Paul Rudd is Hairy & Stupid in the Trailer for ‘Our Idiot Brother’

Far too long has Paul Rudd been cast as the “good lucking cutesy guy with a sense of humor.” It’s about time he dirties up and tries out the look that put Zach Galifiniakis on the map, and that’s just what he’s doing in his newest film, Our Idiot Brother.

The role actually plays very different to what Rudd is normally cast as, and not just in appearance. He’s finally taking on the idiotic comic relief, instead of the constant straight man that we love him for. Here’s the official synopsis.

Every family has one: the sibling who is always just a little bit behind the curve when it comes to getting his life together. For sisters Liz (Emily Mortimer), Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), that person is their perennially upbeat brother Ned (Paul Rudd), an erstwhile organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of mankind is a less-than-optimum strategy for a tidy, trouble-free existence.

Ned may be utterly lacking in common sense, but he is their brother and so, after his girlfriend dumps him and boots him off the farm, his sisters once again come to his rescue. As Liz, Emily and Natalie each take a turn at housing Ned, their brother’s unfailing commitment to honesty creates more than a few messes in their comfortable routines.

Check out the first trailer for the comedy after the jump, and catch Rudd, Deschanel,Banks, Coogan, Mortimer, and plenty more in Our Idiot Brother on August 23rd.

You are right! We lived in a house in Western Massachusetts and had to have the exterior chimney stripped of the white paint that the previous owners had painted it (the rest of the house was clapboard…quite charming I must say). Luckily we did not have any real damage to the home, but the paint would not allow the brick to “breathe”. We knew people who had a lot of damage to their homes due to improperly painted chimneys. The moisture will actually weep out the inside of the chimney causing water damage to the interior of the home.

I am a 70 yr old supposedly retired Canadian truck driver (but ain’t totally yet). For nearly 33 years my machines roamed all 49 US States. No matter what city, no matter what tiny town, from coast to coast. Maine to LA or Alaska to Florida, I’ve been in contact with those wonderful neighbours of Canada for 33 years. It is rare to meet (anywhere) a cruddy arrogant American, because they are just the nicest people on this planet.–Cannot say that about Ville du Paris though. The Canadian Army paid my vacations to 55 foreign countries, in about 20 of those lands I served alongside American GI’s (plus those lovable Aussies & the comical Limeys also). Our guys shared a lot off bubbly with those Yanks. That’s where I first got to like Americans (was serving in our army). God, I hate war! Yup, the Washington Foreign Policies often leave me scratching my rear bluejean pockets also. Man some of those USA foreign plans are DUMB. In fact dumb, and even dumber. But like I implied prior, the Americans are a good hearted people, and one of their foreign policies was rebuilding EUROPE with their own tax money in the Marshall Plan. I wonder how haughty some in Europe would be (today) if the USA had never spent billions, of the everyday worker’s taxes to rebuild that bombed out mess (Marshall Plan) in 1945. Put me down as being a pal of those dumb Yanks. In fact I even love the English too. Thanks for the laughs London. Your big Canuck buddy– Krazzee Hap, the Bren Gun man.

It shouldn’t be asking too much, should it? There should be a balance there, I think.

Once again, a liberal federal judge has told Christians what they can and cannot do. For many years, the National Day of Prayer has come and gone with no one objecting. Now,a few people think they have their feelings hurt and want to take it out on those of us who pray. They say they are offended, well, they offend me. Who is anyone to tell me when or where I can pray? It is certainly not Judge Barbara Crabb’s place. God have mercy on YOU, Ms. Crabb. I guess the next thing you will want to take away is Christmas. As for Mr. Obama, I believe he stated he didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes concerning this matter. Well, he sure didn’t seem to mind letting Muslims pray on the White House property. It’s called discrimination. May God have mercy on the United States of America.

I think it’s practically impossible for them to get back in profit for the month of November, but it’s encouraging that the past few days have been profitable. Long may that continue!!
