That’s right, it’s time for an all-new episode of The Flickcast! Finally, right? We had some issues last week but we think we’ve got ’em sorted out now. Well, at least the ones having to do with the podcast anyway. What are you gonna do, right?
On this week’s episode Chris and Joe jump into the new Fall TV season and discuss some of the shows they’re looking forward to seeing (and some they’re not). The shows you should probably check out include Blindspot, Minority Report, Supergirl, Ash vs. Evil Dead, Con Man, The Man In The High Castle and The Muppets. Shows you should probably avoid include Quantico, Life In Pieces, Heroes Reborn and The Bastard Executioner. There’s also quite a bit of talk about how great the show Longmire is. In fact …
Picks this week are unanimous in that both Chris and Joe pick the 4th season of Longmire, which recently arrived on Netflix. How’s that for consensus?

Another week already? Yes indeed. So you know what that means? A brand new episode of The Flickcast is here. As usual, no need to thank us. We do it for the love.
On this week’s show, Chris and Joe talk about a whole bunch of stuff including the new Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue 1, the Force Awakens prequel comic, HBO Now, the Apple Watch, Con Man with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, how much Disney likes money, and much, much more. It’s a big episode so be prepared!
Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the classic animated series Star Blazers and Joe’s pick of the album Please Come Home by Lonely Robot.

Yes, we like a challenge. So much so, in fact, that we often wait until the very last minute to get the show recorded, edited and released for all to enjoy. That’s just the nature of things and it makes life a bit more interesting. Well, we think so anyway.
Which brings us to now and this brand new episode of The Flickcast. You kinda figure that out, huh?
On this week’s show Chris and Joe dive in and talk all-things Star Wars including Harrison Ford’s health problems, schedule issues, celebrity cameos and more. They also talk about the season finale of Game of Thrones, Back to the Future, Nathan Fillion’s superhero prospects and the state of modern entertainment “journalism.” Hint: It sucks. Mostly.
Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the movie The Machine and Joe’s pick of a beer called Rocket Dog IPA from the folks at Laughing Dog Brewery.

In the shiniest news this side of Persephone, Fox Digital Entertainment and QMx Interactive Inc. have announced the development of the officially licensed video game, Firefly Online. The multi-user, social online role-playing game is expected to be released in the summer of 2014.
“At QMx, we know firsthand how great and powerful a franchise Firefly is and how mighty the Browncoats are,” said Andy Gore, CEO of QMXi and Quantum Mechanix Inc. “It has always been our mission to bring the Verse to life for our customers in every way possible. The idea of creating an interactive experience where fans can have their own Firefly adventures — well, that’s just too shiny for words.”
Firefly Online puts players in the role of a ship captain where they must, as Captain Mal says, “Find a crew. Find a job. Keep flying.” Players will have the ability to customize their ship, create a crew, trade with and compete against other players, engage in space and planet-side adventures and explore the Verse. The only question left for players is, can any power in Verse stop you?

After opening in select theaters in LA, NY, and San Francisco, director Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing will open nationwide on Friday, June 21. We have already reviewed the film but just in case that wasn’t enough to convince you to seek out this delightful adaptation, here are five reasons Much Ado is worth your time and money.
1. You’ll understand Shakespeare (finally). If you are hesitating about Much Ado because you are concerned you will not keep up with the Bard’s prose, you are not alone. Dogberry himself (Nathan Fillion) at first refused the project and then tried to back out of it for this very reason. But then Fillion, like all of the other players, immersed himself in the language, the setting, and the character.
The cast did the hard work of studying the text and translating it so you don’t have to. They do an excellent job of adding movement and clarity to Shakespeare’s prose so even if you don’t know what someone is saying, you know what they mean.

Much Ado About Nothing is Joss Whedon and William Shakespeare at their finest, and is certainly one of the most delightful films I have seen this year. Evoking the very best of a 40s screwball comedy, the entirely black-and-white picture has a superb mix of elegance and entertainment that will please all moviegoers, not just Elizabethan (and Whedon) fans. The film crackles with a palpable energy that draws you in to its hijinks and effortlessly makes you feel a part of the romance and drama.
From the start it is clear that this is not a typical modernization of Shakespeare. Whedon uses silence and body language to great effect so that we know the disappointing and hurtful past that lingers over the sharp-tongued Beatrice (Amy Acker) and smug Benedict (Alexis Denisof) before either even speaks. In truth the pair is too stubborn and snarky to admit any fondness for each other and so their friends conspire to bring them into “a mountain of affection.”
This witty, simmering love is contrasted by the young, innocent love shared by Hero (Jillian Morgese) and Claudio (Fran Kranz). Their impending nuptials are threatened by the villainous Don John (Sean Maher), who is played with the perfect blend of treachery and sexiness by Maher. Don John wants to wound the lovers but also destroy Hero’s father Leonato (Clark Gregg), who is hosting everyone at his manor home.

