Fox Brings Max Landis Back to Write ‘Chronicle 2’

With the “found footage” movie Chronicle making so much money at the box office, especially in relation to how much it cost, it was pretty much inevitable a sequel was going to be made. Fortunately, Fox seems to be playing this one smart and has brought back Max Landis, the writer of the first Chronicle, to pen the sequel.

In case you’re not familiar with Chronicle, it featured actors Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan playing three high school friends who gain superpowers. Unfortunately, as cool as that may sound, things don’t go exactly as they hoped.

Soon, the trio find their lives going out of control and friendships tested as they explore the dark side. Didn’t they ever see Spider-Man? Great power, great responsibility, that kind of thing? Kids today.

Anyway, Landis will reportedly be working on the sequel as his next project after recently selling projects to both Ron Howard and Disney. Fox is looking at a 2013 release for the Chronicle sequel.

Alexandre Aja in Talks For ‘Undying Love’ Adaptation

According to Deadline, Alexandre Aja is in talks to direct Undying Love, an adaptation of the Image Comics title. Since making his way to the states following the success of 2003’s High Tension, Aja has directed The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, and Piranha, three films based on projects that have been previously made. Fortunately it looks like that part of his career is over, as he takes on this gritty noir-horror adaptation.

The comic was originally written and illustrated by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman. The comic is a horror-action tale that mixes  vampire mythology and Chinese folklore.  The tale, set in modern day Hong Kong, follows ex-soldier John Sargent who has has fallen fin love with a beautiful Chinese woman named Mei. Unfortunately for Sargent, Mei has a secret that keeps them apart, in that she is a vampire. In order to free Mei from the vampiric curse, Sargent must destroy the vampire that made her. The only problem is that  Mei was turned by one of the most powerful vampires in history who is protected by an underworld army of monsters.

New ‘The Cabin In The Woods’ :60 Second Spot Promises Thrills And Chills

Don’t worry whedonites, The Avengers isn’t the only Joss Whedon related project coming out in 2012. The Cabin in the Woods, a film that Whedon produced, is heading to theaters in just over a month.

The long delayed project is finally going to see the light of day, and early word is that the film delivers big time. One of the main thrills of the movie is it’s twists and turns, so we here at The Flickcast have been careful not to be spoiled.

Thankfully Lionsgate just released a new, and concise trailer in advance of this week’s premiere at the SXSW festival. For those of you who are completely in the black about what this movie is, the official synopsis sums it up well:

Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.

If you think you know this story, think again. From fan favorites Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard comes THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.

The trailer hints that this film is more than your average lonely cabin horror film, but we are no doubt in for crazy twist on the classic horror set up.

Woody Allen Joins Cast Of ‘Fading Gigolo’ As John Turturro’s Pimp

Woody Allen is a talented writer, director and actor. He is generally very funny, and often provides a very unique perspective that feels familiar but is undeniably his own. Now he will finally achieve the final peg for total life victory, he will play John Turturro’s pimp.

Turturro’s next project as a writer and director is Fading Gigolo, and he has been able to pull in a very impressive cast.

Variety is reporting Allen will co-star in the film with Turturro with Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara likely to sign on in supporting roles.

Turturro and Allen [play] cash-strapped best friends who decide to go into the gigolo business together and subsequently attract the suspicion of the Hasidic Jewish community in which they live. Duo take on the pseudonyms Virgil and Bongo, with Allen pimping out Turturro’s character until he falls for a Jewish widow.

The movie sounds incredibly interesting, and pulling in Woody Allen just as an actor likely speaks volumes about script.

This will be Allen’s first project since winning this year’s Academy Award for best screenplay, for his film Midnight in Paris. Turturro has recently been seen fighting giant robots in a certain loud and explodey trilogy, so this next picture is an interesting change of pace for the both of them.

Wave 4 for ‘Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure’ Revealed

Even though things are ramping up for Skylanders: Giants which is expected this fall, things aren’t slowing down for the Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure releases. This new wave features two new individual characters Lightning Rod and Zook and a new Adventure Pack called the Dragon’s Peek and featuring the Skylander Sunburn.

Lightning Rod looks to be a play off of Zeus, with a burly beard and the ability to shoot lighting at enemies. Zook looks like some sort of mutant vegetable tree hybrid with quite possibly the coolest weapon to be added to the game yet with a rocket launcher along with his ability to drop cover to hid behind as well. The Dragon’s Peek Adventure pack adds an additional level to the game as well as the Sunburn character which is half dragon and half phoenix.

Check out the profiles and videos below of all three new Skylanders in action coming to Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and stay tuned for more on Skylanders: Giants as it becomes available.

Get Your First Look at Marvel’s ‘Hulk’ #50

The Hulk is one of those characters you might think writers would have a hard time creating stories for. After all, his power is pretty much only “hulking out” when he gets angry and smashing things. Cool, but not very deep and seemingly not very conducive to great storytelling.

Check out all the info below from the official Marvel press release as well as preview pages from the comic after the break. Look for Hulk #50 to hit stores on April 4.

Red Hulk’s hostile encounter in Las Vegas during Circle of Four is coming back to haunt him! The end of the world may be upon us, but that’s not all that’s headed for Red Hulk;
