There is a lot of speculation on why Paranormal Activity is one of the highest per-screen grossing films of all time. Many people believe that it’s due to the viral marketing campaign that swept the nation overnight, but the fact is, we live in a very superstitious world right now. Some of the most popular books and television series’ are about vampires and hunting ghosts, so why wouldn’t everyone in the country rush out to see an alleged first-hand account of a haunting.
With that in mind, one of the major reasons why people keep going back to the film is it’s haunting ending. It could give a grown man chills, seeing that final shot. That wasn’t the original ending, and was due to Paramount’s prediction of how audiences would react.
The original ending, which you can see in full after the jump, is far less exciting or scary. Granted, it gives the two main characters closure and leaves the audience with an actual ending, but that’s not always what horror fans are in it for. If you haven’t seen the film, I don’t recommend watching the clip. But if you have, see how things were originally supposed to go down after the jump.
Paranormal Activity can still be seen in theaters nationwide.

The theatrical ending was better, after all, the whole entire movie we’re dealing with some evil entity and the theatrical ending version lives up to it! The so called original ending is just some human going crazy and killing her lover, boring!! We’ve been there so many times b4 in other movies, hell yes for the demon face killer at the end!!
I don’t understand why officers didn’t try to punch the knife off her hand somehow without firing on her… of course, they were not aware of the situation and I suppose they thought she was dangerous. Even if she was a girl. but again… I mean, I’m just sayin’… THX for the vid 😉

The original ending is much better. The theatrical one was just pure cheese with her leaping at the camera like that. This one freaked me out a bit more and seemed to thrive from its more realistic outlook. Only criticism would be that dedication at the end.

i have always herd that there was an original ending to the movie about a cop shooting her iv seen the other 2 and i think this one should of been shown n the movies nsted of the one where she throw him nto the camera i like this one better

Jenny there are only 3 endings. The Original, the theatrical and the alternate, the intial thing to do when you ‘think’ you know something is to provide PROOF so if you do speak to this ‘friend’ please do post the fourth supposed ending and i will stand corrected . . . . .

this is the first ending, the second ending is the one on dvd as theatrical and the third ending involves no cops or fone call.
I think the ending where MIcah is thrown at the camera is much more effective and true to the rest of the movie.