Do you remember the lead up to John Carter? How most people had a big problem with the marketing but many held a faint glimmer of hope that remained until the first reel ran in theaters opening weekend. Yeah, World War Z wishes it was generating that kind of reaction.
Basically, all of the worst parts of the bible would be an upgrade over the current approval rating of the upcoming PG-13 zombie epic. The stench of the film has been brewing for years, delays and behind the scenes instability have not provided any faith of a good adaptation of a book that is already hard to envision in cinemas. The problem is the structure of the book, it is an oral history not a linear narrative, and no one understands how a Brad Pitt saves the world film was the best that could be done.
So consensus is the film will be a terrible, no good, very bad adaptation and the best we are hoping for is a fun diversion wearing a WWZ pelt for warmth. Of course this leads to all the bitching and moaning about how the film’s existence is an affront to the loyal book fans who deserve better. Well cool your jets book worms and hipster wanna bes, there is a silver lining to this story and it alone more than justifies the looming horror of the upcoming film.

Years before geek god Joss Whedon gave up his vacation to film his version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, he held readings of the Bard’s plays at his house. The couple that read as Much Ado’s stubborn lovers, Beatrice and Benedict? Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof.
Now they are taking those backyard readings to the big screen as two of the stars of Whedon’s highly anticipated film. Exclusive clips shown as WonderCon 2013 have provided further insight into what audiences can expect from this black and white Much Ado that was shot in two weeks at Whedon’s home.
The plot is very much a commentary on romantic love and the expectations that are pushed onto single persons and couples. Beatrice and Benedict along with young-love couple, Hero (Jillian Morgese) and Claudio (Fran Kranz), are at the center of story. The first pair enjoy a relationship based on sarcastic, teasing banter while both proclaim their disdain for love/marriage. The young couple though is enraptured with one another and become a focal point for the wicked doings of antagonist Don John (Sean Maher).

Yes, it may seem like a rather cumbersome title for a comic/graphic novel, but Marvel’s upcoming Castle: Richard Castle’s Storm Season still looks pretty cool.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue Deconick with art by Emanuela Lupacchino, the hardcover graphic novel is based on the best-selling novel by Richard Castle. Here’s more from Marvel:
In this “adaptation” of Derrick Storm’s second novel, the private investigator is hired to find a missing a woman—but what should have been a routine mission quickly spirals out of control when Storm overhears the woman’s terrifying scream on the wire. Plagued by the victim’s helpless cry, Storm—despite an ominous warning—investigates. Soon, he’ll discover an international conspiracy reaching further than he ever imagined—and perhaps the truth about Clara Strike, a CIA agent the world thinks is dead.
Look for Castle: Richard Castle’s Storm Season to hit comic shops, the Marvel Comics app, iBookstore, the Nook Bookstore and more on October 15th. Check out some preview pages after the break.

It’s that time of year when thoughts turn to network schedules. This time around it’s ABC, which released its full Fall 2012 schedule this week.
The network is taking no prisoners this year and boldly launching 10 new series including 666 Park Avenue, The Family Tools, How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life), Last Resort, Malibu Country, Mistresses, Nashville, The Neighbors, Red Widow and Zero Hour. Five of the new series will bow in the fall, the rest in midseason.
Hey, we’re just happy Castle and Happy Endings are coming back. As for the new shows, we will have to wait and see. No point getting invested now, especially these days when networks kill shows after only a few episodes.

This video really needs no setup. However, in the interest of helping to spread the word about filmmaker Ben Shelton and his work with actor Tim Daly and his son Sam, here’s a bit of it anyway.
This video is the seventh episode of the occasional series The Daly Show, which features Daly and his son living their lives and having misadventures around Los Angeles. It should not be confused with The Daily Show with John Stewart, although both are funny but one has Time Daly and the other has John . . . well, you get the idea.
In this particular episode, we’re treated to guest appearances by Nathan Fillion and Michael Rosenbabum who, in their own way, try to help the somewhat “troubled” Tim Daly work out some issues. Let’s just say their methods leave a bit to be desired.
Take a look at this video after the break.

Uncharted is one of the most beloved and critically praised game franchises of all time. Both epic and intimate, the trilogy brought back the concept thought killed by shooters of games as storytelling.
The game has been so successful, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood took notice and decided to translate its already cinematic action to the big screen. Actors rumored to have been involved include Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Campbell.
But who would be perfect? Let’s get ur dream cast together and find out.
