New ‘Wonder Woman’ TV Show Set Pics Reveal Revised Costume

A few weeks ago pictures surfaced of star Andrianne Palicki in her Wonder Woman costume for David E. Kelly’s upcoming TV series for NBC. Unfortunately, the costume was met with, shall we say, resistance by many fans and caused a public outcry online for it to be changed.

Well, apparently NBC and Kelly listened because now that new pics have come out, the costume is different. Unfortunately, it isn’t a whole lot better this time around.

The new pics were taken last night during filming of the show on the famous Hollywood Boulevard. The show closed the historic street between Orange and Highland for filming that will conclude on Thursday. So, if you’re in Hollywood, watch out for more traffic.

In the action scene, series star Palicki, in full Wonder Woman gear, chases a bad guy down the street. Fortunately, no news of wardrobe malfunctions or anything like that have been reported. However, we’ve still got two more nights to go, so anything’s possible.

Click through for a bigger look at the new costume and Wonder Woman in action. David E. Kelly’s Wonder Woman hits NBC in the Fall.

Like the revised costume or do you think this show is destined to fail? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Americans are clamoring for Wonder Woman to save Americans from wrongdoers. She needs her weapons of the golden lariat, golden wrist bracelets, and her given talents of speed, power, and super strength. Who cares what she wears. Her costume has to communicate that she defends America and the innocent (?).

What’s up with that wardrobe? In the movies and on TV most superheroes look the way they are supposed to. Superman looks like Superman, so does Batman, Spiderman, Ironman, Flash, Silver Surfer, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four and every other movie or TV show that I can think of except for the X-men. More than a few people are saying it’s because her look was too American and too patriotic.

Costume stinks, She has no boo oobs either. Linda carter had the natural wonder pillows.

I’ve never seen an uglier superhero costume than this disaster Palicki is wearing. What’s all that junk around her waist? Is it a crotch guard?

THEY WILL MESS THIS UP LIKE THEY DID THE NEW BIONIC WOMAN SHOW WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO IF ITS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT. I LIKE THE FIRST ORIGINAL COSTUME MAYBE LINDA CARTER WILL LEND THEM HER COSTUME AND CAPE WITH THE SKIRT I DO AGREE THIS MOST LIKELY WILL BE DISAPPOINTING

I don’t know if any of the show’s directors or producers read these comments but if they do, take a hard long look at this costume and tell me if it doesn’t make you laugh like it did me. If your in the business to make money then take some advice and go with the iconic look or this show will die faster than a Fantasy Island remake. No, don’t just ditch the pants for a bathing suit bottom but deep six the whole outfit and fire your costume designer. As a side note, couldn’t you find an actress with a more wholesome look about her? Sometimes she looks like a man in drag and other times she looks like Rachel Ray in the pics.

Rachel Ray would be great for this show…. I do hope the producers are reading this! great idea Todd!

A show or a movie has been in the works for ten years or more and it always seemed to fizzle out. Now that a TV show is actually in production, this is the best they can come up with? The costume is so far off I would not have known this was Wonder Woman. If there is so much animus in Hollywood against this character being portrayed the way she was meant to be portrayed then just do us a favor and rename this monstrosity Wonder Warrior so as to distance it from the comic book character. Give her a sword and she can be some modern day Zena who fell through some dimensional doorway into our world who fights crime (without any of Wonder Woman’s superpowers of course).

The story line and the acting better be dam good because bases on the outfit, I think it will fail.

It wasn’t a bunch of church ladies who got together and decided she’d look better with pants. Tomas is right. Hollywood is anti-American, globalist and pro-Marxist to the core. Wonder Woman’s real costume is red, white and blue with white stars and white stripes down her red boots. Sound familiar? This monstrosity doesn’t even have the same color coordination and they even used gold stars instead of white. Look how amateur the design is. The top looks to be vinyl and the pants cotton/polyester and they obviously don’t fit properly. When I first saw it it made me smile because I thought it was a practical joke.

Adrianne Palicki is certainly no Lynda Carter and she looks downright homely looking in these still shots. That costume is horrible and it’s obvious it was changed so it would look less like the American flag because of some ideological agenda. Wonder Woman is an iconic hero like Superman and Batman and their costumes have remained virtually unchanged since the creation of the characters. This show could have been a hit but I suspect it will tank in a few months. This Wonder Woman fan will not be watching it. To those who say this is a new era, a new generation, a new actress and a show, are you saying this actress is the best they can come up with and that mess she’s wearing is better than the iconic costume?

You know, it would have been better if they used the same design from the old Xena Warrior Princess show but made it Wonder Woman’s colors. I could be happy with that. Like make WW’s eagle designed as chest armor, a leather top under it and a blue greco-roman skirt with stars going down the flaps and red boots with gold eagle shin guards, and just drop Xena’s shoulder pads and upper arm bands… Also, you could lower WW’s tiara a bit to make it look like head protection.

the pants need to go but dont make her look like a skank either!!! small heels like the original. whoever the costume director is needs to be fired. stop trying to make her look new age when shes a classic hero. maybe combine the two ideas

running in heels is a bitch, fyi. making them flat is better.

