Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Warner Brothers Want to Bring ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Back to the Big Screen

There are few stories that have a more interesting life span than Little Shop of Horrors. Beginning it’s life as a low-level B horror film in the 60’s it has managed to gain increasing popularity by bouncing back and forth between screen adaptations and broadway musicals ever since.

Considering the last popular version of the tale was a Broadway revival, it seems like it is time to bring it back to the big screen, and according to the LA Times, some people agree:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Warner Bros. are in talks for a movie remake of “Little Shop of Horrors”  — with the help of some Broadway heavyweights behind the scenes. In addition to developing the film, Gordon-Levitt could star as Seymour, the lonely, lovable florist’s assistant who raises a giant alien plant motivated by sarcasm, song and human blood.

Now most of you probably hold the 80’s film starting Rick Moranis and Steve Martin in high regard, and think that this is just another in a long line of needless re-makes. For this particular tale I have to disagree, a new telling with an actor as talented as Joseph Gorodn-Levitt is exactly the next logical step for this story.

Of course that said, we all should pray we get a mostly practical Audrey 2.

And Now the ‘Total Recall’ International Trailer

Previously, we brought you a teaser for the reboot of Total Recall, another big movie vying for your hard earned dollar this Summer. Now, the Internets have graced us with the international trailer for the movie and, of course, we’re gonna share.

For those of you new to the “new” Total Recall, here’s the synopsis:

For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid, even though he’s got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen, the leader of the free world.

As our own Jonathan Weilbaecher put it previously: “This new version of Total Recall is exactly how you handle a modern remake. You taken the source material, and give your creative team’s the chance to adapted it in their own way, in their own style.”

Let’s hope he’s right. Check out the trailer after the break. Look for Total Recall to hit theaters on August 3.

New ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer Arrives to Again Remind Us the Movie Exists

With Marvel’s The Avengers coming out tonight at midnight there’s another movie (from a different studio) that wants to make sure we know it’s coming out soon too. That movie is, of course, the re-imagining of the reboot of Spider-Man known as The Amazing Spider-Man.

Much like the posters that came out a few days ago, this trailer isn’t really all that special. Believe us, we wish it was. It just looks like more of the same thing we’ve seen before in the previous Spider-Man movies that were not really all that long ago.

On a positive note, we prefer Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy to what’s her names previous tern as Mary Jane. That much is certain. We’re less enthusiastic about Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, however.

Oh well. It probably won’t stop the movie from making a boatload of money, which is fine.

Click through to look at the trailer. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters this Summer.

Starz Series ‘Spartacus’ Adds Three New Ladies for Season Three

With things firmly in turmoil after the end of season two, Starz original series Spartacus has already started production on season three. With that usually comes news of cast additions and that’s exactly what we have for you today.

According to Starz, Anna Hutchison, Jenna Lind and Gwendoline Taylor have been added to the cast of series, now filming season three in New Zealand. Hutchison will play Laeta, the privileged wife of a Roman dignitary who becomes entangled in the struggle against Spartacus. Her life and those of the ones she loves are forever changed by the conflict.

Lind will play Kore, a loyal slave to Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells), the Roman tasked to bring an end to Spartacus and his rebellion. Her deep feelings for her master will be sorely tested by spiraling events.

Taylor will play Sibyl, a beautiful young slave rescued from Roman cruelty. Now free, she will embark on a journey that will touch the lives of key leaders in the rebellion.

They all look line fine additions to the cast, which up until now has had no shortage of beautiful women. Season three, which debuts on Starz later this year, looks like it will carry on that tradition.

Experience Robert Pattinson’s Angst In a New Clip from ‘Cosmopolis’

Even though we might not be huge fans of Robert Patinson’s major works (hey, he was great in Harry Potter though) that doen’t mean we aren’t going to mention when he does something interesting. That’s especially true when he works with one of our favorite directors: David Cronenberg.

That somewhat unusual pairing has resulted in the new film Cosmopolis, which will make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month. In the film Pattinson plays Eric Packer, a 28-year old billionaire who likes to mix it up in his personal and profesional life. In short, he’s mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore. Plus, he’s about to have a very interesting day – with a little pharmaceutical help of course.

In the clip we get a glimpse of Pattinson as he trades pointed barbs with his wife at a restaurant just before a protest breaks out featuring lots of dead rats. What does it all mean? We’re not entirely sure as we haven’t read the novel by Don DeLillo on which the film is based.

However, we always find Cronenberg interesting and weird is one of the things he does pretty well so we’re going to give this one the benefit of the doubt. Of course, what we’re really waiting for is a sequel to Eastern Promises.

Until then, this will have to do. Check out the clip after the break.

Amazon Launches Cloud Drive Application for Desktops

With all the fanfare surrounding Apple’s iCloud and the recent debut of Google Drive, let’s not forget another player in the “cloud” story is still around and very much active: Amazon. In fact, they’ve just released a brand new desktop app to help users access all their info stored on the company’s cloud servers.

The app is available for both Mac and Windows desktops and could not be easier to use. Simply drag and drop your files onto the desktop icon for instant uploading to the cloud, then have access to them from any of your mobile devices that have a web connection. Of course, you have to actually go to Amazon’s website to do that.

The app is a good first step for Amazon but lacks many of the features found in other offerings from Google and Dropbox. Of course, Apple doesn’t even have an app at all so at least Amazon is ahead of them.

Still, with all of Amazon’s resources I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before they release a revised version fothe app with more features. Plus, they really need to do something about the prices as they seem a bit high.

Keep at it Amazon. Competition is a good thing.
