‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ Getting Rebooted as ‘Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1′

by Sebastian Suchecki, Apr 22 2011

Not enough shows on TV have admitted that they’ve jumped the shark and relaunch their series as a brand new franchise. Could you imagine Happy Days calling itself The Fonze Show after ratings drastically dwindled?

Well, after 100 solid episodes, that’s exactly what Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force is planning on doing in just a few weeks. Their new brand?  Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1.

A pretty intense name change if you ask us. In a video press release from team member Meatwad, he mentions other changes we can expect are more mysteries and special cases. Also, the team will be moving to Seattle.

No word on what this may mean for series regulars like Carl, but you cane expect a whole new show on Sunday, May 8th with the brand new premiere.

Click through to check out the full press release from Meatwad himself, and get a very brief snippet of the new theme song performed by Queens of the Stone Age!

I’m guessing that it’s just a spoof of some kind. The humor has always been unconventionally cutting edge and this is just the kind of spoof I’d expect them to pull.

I hate when people get the name wrong, especially in articles like this.
It’s Aqua TEEN, not Aqua TEAM

Anyway, I doubt this change is permanent, I think they’re just doing one special episode this way, or maybe a few (why else would they be adding “1″ to the title?)

They’ve done stuff like this before, maybe not this drastic, the first few episodes of season 5 had people thinking the Aqua Teen’s were gone from their own show for good when they were absent from the episodes.