As a long time Wonder Woman fan (and straight, late 20s male) I generally like the costume they’ve come up with. Pants are long overdue. I’m glad they ditched the plastic pants and made the boots red. As a costume designer I think that the textures of the corset and pants don’t fit as well as they could but overall I’m happy. And I’m very excited they got rid of the heels!

In my dream world the costume would have more of an ancient greek feel, maybe with dull leather. But here it is and I’m ready to give it a shot. With the costume out of the way let’s see if she’s written as a compelling character. A strong warrior with compassion and convictions. I’m much more willing to give this show a shot now.

I have to agree with most of you. I want this to be good but I have a feeling it won’t be. Still, I’m going to try to give it a chance. Hopefully, new pics or a trailer will come out and make everything all better.

Hello, it’s David Kelly! He’s a very talented, creative – and successful creator/producer. Consider his creative flair with Ally McBeal’s dancing baby to his the angst of his other long-running dramas, and have a little faith. The actress Kelly chose to play WW is talented and beautiful. If Smallville – with their goofy, inconsistant plots and bad acting – can last years, maybe a show helmed by a critcally succesful writer/producer and a good actress has a chance. Support the show and give it time to get it’s sea legs.

I like the new approach, yes it looks odd to see her in pants, but who cares. Star Trek failed because stuck up fans cant handle change. Get over it! the outfit looks great in my opinion. Look if want to go and see half naked women, go to a strip club, I am more interested in what the storyline is. NOT WHAT SHE IS WEARING!!! what she wears does not make the show.

OOOOOOH HEEEELLZ NO. WTF IS THIS. NOW YA’LL KNOW WONDER WOMAN AIN’T WEAR NO PANTS. WE CAN DEAL WITH A NEW PERSON. CAUSE CLEARLY LYNDA CARTER IS TOO OLD NOW. BUT C’MON MAAAN. PANTS? PANTS? STICK TO THE OUTFIT SHE HAD IN THE 80’S. THIS OUTFIT IS B/S. I’M GAY ALL THE WAY. AND STILL RATHER SEE HER IN THE TIGHT SHORT SHORTS. THAT WONDER WOMAN IS KNOWN FOR. JUS THE OUTFIT ALONE IS GONNA GET THE SHOW KILT. FO REAL. THIS IS LIKE PUTTIN SUPERMAN WITH OUT POWERS. SERIOUSLY STOP CHANGING HEROS. IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THE AUDIANCE WANTS. AND THIS CRAP WE DON’T. TAKE THEM PANTS AND SHRED EM. THE ACTRESS IS VERY CURTE. BUT THAT OUTFIT IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE THE T. REALLY YALL GOTS TO BE PLAY’N. WHO EVER DESIGNED THAT OUTFIT KNOW IT LOOX LIKE S–T. LET ME CALM DOWN. CAUSE YALL GOTS ME FIRED UP. DO IT RIGHT OR DON’T DO IT AT ALL. AND LIKE THAT OUTFIT. I AM THREW.

The actress is beautiful for sure but the costume is tacky and the plot synopses looks awful. If this is not changed its is in for a quick painful death, much like NBC’s reboot of the Bionic Woman.

  • Michael
    March 31, 2011 at 2:46 pm

This is going to die a terrible death! Just like NBC’s other failed remake of the Bionic Woman. Dang – Either get original and create something new, stay true to the legacy of past successful shows, or just leave them the hell alone. GEESH!

I’d rather the producers either go with a more comic book-faithful costume, or a realistic / tactical one, like the X-Men films did, with the black leather suits (preferably the former).

I don’t like this middle-of-the-road design, it feels like a copout and doesn’t exactly give me a lot of confidence in the upcoming show’s direction.

    Ditch the leggings.

GAWD, what church ladies got together and said, “I think we should add pants to a comic strip thats like 40 years old because children who has been looking at this costume in books, magazines and television may not be able to handle a girl in a bathing suit”.

Why don’t you just put superman in a suit and tie whilst you’re at it.

This movie/tv show is going to suck!

PLEASE CLONE LINDA CARTER, she wont mind!

      March 31, 2011 at 5:04 pm

you are correct but even more so. The comic book character is more like 70 years old. Even then people were able to tolerate and love the original costume.

There have been a few costume updates in the comics for different characters. I know people love the old costume but it just doesn’t work in real life, it’s not practical. This tweaked version is a good update to the costume. I like it. Now they just have tweak the rest of the show and a lot of people will be happy.

The original Wonder Woman is beautiful and all woman, not a jennifer garner alias tomboy in slouchy leg shortening leggings. The new costume is drab and the muted red and blue are completely wrong. What happened to the flavor of the costume we all know and love?
