E3 2011: New ‘Assassin’s Creed: Revelations’ CGI Trailer Arrives

Brace yourselves for the onslaught of gaming trailers this week. It’s E3 time so it is inevitable. This one is for Ubisoft’s upcoming title Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

In Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and, well, revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.

The latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga includes new gameplay which allows players to manipulate the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future. Sounds cool.

We’ll try to get an in person look at his game on the E3 show floor this week. AThe game itself will be available this November for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Check out the brand new trailer after the jump.

New Previews for NBC’s ‘Grimm’ and ‘Prime Suspect’ Arrive

Even though Fall may seem pretty far into the future, it will arrive in almost the blink of an eye. To help prepare you for the new Fall TV season, we’ve got some of what will no doubt be many previews of two new shows.

The first one up is Grimm. The stories are real, at least according to this promo. Well, if they’re not real, they still look pretty scary.

Next up is Maria Bello in Prime Suspect. In this promo we meet her character, Jane Timoney, who makes for an interesting dinner date. I don’t care if she is “interesting”, I would still hang out with Maria Bello for a bit. She’s nice to look at.

Grimm will air on Friday night at 9/8C and Prime Suspect will air on Thursday at 10/9C. Check out the previews after the break.

War Movie Mondays: ‘The Ninth Configuration’

This week’s pick is the 1980 release of William Peter Blatty’s The Ninth Configuration which is a Gothic, thriller, comedic, war picture.  The film stars Stacy Keach (Col. Hudson Kane), Scott Wilson (Capt. Billy Cutshaw), Jason Miller (Lt. Frankie Reno), Ed Flanders (Col. Richard Fell), Neville Brand (Maj. Marvin Groper), George DiCenzo (Capt. Fairbanks), Moses Gunn (Maj. Nammack), Robert Loggia (Capt. Bennish), Joe Spinell (Lt. Spinell), Tom Atkins (Sgt. Krebs), Steve Sandor (Stanley), and veteran actor Richard Lynch (Richard).

The Ninth Configuration is a film unlike any other.  It’s a film which blends many different genres together and delivers a truly comedic and frightening film at times.  The film’s protagonist is that of Capt. Cutshaw (Wilson), an astronaut who aborted his space launch out of fear of dying.  Cutshaw is remanded to a secret government facility housed in an old castle in the Pacific northwest region of the United States during the tail end of the Vietnam War.  The purpose of the facility was to see if certain individuals were faking psychosis in order to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

The arrival of a new commanding officer is played by Stacy Keach (Col. Hudson Kane).  Maj. Groper (Brand) assembles the group of patient misfits to greet the new shrink and welcome him to the facility.  The inmates amuse themselves by reciting famous lines from famous movies like Victor McLaglen in The Informer or one of the bandits from Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Col. Kane is greeted by one man who refers to himself as Dr. Frome  (Blatty) and is grateful for any help a psychologist can bring.  Groper sounds off a role call and asks where Frome is.

Two Marine guards escort Frome back inside and the real doctor, Col. Fell (Flanders) introduces himself.  Kane looks at Fell with curiosity and believes that the two have met someplace before.  Fell says that he has no recollection of ever meeting Col. Kane before.

E3 2011: New ‘Prototype 2’ Trailer Released

With E3 being this week you can expect a slew of new trailers, screenshots and major announcements from video game producers, publishers and hardware companies. Among those announcements is Activision’s release of the new trailer for its upcoming title Prototype 2.

In case you’re not familiar with the game, it deals with the exploits of Alex Mercer (voiced by Barry Pepper) who wakes up on a morgue slab with no memory. Alex escapes and sets out to recover his memory and find out exactly what occurred. He soon discovers he now possesses powerful shapeshifting abilities that grant him superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, weaponry and the ability to “consume” people to gain their memories, skills and appearance.

Alex is forced to track down and consume those related to the conspiracy in order to uncover the truth. During his quest, Alex must face and overcome both the military charged with containing the incident and a horde of infected monsters who’s only thought is killing him. And that, my friends, is the basis for some great action.

Click through to check out all the awesome action in this brand new trailer. Look for Prototype 2 to hit stores sometime in 2012.

Ho! The Original ‘Thundercats’ Series Gets Re-Released on DVD This Summer

Hold on now, before you go into a fury about the original Thundercats series from 1985 being out on DVD for nearly 7 years, take these facts into account. Back in 2005, Warner Home Video released the original Thundercats series on DVD in several chunks containing over 30 episodes each, spread over six discs per release. Those releases have since been discontinued, have ranged anywhere from $65 to $100 in price each. A bit steep to relive some classic 80’s animated action.

That’s where Warner Home Video has decided to correct themselves. Starting on July 12th, they will be re-releasing the original series in much smaller packages, calling them “parts”, ie. the first release, ThunderCats: The Original Series Season 1 Part 1. Here’s the official press release from WB. You can also check out the full episode list for this release and the full sized box art after the jump.

This summer, the Code of Thundera will live on when Warner Home Video releases ThunderCats: The Original Series Season 1 Part 1 July 12, 2011 on DVD – just ahead of the all-new series premiere of ThunderCats on Cartoon Network. The 2-disc collection set, priced to own at $19.97, includes the first 12 action-packed episodes, as well as a special featurette entitled “Feel the Magic, Hear the Roar,” where fans speak out about their incredible passion for the classic animated series.
