Last week we brought you an exclusive interview with Tom Welling, the star of Warner Bros’ hit DC property, Smallville. In it, he discussed the possibility of continuing on after the final season of the show to play Superman in a feature-length film.
Of course, no Superman would be complete without his Lois Lane. Erica Durance has portrayed the character on Smallville since late 2004 when the show took a drastic turn from “teen drama” to “epic comic franchise.” Since then, she’s won the hearts of fans, and even helped erase the memory of Teri Hatcher and that whole other era of Superman.
When we spoke with Welling, one of the big questions to be asked was about the possibility of moving on to a Superman film. Tom seemed to be game, but is waiting it out for the right opportunity. We got to ask Erica the same question, who would be our obvious choice to play the fast-talking reporter in a silver screen adaptation.
Check out what she had to say after the jump, and keep it here for more interviews with the cast of Smallville leading up to the final season this Fall.

August 3, 2010 at 1:49 pmErica is adorable and embodies an almost perfect Lois Lane. (If Lois Lane was “occassionally” Canadian in dialogue LOL) Love her stance on having to be a package deal with Tom (and hopefully Michael) for a Superman film.

August 3, 2010 at 12:50 amEveryone is entitled to having a preference for a particular incarnation of Lois Lane, but it's a fact that there are many people out there who have been calling Erica's Lois the best Lois Lane ever. I agree with these people myself, though I understand those who still hold Teri's Lois or Margot's Lois in higher regard. It's alright to have a personal favorite. Erica's it for me, but I adore Teri's Lois and still watch old episodes of LnC every other month, and have been doing that for almost a decade.

August 3, 2010 at 12:49 amThank you for such a great interview and for asking Erica Durance better questions than the repetitive “So Lois knows about the blur…?” that we heard about 10x times in other interviews. Love that you asked about the movie, and love that you recognize how popular Erica's version of Lois Lane is to many viewers. I grew up watching Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane so I love TH-Lois as much as any of her die-hard fans but I still believe that Erica's Lois is a bit more nuanced and that Erica has been able to really make this character into the brand new standard for anyone who follows her act. I would love to see her in a feature film with Tom Welling. For me, Tom and Erica are my generation's Lois and Clark and I cannot imagine anyone else in the Man-of-Steel movie. Anyway, thanks again for this great reporting!

August 2, 2010 at 10:41 pmAre you kidding me? Teri Hatcher the best Lois Lane ever? Erica Durance and Margot Kidder portray Lois so much better. And yes I understand that it's just my opinion, but I just thought I'd toss in my two cents.
