The start of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was a little rough. After the first episode, not much really happened and the name Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly became synonymous with the bitter comic book audience with saying that not much was going on. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came back to the new year with by far one of their best episodes only to put us on a two week hiatus.
And then last night it came back with another great episode, some quality references to events of some of the movies, some great comic book fan “ah ha!” moments and a cliffhanger ending. Did Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actually get it right?
Well I’ll leave it to Eric for his episode recap for you to decide about how good the episode was. My problem actually came from the preview for the next episode… that will be airing on March 4th. Yes. You read that right. March 4th. As in one month away. Not for nothing guys but what is that? We take a break, get one episode, and then it’s another month? That’s garbage.
Now don’t get me wrong. I already know what the excuses are going to be. Between the Olympics and then waiting for episodes to align with the movie properties, I get that it wasn’t possible to have a normal airing schedule. But it could have been much better than it was. There were definitely stretches that could have happened where we could have gotten four episodes and then taken a four week break and that would have been fine. Let us digest it in chunks. Don’t give us a one week taste and then tick us off by making us wait a full month after only a single episode.
So here’s what you need to do to make me happy Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. If you do these few things for me, we’ll be good:
- First, hit Jeph Loeb because I am still mad about Heroes.
- Second, go full board with the reveal at the end of this episode. If you half ass this character, we are going to have serious words.
- More Nick Fury.
- Some recognizable B-Level villains. I’m not going to be picky here but give us the Wrecking Crew or someone we recognize. At least a hint about M.O.D.O.K. would help.
- Finally, hit Jeph Loeb again just because.
