Could This Be the Premise Of ‘Indiana Jones 5’?

We like to stay clear from most rumors when it comes to movie news, but sometimes there is something that comes along we can’t pass up. This time, the news is in the form of a possible plot leak of the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel, which would be the fifth film in the series.

Many people remember Crystal Skull as being the Phantom Menace of Indiana Jones films, with things like aliens, monkey kidnappers, and the entire concept of Mutt Williams, but this newest rumor could be the thing that saves the Indy franchise. From the New Zealand website Stuff:

Harrison Ford’s final outing as Indiana Jones will be “emotional and exciting” as the franchise heads back to its roots after a badly received fourth installment.

Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will be centered around the Bermuda Triangle, an area over the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft are said to have disappeared.

Movie bosses have assured fans the film will stay true to the series’ roots, and won’t contain lots of state-of-the-art special effects.

“Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy’s son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie,” the source added.

So if this scoop holds any water, this means we could see Indy solving the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle, which is a nice change of pace from the previous X-Files-esque plot twist in the last film.

Going back to more practical effects over CG could also be a good thing, considering how well it worked with Iron Man and the fact that nobody wants to see an animated Harrison Ford jumping over boxes in a warehouse.

After looking at the link, I shake my head over the leve lof people who can publish “news” online with editorial insanity. Only IDIOTS would place Crystal Skull on such a low rung as The Phantom Menace. There is no satirical tone to this blurb so I’ll take the opinions as non-sarcastic. Iron Man has LOTS of digital effects. As for Ford in the Warehouse, those were mostly live stunts and the only digital aspect was erasure of safety apparatus. If Indy does solve the mystery of the Devil’s Triangle, there will be people who get it and people who don’t. He may even confront the Devil himself, and a whole new league of idiots will pounce on it a theologically unsound. Whatever Indy 5 turns out to be, I don’t have to know until we SEE it.
The Algonquin Roundtable of geeks is unnecessary.

I’d rather not have Lucas and Spielberg have their way with my childhood once again. Its been two years and I still can’t sit properly.
