Cortney’s TV Digest: What’s On In April

April showers bring great television, as you’ll see in this month’s installment of Cortney’s TV Digest.

Game of Thrones

HBO premiered the first fifteen minutes of Game of Thrones on Sunday night, and audiences got a taste of the gorgeous cinematography, stellar acting, and killer violence that is sure to be a part of every episode of this new series. Based on George R. R. Martin’s best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, Game of Thrones takes place in the world of Westeros, where many noble familes fight for control of the Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones stars the likes of Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, and will be directed by Thomas McCarthy, best known for his work on The Station Agent and The Visitor.

Game of Thrones will premiere April 17th on HBO.

The Office

After the most adorable episode we’ve seen in awhile and a short hiatus, The Office returns later this month as Dunder-Mifflin begins its search for Michael Scott’s replacement. First up on the list is a character played by Will Ferrel, and while he was recently reported as saying he was hoping to join The Office full-time after his four episode arc, Office producer Paul Leiberstein (better known as Toby) confirms that this won’t be the case.

Either way, these four episodes are sure to be hilarious, as Ferrel’s presence will most certainly breathe some life into The Office. The Office returns with new episodes on April 14th on NBC.

Top Chef Masters

Top Chef All-Stars just finished up last week (heck yeah, Richard Blais!) but you don’t have to wait long for the next course of Top Chef, which returns this week with the third season of Top Chef Masters. Masters is a bit different from the other seasons of Top Chef, as the best of the best chefs in the country compete for the title of Top Chef Master as well as $100,000, not for themselves but for their favorite charity.

Expect to see more of your favorite competitions (Restaurant Wars for the win!) as well as the amazing culinary skill you’ve come to expect from Top Chef. Top Chef Masters premieres on April 7th on Bravo.

Bob’s Burgers

This show has been on for quite some time, so it’s a shame that I haven’t talked about it until now. I was a huge fan of Loren Bouchard’s previous shows, Home Movies and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, so naturally I’m a huge fan of his newest creation, Bob’s Burgers.

The show is about a small burger joint, run by Bob Belcher and his wife, two daughters, and son. The humor is along the same lines as Bouchard’s last few shows, and Bob is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, who you may know as Coach McGirk from Home Movies or his lead voice-acting role as Archer.

If you’re a fan of any of those shows mentioned or maybe just looking for a great new animated sitcom, definitely try a taste of Bob’s Burgers. Bob’s Burgers airs every Sunday on FOX.
