Exclusive: WWE's Brie Bella Talks About 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

Exclusive: WWE’s Brie Bella Talks About ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’

This Sunday at 8PM EST on ABC, Brie Bella, along with her sister Nikki, WWE Superstars R-Truth and the Big Show, and Nascar legend Jeff Gordon will be appearing on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. On the episode, these five stars teamed up to help out Amanda and Derrick Suggs, a couple with two children of their own who also adopted Amanda’s younger siblings to prevent them from being placed into foster care.

We recently got to chat with Brie, one half of the WWE’s hottest twins (no offense, Earl and Dave Hebner). Take a look below at what Brie has to tell us about this unique experience as well as her time in WWE and being the local girl at this year’s WrestleMania 26.

The Flickcast: For those who aren’t familiar with you and your sister can you just give a quick little intro on how you got on TV?

Brie Bella: Well we are the Bella twins, Nikki and Brie Bella and I actually debuted on SmackDown first. I started wrestling against Victoria and Nikki and I had our little tricks up our sleeve with some twin switches and then in November (of 2008), the twins debuted together. So since then we’ve been a strong tag team and been on SmackDown, ECW and Raw. Now we are the guest host assistants on Monday Night Raw.

TFC: Well speaking of tag teams, the reason we are talking with you today are because you and your sister are appearing on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and you had some interesting partners pairing up with you. You had R-Truth and the Big Show, both WWE Superstars, as well as Jeff Gordon. Would you like to tell us about working with them?

BB: Oh yes, well Big Show was just amazing to work with. I mean, he’s so funny but it was just fun too to have him because he did so much damage with the old house and it was just so neat to see him take out walls.

TFC: He was your own one man wrecking crew.

BB: Yes! I mean, the match could have just been Big Show against the house. That would have been fine. So that was really fun. And R-Truth, just a great guy and it was amazing to work with him. Just so much fun and I actually wasn’t there with Jeff Gordon. He was there other days than us WWE Superstars and Divas but it would have been fun to have worked with him.

TFC: Can you tell us a little bit about your interaction with the family? What was it like working with them?

BB: Well you know they actually were on a trip during the time we were working in Disney World but we showed up to the house and we were told the story. Amanda and Derrick are around my age so I was really blown away to see they have their own family, their two kids, but then they adopted their siblings so they wouldn’t be separated by foster care. I was just blown away and it was a little emotional too because all I have to worry about is my career and myself. To think of these two people my age having to worry about not only themselves but a family to feed and have a roof over, I was just like, “Oh wow.” I was blown away.

TFC: I can only imagine it has to be a very emotional experience to go through. Did you have a specific room that you worked on in the house? Did you and your sister pair up?

BB: I did. Nikki and I, we had Jake’s room and we worked with Johnny. He is a huge wrestling fan so it was really fun because from experience and always being around rings and the whole backstage, we were able to have fun with his room and make it a total WWE setup. We put a ring and it was so cool.

TFC: Custom paint job with an audience on the wall and things like that?

BB: We actually didn’t get to see the finish but that’s why I’m going to watch this Sunday. But yea, everything they were picking out was pretty unbelievable.

TFC: Is there anything you would have liked to put into the room but you didn’t get the chance to?

BB: Well you know, maybe a huge poster of the Bella twins. That’s about it. (Laughs) I’m just kidding. No, I think they definitely covered it. Especially because the house before, I couldn’t believe a family lived in it. It was just so small and it was crazy to see how outdated some of the stuff was and how all the electricity wires were showing and there was rotting. Just when I saw the buildings and the rooms, it’s going to be so much to live in than what they were so I am happy to know that.

TFC: Did they pretty much knock down all of the house and start from scratch?

BB: Oh they definitely did. They knocked down the whole thing. It’s crazy because everyone from the community comes out to help and they do it on their own time and to see how quick they are building, it was such a surreal feeling to be out there because the energy of the people is so great it was amazing to see how fast things were going up. It was so cool.

TFC: Now how many days were you actually working on the house?

BB: About three days.

TFC: Well to get a little wrestling questions going on here, we know that WrestleMania just happened a little over a week ago. How was it being the hometown girl during WrestleMania since we know that you are your sister are both from the Phoenix area?

BB: It was amazing. Nikki and I felt like little princesses because it was so much attention and press and we had so many different things to do. The last time we had so much stuff to do it was for our soccer but to come out there and be with wrestling and this crew we love, it was such an amazing, amazing feeling. Ah, we just felt so great.

TFC: Now that WWE has turned WrestleMania in to an entire week, and not just a one night event, what was your favorite thing you got to do during WrestleMania week?

BB: Well, it would have to be going to the children’s hospital and hanging out with them for a while. They were just all so beautiful and such big smiles and sweet, that just touched my heart.

TFC: That’s awesome.

BB: Yea, well you know how WWE is, we’re huge with charity and even for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, they donated $25,000 to the Suggs family. And that’s why I love being a part of this company so much, they’re just so big with charity and helping out the people who help us out so I love that.

TFC: Sounds like a very, very rewarding experience for you? I’m guessing if you and Nikki got asked to do it again, you’d pick that chance up in a heartbeat.

BB: Oh, you have no idea. The answer would come up so quick, “Yes.”

FC: Alright well Brie, thank you very much for your time. Is there anything else you want to let our audience know before we let you go?

BB: Nope, just if you want to follow us, follow us on Twitter @thebellatwins.

TFC: And they can actually find you on my friends on my Twitter since I make sure to stay in touch with my favorite twins that way.

Be sure to catch Brie, her sister, and the rest of the WWE crew on this Sunday’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” at 8PM EST.
