This week on The Flickcast Chris and Matt are on duty and discussing, dissecting and, in some cases, dissing some new movies, TV shows, comics, games and geek stuff. Among the topics this week are more on The Walking Dead, the debut of Conan’s new talk show, upcoming films Skyline and Friends with Benefits, George Lucas and the new Force Unleashed II video game, the Back to the Future Trilogy on Blu-ray and the bizarreness of Robert Altman’s 1980 film Popeye.
Of course, the guys also made new picks for your enjoyment this week including Matt’s pick of the drama spoof Fatal Instinct, featuring Armand Assante and Sherylin Fenn, and Chris’ double pick of Call of Duty: Black Ops and the upcoming Skyline, which hits theaters this Friday.

Welcome to this week’s On the Radar where we delve into all corners of the entertainment, tech and geek Internets for news, views and whatnot that may have escaped our regular coverage this week. Let is know if we missed something interesting. Otherwise, on to the links!
Jimmy Kimmel brings us a phenomenon of pop icons clashing in The Jersey Shore Saga: Friggin’ Twilight.
We’ve been to Comic-Con, so our standards for costumes are pretty high. This General Grevious costume still takes the cake.
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone Magazine has seen Inception, and he says you’ll love it.
The Food Network can be pretty boring for non-foodies, but unnecessarily censoring parts of it can make it fun in a whole new way.
Megan Fox is campaigning to play Rainmaker in a Gen 13 movie. Considering how Jonah Hex went, shouldn’t she just stop?
The world of independent film keeps growing in quality and professionalism, and the newest film The 3rd Letter is proof of just that.
What if Nintendo made Halo 3? Only hilarity, that’s what.
In other Twilight news, Robert Pattinson is allegedly a descendant of Dracula. With that brow, our first guess would’ve been Frankenstein’s Monster.

This week more than one thing involving Conan seems to be getting settled. Yesterday, we told you about Conan O’Brien making a deal with NBC to step away from The Tonight Show. Now, word comes from Deadline Hollywood that Millennium Films, Lionsgate and Paradox Entertainment have chosen an actor to take on the role of Conan the Barbarian in their brand new Conan movie — and that actor is Jason Momoa.
Momoa, who has appeared in Stargate Atlantis and also stars in HBO’s Game of Thrones, reportedly beat Kellan Lutz of Twilight fame for chance to play the titular hero. Apparently, Conan director Marcus Nispel was sold on Momoa, and won over the filmmakers by shooting some test scenes that allowed Momoa to wield a sword and behave very “Schwarzenegger-like.”
The film, which re-boots the Conan franchise and tells the origin of Robert E. Howard’s famous character, is now on course for a March 15 production start in Bulgaria. No word yet on additional casting or a release date but we have heard that producers have reached out to Mickey Rourke to play Conan’s father in the film. More on that as it develops.

Yes folks, it’s that time again here at The Flickcast. Recap time. In this edition we’ve got clips and previews for some of NBC’s shows including Mercy and the soon to be on his own Conan O’Brien from The Tonight Show. First up on Mercy, Veronica’s patient last night was an interesting one and didn’t look all that bad for a man who wakes up from a ten year coma.
Next, Conan had some pretty good guests on his show last night and the love fest continued. The very funny Adam Sandler and Community’s Joel McHale stopped by. Joel even made a very generous offer – to let Conan host his show The Soup.
He wasn’t the only NBC actor to support Conan as Ed Helms of The Office also stopped in (and brought his piano) for a quick song: a remix of his song from The Hangover with lyrics just for Conan. Oh, and apparently some sort of Masturbating Bear was also there.
Check out all the video clips after the jump.

Even though it seemed Conan O’Brien was getting kinda shafted by his corporate masters at NBC, it looks now like he’ll at least come out ok in one area: a big settlement. According to Yahoo News, NBC is confirming that they have reached a deal with Conan O’Brien and the check has quite a few digits on it.
According to the terms of the deal, Conan’s last show will be this Friday night and NBC has agreed to pay Conan and his staff $45 Million for their troubles. $32.5 Million will go to Conan himself while the rest of the money goes to his staff, most of whom moved to Los Angeles from New York with Conan to do the show.
Obviously, they thought the show would last longer than 7 months so it made sense to move to LA. That’s what they get for thinking, right? It’s also being reported elsewhere that as part of the terms of the deal Conan is allowed to take very few elements of the show with him should he choose to go to another network. Let’s just hope the Masturbating Bear is one of them he can take.
Jay Leno returns to The Tonight Show on March 1.

This week on The Flickcast, Chris and Matt are again joined by Elisabeth Rappe and, as usual, launch into discussions of various topics including Twilight’s vampire baby, that Breaking Dawn may be unfilmable, Conan O’Brian, Jay Leno and NBC and the Spider-Man reboot. They also discuss Stuart Townsend leaving Thor, the casting of Blake Lively in Green Lantern, who should play Sinestro in Green Lantern and a whole lot more.
The trio also made some new picks this week including Matt’s pick of Aziz Ansari’s standup video Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening, Elisabeth’s pick of Lesbian Vampire Killers and Chris’ pick of Katherine Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker, which is new on Blu-ray this week and also one of Chris’ top ten films of 2009.

Last night on The Tonight Show, Conan O’ Brian aired a couple clips to pay his respects to the late, great Ed McMahon who died yesterday at the age of 86. Among the great moment he showcased were several clips of Mc Mahon and Carson together, a clip of McMahon visiting Conan and his co-host Andy Richter to play a little game of quarters and Conan and Andy talked a bit about McMahon’s great comic timing.
The clips showcase what a talented and consumate professional McMahon really was and how much Conan and Richter owe to the classic comedic duo of Carson and McMahon that came before them. Check out the clips after the jump.
