Marvel Offers Retailers Rare Variant In Exchange For Unsold DC Comics

blackest-night-ringsAs reported by Comic Book Resources, Marvel Comics has issued a press release stating that for every 50 copies of unsold DC Comics revolving around their recent Blackest Night ring promotion, retailers will be sent a rare Deadpool-centric variant for Siege #3, the publisher’s current event series. To be fair, Joe, this little exchange initiative by Marvel isn’t compulsory; the ultimate decision is on the retailers themselves on whether or not to participate. Having said that, yes, there are those within the comic industry/community that don’t appreciate Marvel’s attempt to “help the retailers.” While I don’t see DC Comics issuing some sort of program in retaliation, I’m sure that this offering from Marvel won’t be forgotten any time soon.

    Thanks for your comments, Joe!

Man, I have hated a lot of the things Marvel has been doing for the past four years I think. A lot of it stems because of the big hug concepts they put forth that don’t go anywhere. The biggest one was actually Spider-man’s unmasking. Yes, that one. The one where there was no point and despite the fact that it got press was never intended to be much of a story because of two reasons 1) JMS and the EIC only wanted to promise things to people and then get Spider-man unmarried and 2)They want to promise things just to get hype. This led to the actual destructionof the character. Now, he’s the worst person in the world, he isn’t worth anything. Now it’s just garbage they put out three times a month and the damage is irrecoverable. It’s just a whole lot of nothing. Just like this stunt.
