Putting the movie aside, the character of Daredevil is still one of the most dynamic in comics. And hey, we don’t really blame Ben Affleck for all of the movie’s problems. He didn’t work alone.
Fortunately, the comics are still cool and now there’s a brand new one featuring the “Man Without Fear” hitting stores soon. Written by Mark Waid with art by Chris Samnee Daredevil #1 looks to be a fine reintroduction of the character to readers.
Here’s more from Marvel:
Gifted with an imperceptible radar sense, blind lawyer Matt Murdock patrols the streets with a Billy club and a passion for justice. Only this time – it’s a brand new city, with even more dangerous foes. Join Matt Murdock as he journeys from the dark streets of Hell’s Kitchen to the sun-drenched boulevards of San Francisco.
And the scenery isn’t the only new thing in store for Ol’ Hornhead. A world of changes are in store for Matt Murdock as old haunts and familiar faces rise up to give the devil his due. Changes that will turn his life upside down yet again!
Look for Daredevil #1 to hit stores on March 19. Check out the preview pages after the break.

Even though the big screen adaptation of Marvel’s Daredevil left, well, something to be desired, that doesn’t mean the comic book version isn’t worth a look and worth continuing. Obviously, Marvel must think so too as they’re about to debut a brand new series featuring the character.
Naturally, we’ve got previews for that comic’s first issue to bring you today. From writer Mark Waid and artists Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin comes the new journey of Daredevil.
“This journey begins as he retakes the alleys and rooftops of New York City with monumental life changes, new enemies, new friends and a new role in the Marvel Universe. Billy club in hand, Matt Murdock must tackle his greatest challenges yet, but will he be welcomed back to New York with open arms? Who will stand in his way and can Daredevil be trusted?”
Check out the preview pages where else, after the break. Daredevil #1 hits store shelves on July 7th.

The rule is to “never say never” in the comic book world. When a writer or publisher vows that they’re killing off a character, never to bring them back, 9 out of 10 times they end up resurrecting him. Same goes for storyline stunts.
Back in 1996, in a ploy to pull themselves up from bankruptcy, Marvel revealed a new cross-universe villain called Onslaught, created by Mark Waid, Andy Kubert, and Scott Lobdell. The books were filled with continuity holes and plot devices meant to engage even the most causal reader. The end result left a bunch of fans alienated, and hardly any newcomers to show for the work.
Now, with the help of Heroes Reborn artist Rob Liefeld, Onslaught Unleashed is making it’s way to shelves this February, with a brand new storyline that takes place in an alternate universe, and promises not to “shake things up” with the normal universe like the last one.
In getting ready for the release, Marvel has unveiled two new variant covers for the book, by Liefeld himself. Check out the full sized covers after the jump, and be sure to pick up Onslaught Unleashed on shelves this February.

I’ve always loved history. Discovering what happened in the past is always a great way to make sure things go smoothly in the present and in the future. I also love comics. So, when these two things meet, you can imagine how happy that makes me.
Case in point is the new documentary about the history of DC comics called Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics. In it you get to see a whole bunch of great current and former DC artists and writers discuss the formation and history of one of the greatest media companies ever. Narrated by Ryan Reynolds, the documentary features interviews and commentary by Neal Adams, Karen Berger, Dan DiDio, Neil Gaiman, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Dwayne McDuffie, Grant Morrison, Dennis O’Neil, Paul Pope, Louise Simonson, Mark Waid, Len Wein, and Marv Wolfman. Yes, that’s lot of amazing people.
“From the bans to the breakthroughs, from humble pulp beginnings to the literary rise of the graphic novel, the story of DC Comics holds a mirror to an ever-evolving enterprise and the society reflected in its comic book pages,” said Diane Nelson, President, DC Entertainment. “It’s a true American story – Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics is a riveting, exciting, surprising revelation of that fascinating history and the men and women who forged it.”
I’ll bet money that that’s completely true. In fact, no bet necessary, I’ll be buying this when it comes out because I know it’s going to be fascinating.
Check out the trailer for the documentary after the jump. Secret Origin arrives on DVD November 9th.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! An incredibly solid week as we’ve got three Blackest Night tie-ins, some speedster action and a particularly “horrible” tale, but only one issue each week tops the “list.” Be sure to let us know what you thought of these issues, we’re always interested to hear from you, the readers. As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
Dark Reign: The List – Amazing Spider-Man One-Shot – Marvel Comics – $3.99 US
Writer: Dan Slott
Artist: Adam Kubert
Score: 9.5
Norman Osborn made a list and he’s checking it more than twice as certain thorns in his side have gotten his full attention. Everyone from the X-Men to the Avengers have had to deal with him, and by now you’ve heard of how the Punisher went to pieces over his clash with the H.A.M.M.E.R. Director, so how will Spider-Man do? Hint: Spidey doesn’t win this one.
I’ll start with Dan Slott’s writing in this issue, and simply state that he crushed it. There’s no other way to say it, really. Sure, an argument could be made that Spidey should have done something by now, especially considering his history with Stormin’ Norman. Put that aside, if you ever wanted to see Peter Parker triumph at anything – he’s had a ridiculously long losing streak since “Brand New Day” – then this is the issue for you.
It’s been a few months since artist Adam Kubert penciled some pages, but with that amount of lead-time you knew this issue would be stunning. He failed to disappoint. Crammed with gorgeous visuals, the entire one-shot was a treat, even when the action had decidedly died down for the last act. One look at the very first page is all you need to know in regards to how good the art is.
