Fans of Marvel franchise flicks have two great things to look for: Stan Lee’s inevitable cameo and the possibility of a special post-credits ‘secret’ ending that foreshadows things to come. Or in the case of Marvel’s more recent movies, helps one franchise build on one another as they lead up to the inevitable Avengers release in 2012.
Back in 2008, Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk intro’d Tony Stark and weaved him into the movie rather than doing a special ending scene. “I hear you have an unusual problem,” Tony states matter-of-factly, referencing the Hulk. “You should talk,” General ”Thunderbolt’ Ross retorts. And the connections between these Marvel movies began to unfold. With 2008′s Iron Man staying until the end of the credit sequence treated theater-goers to a special scene introducing Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury who goes on to invite Tony Stark to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and to discuss the ‘Avenger’ initiative.
And now, 2010′s Iron Man 2 drops perhaps the most massive clue to the upcoming ‘Avengers’ flick thus far.

I’m not going to bother placing a shaky flip cam video from YouTube.com, because these sort of spoiler videos are typically removed very quickly. Instead, I’ll describe the scene for you.
We begin with a black car speeding across the desert, eventually pulling up to the camera revealing its New Mexico license plate.
Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), who has an expanded role in Iron Man 2 steps out of the car.
He looks out over a massive crater, surrounded by various vehicles.
“Sir, we’ve found it,” he says carefully into his phone.
The camera pans out to reveal what’s at the center of the crater.
It’s…
Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer!

So, there you have it! Be sure to elaborate on how much you now hate me for spoiling this special moment in the comments!

pretty sure its Thors Hammer
isnt spiderman part of the avengers? also are they making justice league? they already have batman and superman
Actually he says “Sir, we’ve found him”
I thought it was a sword too XD
That would be better i think… How can they make Thor not seem weird by todays standards?
Ah noo nvm you got it right lol my bad.
just saw iron man2, come on y would they feat. the buster sword in a marvel movie knowing an avenger movie is coming out soon.
I completely thought it was the FF7 Sword!!! lol! As fast as the camera cuts out its very hard to notice that it is actually a hammer! That would be pretty wicked if Cloud came on the scene to battle iron man!
the first thing i thaught was the buster sword also but im a huge final fantasy nerd saying that thors hammer does make more since … y would marvel bring in a charecter created by square enix
I would have loved it to be Cloud Strifes sword, that would have just made my year but sadly as well as excitingly its Thors hammer
My brother and I thought the same thing and laughed as we came out of the theater.
Thanks for this. I’m not that much of a Marvel fan so was completely clueless when I watched that scene at a screening yesterday. Now I know why everyone else was cheering.
i knew it was thor but my dad didnt believe me
[...] Even more revelations here. [...]

How about making your point without being a jerk? We would appreciate that because sometimes people make mistakes and if you let them know they have a chance to fix them. Thanks for reading.
iron man 2 was released around the world a week before it releases in the U.S. except for the due to piracy
[...] actually i agree with you my 1st impression is also FF7 buster sword Mjolnir in Iron Man 2: ‘Iron Man 2′ Secret Ending Spoiled | The Flickcast Buster Sword in FF7: Buster Sword 1 Buster Sword [...]
agent culson was riding a car with plate # 8RE 2Z1…
now the question is: does anyone have a clue on what does that plate # means??
yes, I saw the dessert scene. Heard the AVENGERS will be released in 2012, with Tony Stark (iron man) providing their headquarters, with Thor, Captain America, and the incredible hulk. There is also a THOR movie being made by Kenneth Branagh, starring Chris Hemsworth…..
In case you were wondering, Iron Man 2 is already out in Europe. Not sure why it released there before the U.S., but that explains how some folks are already seeing the flick.
Well, I was today on ‘Iron Man 2′ and unfortunatelly missed that scene – I just didn;t knew about it. But good to know that something is in the air.
