Adobe Photoshop CS 6 Beta Now Available

When it comes to image manipulation tools, the granddaddy of them all has to be Adobe Photoshop. Go to pretty much any company that spends any time manipulating images and they will have Photoshop. It is, to all intents and purposes, the standard against which all others are measured.

It’s been quite some time since Adobe launched a new version of its Photoshop software but finally, that time has come. Well, at least in the form of a new Beta.

Late yesterday, the company released Photoshop CS6 beta into the wild. It features a new, faster and more modern user interface, re-engineered design tools and content-aware patching.

“Photoshop CS6 will be a milestone release that pushes the boundaries of imaging innovation with incredible speed and performance,” said Winston Hendrickson, vice president products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe. “We couldn’t wait to share this beta of Photoshop CS6 with our customers and are looking forward to hearing from them and seeing the ways they are incorporating the beta into their daily creative workflows.”

If you want to check out the new beta it would help to have fast internet. The file weighs in at about 1GB. PC users need to have a 2GHz or faster processor with at least 1GB of RAM and be running Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7. Mac users need multicore Intel processor, 1GB of RAM and OS X 10.6.8 or newer.

The Photoshop CS6 beta is available now from Adobe’s website. Expect the final version sometime in 2012.

First Trailer for Stephanie Meyer’s ‘The Host’ Hits the Web

For those of you who were “too cool” to attend any of the films in the multi-billion dollar franchise which is The Twilight Saga, you aren’t missing much. But, with that in mind, it makes complete sense that creator Stephanie Meyer would be ready and willing to capitalize on another franchise, now that her vampire/werewolf/emo chick love triangle is coming to an end.

Enter The Host, which hit bookshelves back in 2008. Toted as being “Science fiction for people who don’t like science fiction”, the book is said to be a bit of a departure from Meyer’s Twilight universe. Here’s the synopsis.

The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

Set to hit theaters on March 29th of next year, the film has plans to take star Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) and possibly construct her into the next Kristen Stewart with this upcoming adaptation. Take a look at the first trailer after the jump, and be prepared to be dazzled by a series of photoshopped images of creepy eyes.

WonderCon 2012 Video Wrap-Up: Girls, Cosplay, & Posing

Another WonderCon has come and gone. This year was slightly different than any year previous as this was the first time that WonderCon was held in Anaheim, CA and not its typical home of San Francisco.

Many people I spoke to enjoyed the change in venue, and liked the added space that the Anaheim Convention center seemed to provide.

One of the best things coming away from a comic book convention is the chance to look at pictures of the costumes, ruffle through your free swag, and watch fun videos captured around the convention. Enjoy them all after the jump.

Netflix Looking to Take On ABC’s Horror Show ‘The River’

Netflix has its eye on ABC’s freshman drama The River, which is facing cancellation. Netflix is already in talks with 20th Century Fox TV about possibly picking up Terra Nova, which was recently cancelled by Fox, for a second season.

It’s being reported that the push for original content by the streaming giant is making them more willing to take risks on what they see as quality programming.  Netflix is currently negotiating with The River producer ABC Studios about the possibility of continuing the thriller/horror series.

It is being stressed that the talks are merely exploratory at this point and that the show has not officially been cancelled by ABC. Even though The River has not been officially canceled by ABC, it is widly considered a foregone conclusion. The talks are also part of a larger conversation between ABC Studios and Netflix for other undisclosed properties.
