Color me excited. I just fired up my HTC Incredible this morning to find a message alerting me that the update to Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) was ready to be installed.
Naturally, this made me very happy and I proceeded to do the update. Here’s what was added or otherwise made much better by this update, which changes your software to version 3.21.605.1 and Android version 2.2:
• 3G Mobile Hot Spot
• HTC Widget: Mail
• HTC Widget: News
• EAS Updates
• 720p Video Recording
• Amazon MP3
• Skype
• My Verizon
The rumored 802.11N wireless enhancement seems to be untrue as so far my updated HTC Incredible can’t find my N wireless network. That’s a shame. I will be testing out these changes and whatever else I can find today and will let you know if anything else seems odd or broken.
Plus, if I end up finding anything else cool not so far known with this update. If you guys decide to update, let us know your experiences in the comments.

September 14, 2010 at 6:59 pmThe update screwed up my camera folders. I just had a baby and all the photos I have taken of him are now GONE!!! And it was all the photos since DAY ONE OF HIS BIRTH. How am I able to retrieve all the photos, photos that will never be replaced? Or are they all lost now due to this HORRIBLE update?

September 3, 2010 at 1:12 pmI installed the update this morning and now I can’t open my text messages. I’ve turned the phone off and back on and even went as far as removing the battery hoping this would help. I use handcent sms as my texting program so I removed it to see if the HTC installed “Messages” would work – nope! I LIVE to text so I’m pretty frustrated with this. HELP!!!

September 2, 2010 at 9:10 pmDoes anyone feel that the battery takes forever to charge with the new release? I have been charging my phone for two hours now and I am only at 70%. Will this then mean that we will have longer battery life?

September 2, 2010 at 4:18 pmI charge mine at night with the power off. Makes a difference in battery life during the day. I don’t think it gets a full charge while its on.

September 6, 2010 at 7:46 pmMine is doing the same thing, and now it won’t charge at all. Never happened before the update. So far, this update has virtually killed my phone and my productivity. Very disappointed right now.

September 2, 2010 at 6:00 amThe 2.2 release is a disappointment. My phone which worked so well on the 2,1 OS, now has started acting up ever since the 2.2 upgrade last night.
– Apps such as Skype and VZW navigator keep re launching themselves silently in the background every few minutes.
– Skype s the worst offender in terms of an active app. just cant kill or reinstall the app. It keeps re lauching silently in the background
– the worst problem : the phone heats up randomly and has started to drain battery when using the phone for video playback or any other network intensive operation
Overall, i give a thumbs down to the upgrade. Wish i could roll back to 2.1 till these issues are resolved
One more thing…i feel the ability of the device to latch on and stay connected to a particluar network has also degraded. On 2.1 i would get a steady 1 bar of 3G coverage (not the best) but the data flow was good. Now in the same spot i get a degraded 1X network and of course the data transfer crawls because i am in 1X

September 7, 2010 at 6:13 pmYeah, wish I could get rid of Skype and VZ Nav. Don’t use either. Looking into a way to do it. Will post if I find out anything.
