Latest Trailer for Rob Marshall’s ‘NINE’

N-02097_Rt1We’ve shown you some great stuff from Rob Marshall’s upcoming musical NINE already, from some stills to a featurette to a trailer. Now, as the film gets closer to the release date, as usually happens, a brand new trailer has just dropped.

This time around, as with previous versions, the trailer further highlights the musical spectacle and acting power put together for the film. It also gives a bit more information about the story of the main character, director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), and his effect on the woman in his life. We also catch more glimpses of some of the musical numbers and more of the other terrific cast members, including Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench

Expect a full review of NINE here at The Flickcast soon. Until then, enjoy this latest trailer (after the jump of course) of what will surely be yet another Rob Marshall musical masterpiece. NINE opens in NY and LA on December 18 and everywhere else on Christmas Day.

Peter Jackson Talks ‘Hobbit’ Movies

peter-jacksonOnce Peter Jackson announced to the world that he would be writing and producing an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and that it would be two movies, there has been speculation as to just how the book will be split. Will it be cut in two and be a two-part adaptation like others are doing for the last Harry Potter and Twilight films or will the first movie be based on the book and the second serve as a bridge to Jackson’s Lord of the Rings?

Well, wonder no more because Jackson himself has cleared up the mystery, according to an interview he gave recently. The two movies will be based completely on the book.

“The second Hobbit script is still based on the Hobbit novel,” Jackson said in a group interview after a press conference for The Lovely Bones. “The Hobbit novel is in two parts.” Well, that sounds pretty definitive, doesn’t it?

In case you’re not familiar, The Hobbit tells the story of young Bilbo Baggins’ quest for a treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug. Written prior to The Lord of the Rings, it establishes some of the characters for that trilogy, including the wizard Gandalf and the evil Gollum, and the world of Middle Earth in which they live.

The first Hobbit movie is due in theaters in 2011, with part two following in 2012.

Anthony Michael Hall Guest Stars As “Mike The Bully” In a New ‘Community’ Clip

NUP_137472_0649Yesterday, we brought you a brand new clip from this week’s episode of Community entitled “Comparative Religion.” In this week’s episode, the A-story is about Shirley’s (Yvette Nicole Brown) Christmas party, while the B-story is about Mike the Bully (guest star Anthony Michael Hall) tormenting Joel McHale and the gang.

The Breakfast Club alum makes his first guest appearance in what could prove to be a recurring role in the series, as a middle-aged, mustachioed tough-guy who doesn’t seem to like the male members of the study group.

In this clip, Mike sets his sights on Abed (Danny Pudi) after all the Christmas cookies are gone. Jeff (Joel McHale) decides to do the right thing and step in. This episode also marks the first time that Anthony Michael Hall and series regular Chevy Chase have shared a screen since they played father and son in 1983’s National Lampoon’s Vacation.

First Trailer For ‘Kids In The Hall: Death Comes To Town’

2004401770A few months ago, we first reported that the Kids in The Hall, Lorne Michael’s bastard Canadian comedy troop, would be making it’s return to (Canadian) TV with an all new series entitled Death Comes To Town. It looks like we’re even closer to getting a return of the outrageous comedy team, as the first trailer has just been released.

The premise feels a little bit like the plot to Hot Fuzz. A local, everyday, suburban town gets it’s world rocked when a series of vicious murders take place, around the same time that Death shows up via Greyhound bus. The entire gang steps in to portray the locals (in typical KIDH fashion), including Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Scott Thompson, Mark McKinney, and Bruce McCulloch.

The story will be doled out in an 8 part mini-series, which will only be available on Canadian Broadcast TV at first (Hello internet download). No news yet on whether it will be syndicated on US TV, but if Lorne Michaels gave the group a chance once, he’s likely to do it 21 years later.

Jack Ryan Gets An Original Screenplay

Chris PineWhile James Bond gets a lot of attention on the big screen there’s another pseudo-spy that’s just as good in my opinion.  I’m talking about Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Clancy’s novels have been the basis for four films to date with various actors taking on the Ryan role.

Way back in 1990 The Hunt for Red October started it all with Alec Baldwin as the first Jack Ryan. When Baldwin left, Harrison Ford took over for two films, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. The series faltered somewhat thereafter until Ben Affleck arrived in The Sum of all Fears.

As diverse as the actors have been the series overall has held together pretty well in my opinion. While Ford was probably the closest to what Ryan was like in the novels bringing Affleck in was necessary to reboot the franchise with a younger star. Sadly, that never seemed to work out.

Fortunately, producer Mace Neufeld, who has been with the series since the very beginning, is still planning a fresh start.  Chris Pine (Star Trek) will take Affleck’s place as Jack Ryan and word is the fifth film may not be based on a Clancy novel as the other films have been:

“We ran out of books,” says Nuefeld. “Red Rabbit was the last one, and we just couldn’t seem to get a script out of it.” Red Rabbit is one of only two novels, alongside The Cardinal of the Kremlin, in which Ryan is young enough for Pine’s portrayal to be book-faithful.”

First Look at ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Part One

Picture 2With the screen adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows getting split into two films, the first of which hits theaters next November, we’re just now getting a glimpse at the first scenes from the film.

The book was claimed to be too epic in size by Warner Bros. to be released as one film, so it will be split between two films on November 19 of 2010 and July 15 of 2011. This is the final chapter in the book’s series, and according to IMDb, the premise alone is pretty heavy.

Voldemort’s power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore’s work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for them, so everything they do must go as planned.

Check out the first featurette and teaser for the film after the jump, in which producer David Heyman and director David Yates discuss working on the project. The next films also star John Hurt (Alien, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) reprising his role as Mr. Ollivander.
