Massive ‘WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011′ Screen Shot Gallery, New Features Revealed

by John Carle, Aug 20 2010

Back in November, we gave you our review of WWE’s latest Smackdown vs. Raw 2010. Now, SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 is on the horizon and WWE has just announced the superstars for the game’s cover as well as some of its key features.

In the US, John Cena, the Big Show and the Miz, the latest addition to the Money in the Bank club, will be gracing SmackDown vs. Raw’s cover art (seen above). If you scan down to the gallery below, you will also see the European cover art featuring the Undertaker, Randy Orton and Sheamus.

“WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 is on track to deliver the most incredible WWE simulation experience to date in our storied franchise,” said Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ. “This year’s game will offer players a variety of intuitive new gameplay features, impactful upgrades, industry-leading creation and customization tools, as well as unparalleled freedom to experience their own virtual WWE moments in line with those seen weekly in WWE.”

WWE Universe Mode – A new take on a career mode, players will be able make decisions that change the scenarios they will be fighting in, start rivalries and alliances, earn championship matches and get involved in backstage altercations.

Road to WrestleMania – Players are given more freedom than they have in the past to control the fate of their superstar on the way to the biggest event of the year. Players can now free roam through locker rooms, select their opponents and break into impromptu matches.

Character Creation – After last year’s community driven creations spawned over 10 million downloads, more moves and visual creation tools have been added to further expand the possibilities for players in the game to make their ultimate superstar.

Superstars and Matches – This year’s game will feature a roster of over 70 WWE Superstars and Divas, one of the largest rosters to date. It will feature a total of over 100 combined match types as well.

Physics and Gameplay – WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 will boast the series’ most realistic physics engine to date that will “ensure all matches and object interactions look and feel unique, dynamic and unpredictable to capture the full essence and authenticity of WWE.”

DLC – Right off the bat, players be able to download WWE Superstar Chris Masters and alternate attire for Rey Mysterio and Kelly Kelly for free if they purchase the game first hand. If they bought the game used, they can purchase this DLC. Additional packages featuring Superstars, Divas, arenas and alternate attire will be announced later in the year.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 is scheduled for an October 26th, 2010 release date, competing with Rock Band 3 and Fable III. The game will be available for the XBox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP. Check out all the screens for the game as well as the full trailer below.
