Germany Gets Roarschach’s Head With ‘Watchmen’ DVD

by Matt Raub, Jun 18 2009

watchmen-dvdJust about a month away from the release of Watchmen on DVD here in the US, Germany has already announced out their own special box set of Zack Snyder’s film adaptation. Exclusive to the Amazon Germany this August, folks over there are able to order the special edition DVD inside of a rare and bizarre-looking “Roarschach head” that probably won’t fit on their DVD shelf.

Essentially, Germany got the short end of the stick when it comes to a cool-looking Watchmen box set. It’s considered to be an “Amazon Exclusive”, which is the equivelant to the US’s exclusive Nite Owl Ship Bundle, only creepier.

The head opens up to reveal the DVD set on the inside with, what looks to be, bare essentials, while the US-Exclusive ship opens to reveal a slew of DVD’s and extras.

Watchmen will be available on both DVD and Blu-Ray on July 21 here in the US (just in time for ComicCon) and Amazon is listing these features with the Special Edition:

  • Owl Ship packaging…lights and sounds included
  • Disc 1 (BD-50):
  • Director’s cut of the film (186 minutes)
  • Interactive “Ultimate Watchmen Experience”
  • BD-Live
  • Disc 2 (BD-25):
  • The Phenomenon: The Comic that Changed Comics (30 min.)
  • Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes (27 min.)
  • Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World (27 min.)
  • Webisodes (38 min.)
  • Music Video: My Chemical Romance Desolation Row (3 min.)
  • Disc 3 (DVD):
  • Digital Copy – Theatrical version
