Sure, it’s great fun to watch your favorite shows on TV and experience them as a viewer. But what if you could actually participate in one of these shows instead of just watch?
Well, that’s possible now, especially if one of your favorite shows happens to be HBO’s True Blood. What am I talking about? The good folks at Charitybuzz, in conjunction with the show, are auctioning off a featured walk-on role in the series to the highest bidder.
As if that wasn’t enough already, proceeds from the auction will benefit GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Bidding is open through June 2 at Charitybuzz, which is one of the leading destinations for online charity auctions.
To get in on the action, head on over to the website for the auction and start bidding. True Blood Season 3 starts June 13th on HBO, so you better hurry.
For more on Charitybuzz and their other great auctions, which include meeting the cast of Entourage, hanging out with Chevy Chase on the set of Community and lunch with the cast of Mad Men, check out their site.

With all the movies coming out these days its easy to get lost in all the promotions by the studios. In an effort to get audiences interested in their particular film, they often deluge potential movie goers with a whole bunch of promotional stuff that due to the sheer amount, is often overlooked or just plain ignored. Sometimes, however, something comes along that’s kinda fun and deserves a bit of attention.
One such promotional tie-in is Universal’s current Get Him to the Greek song contest. To enter is simple, especially for all you budding rockstars out there.
Just record your cover version of Infant Sorrow’s (Russel Brand’s fictional band in the film) hit song “Bangers, Beans & Mash” and enter for a chance to win a trip to the world premiere of Get Him to the Greek at L.A.’s famous Greek Theatre. 20 runners-up will win limited edition Infant Sorrow merchandise, so don’t feel bad.
Get Him to the Greek features Jonah Hill and Russell Brand and is directed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘s Nicholas Stoller. It tells the story of a record company executive (Hill) with three days to drag an uncooperative rock legend (Brand) to Hollywood for a comeback concert. It also stars Sean Combs, Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne and Colm Meaney. It hits theaters June 4.

Since video games came into being, setting records or being the first to hit a huge accomplishment has driven repeated plays of even the simplest titles. From the high score on Galaga to reaching the kill screen in Donkey Kong, gamers set goals for themselves no matter how time consuming to achieve.
Just like a real game of baseball, gamers have been given the goal in Major League Baseball 2K10 to pitch a perfect game. Not out of the realm of possibilities but certainly not easy to come by. To reward the first individual to throw a perfect game, 2K Games is offering a $1,000,000 prize.
On sale today, the first player to hit a verified perfect game on either the XBox 360 or PlayStation 3 will be eligible for this prize. Also on sale for the Wii, Nintendo DS, PC, PSP and PlayStation 2, the two higher end systems were probably decided on because of their constant internet connectivity and tracking abilities (despite PlayStation 3′s rough week so far).
The feat must be accomplished in the game’s MLB Today mode and the player must select the “Major League Baseball 2K10 contest” . Ending May 1st, players are given two full months to video record the successful completion of a perfect game in which no opposing player reaches a base for any reason.

300, one of the biggest hits of 2007, directed by Zack Snyder and based off the comic book mini-series by Frank Miller (The Spirit, Sin City the movie and comic series), is now supposedly getting a prequel. For the prequel, the story is set in time to see the battle of Marathon – which took place ten years before the events of 300.
During the battle, Xerxes’ father, Darius I, battled the Athenians. I believe this is passingly mentioned in a mocking tone in 300, when Leonidas denies acquiescing to Xerxes’ messengers, before kicking them down a giant hole in the middle of town.
Miller, who will again be writing and drawing the comic series before it’s taken to the big screen, has said to the LA Times, “It’s the Battle of Marathon through my lens” and that he’s just about ready to begin. Of course, the interesting thing about 300, and some might say the frightening thing about this new story; is the level of fact and stylization Miller had put into his original story.

As you have probably noticed, we here at the Flickcast are hugely excited about the upcoming DC Universe Online game headed to Playstation 3 and the PC. Our hands-on time with the game and the interviews we have gotten with the creators have both been impressive and have gotten our mouths’ watering for the game’s eventual release. Now, DC Universe Online has combined with Mass Animation to actually give the game’s fanbase a chance to be a part of its creation process.
Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and Mass Animation today announced the DC Universe™ Online (DCUO) Animation Contest. The DCUO Animation Contest is version 2.0 of the acclaimed Mass Animation Facebook® application and will give DC Comics fans, gamers and animators a chance to animate heroes and villains from the DC Universe Online game currently in development by Sony Online Entertainment, and to collaborate in creating a CGI trailer and in-game character animations. The DCUO/Mass Animation contest is scheduled to launch on December 7, 2009.
‘The DCUO/Mass Animation contest takes a part of the game out of the development studio and puts it in the hands of fans, an empowering opportunity for our community,’ said John Smedley, president of SOE. ‘Players will have a chance through qualified contest submissions to be involved with the game’s development at a deeper level than ever before by animating actions for in-game heroes and villains.’

It’s no secret we here at The Flickcast are big fans of this summer’s Xbox Live hit, ‘Splosion Man. In addition to getting a score of an 8.5 in the review, we got some time back at San Diego Comic-Con to speak with the CEO of Twisted Pixel, Michael Wilford and even got a play through of one of the first levels.
Now it’s your turn to ‘splode. Our good friends at Twisted Pixel have sent us some download codes for XBox Live Arcade which you can redeem for the full game of ‘Splosion Man.
We’re going to be doing this givaway a bit differently than our last one. This time, through the power of Twitter, all you have to do is Retweet this story when it goes live, and a random Tweep will walk away with a download code good for this summer’s hottest XBLA game!
