Some of you may remember a little company called Bungie that, back in the day, made cool games for the Mac like Marathon and Myth. As time went on they sold themselves to Microsoft and their Mac games kinda went away in favor of new games for the XBox and other consoles.
You may have heard of one of the games they created for the XBox during that time. It’s called Halo.
Anyway, in 2007 Bungie split from Microsoft and went on its own again. Since then they’ve made some new games and are now set to launch a brand new title we think looks pretty cool: Destiny.
There’s a new trailer for the game. Check it out after the break. Welcome back Bungie.

If Halo, Borderlands and Star Wars had a random drunken blue milk induced menage trois, Destiny would be its baby. At E3 we got a first look at the gameplay of Destiny. After the “Law of the Jungle” trailer got me to care about the story, I couldn’t wait to see how the game looked in action. It doesn’t matter if the game is on the PlayStation 4 or XBox One, it looks beautiful. But what stood out the most was that there actually looks to be some real variety to the world as it isn’t just another corridor shooter.
A combination of team based shooter combined with force powers and speeder bikes in drop in events is a pretty epic task but if anyone can pull it off, it’d be the team over at Bungie who has proven themselves to be masters of building worlds and multiplayer experiences. The drop in interaction seemed to run seemlessly, even on stage at E3 where some games had their share of glitches. Given the time to polish it before release, Destiny looks like it can be one of the game that delivers on both its promises and expectations of its audience.

It looks like Sony has found its Call of Duty slayer to compete with the XBox’s domination of the shooter genre. Interestingly enough, it is coming from Activision. You know, the publishers of Call of Duty. Back at the PS4 reveal, Destiny was shown. In this latest trailer which will hit broadcast Saturday night, May 25th on TNT during Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals that you can check out below, they announce that the first look at Destiny gameplay will take place at the Sony E3 conference.
So even though Destiny will be coming out on the XBox 360 and XBox One, it will be featured at the Sony press conference meaning there is no doubt some timed exclusivity deal with Destiny content coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, since that is how Activision rolls.
I will say of what I have seen so far from Destiny, this is the first time the Destiny trailer has actually gotten me excited. There was some form of context to what was happening and the characters for the first time felt interesting. While this is still a CGI cutscene, it is still a gorgeous world in Destiny with both the blackness of space and the harsh and cruel desert. Plus, there are speeder bikes.

When the creators of the top XBox exclusive Halo franchise teams up with the publishing behemoth behind the Call of Duty franchise, at least on paper it is a recipe for success. After months of only hearing the project’s name Destiny, Bungie was finally ready to reveal just what it was during an event this weekend.
Below check out the first developer diary featuring the first concept art for Destiny. After spending a decade with Halo, Bungie looks to spend the next ten years working on Destiny. In the trailer, you’ll hear the start of the Destiny mythos. Unlike Halo where mankind was fighting back against an invading force, Destiny takes place in the aftermath of an invading force. Saved only by a figure known as the Traveler, the remnants of humanity struggle to survive.
