright, maybe not the most objective but I’ll give it my all. Which is to say, I’ll limit my ranting because I could go on forever.
While there was a lot of unnecessary controversy about Sackhoff playing Starbuck on the new BSG (a role originally played by clearly all-man Dirk Benedict) I thought she did a great job with the character. Even when the story got derailed some Sackhoff was faithful to her role, even if she herself wasn’t sure what she was. This is clearly evident in the somewhat labored explanation she provides to the show’s end:
“So when she at the end was saying goodbye to [Anders], I think that she was saying goodbye to their bodily forms,” she said. “I think she knew, especially if he says, ‘I’ll see you on the other side,’ I think she’s with him. I think they’re both dead, but I think she’s with him.
That was a decision that we made, because I selfishly wanted her at peace, and the only way to do that was to have her with someone at the end, or to be with the person she wanted to be with. I don’t know. That’s kind of where I think she is. She’s with Michael Trucco playing pyramid in the sky somewhere.”
Now, count the number of times she says “I think” in that explanation. Yes, six times. That’s a whole lot of guess work for a show highlighting antagonists who we were told very specifically had a plan from the very beginning Whoops, I said I wouldn’t rant didn’t I?

Among its many virtues (and believe me, there were many) Battlestar Galactica had a terrific bunch of actors in it. Because of their high quality, its should really be no surprise that many of them, including Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer to name a few, have gone on to do more work in TV and look to have long careers ahead of them. To that list we can add one more name: Michael Trucco.
Trucco, along with How I Met Your Mother co-star Virginia Williams, are set to star opposite Sarah Shahi (last seen on of one of my favorite recent shows Life) in the upcoming USA drama pilot Facing Kate. The show, in case you’re not familiar, concerns a divorced San Francisco woman (Shahi) who leaves her job as a lawyer to become a mediator following the death of her father, who headed a law firm.
Trucco will play Kate’s ex-husband, who’s also an attorney, a charmer, and who, surprise surprise, still has feelings for her. Williams will play Kate’s “obsessive and controlling younger stepmother who is determined to keep her husband’s firm.” Could be interesting. And really, who doesn’t want to see Anders in more shows? I know I do. He’s cool.

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows that has crept up on many fans and become one of the most watched TV sitcoms on the air today. The show managed to take a simple premise (nerdy boy falls in love with neighbor while even nerdier best friend gets into weekly antics) and turn it into something that has been quite entertaining for 3 seasons.
We’ve just gotten a few new clips from an upcoming November episode entitled “The Cornhusker Vortex” in which Leonard wishes to take part in Penny’s football party, but becomes more of a burden than a guest.
Not only has the CBS comedy had fan favorite Wil Wheaton on as a guest star, they will also have Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff making a cameo in an episode later this season as….Katee Sackhoff.
Check out the four clips after the jump. Be sure to catch The Big Bang Theory on CBS Mondays at 9:30pm/8:30pm Central.
